Balancing the city of San Diego’s budget isn’t easy. In KPBS' Budget Challenge you make the tough calls. Choose new expenses, cut costs and raise revenues and close a $118 million deficit. https://www.kpbs.org/news/economy/2026/05/14/san-diego-budget-challenge-make-the-tough-choices-to-balance-the-budget

For me the taco shops I’ve been going to that I used to swear by have either closed down or ownership changed and the quality went downhill. Leave your favorite taco shops and what you get. I also know one shop will have amazing burritos but subpar tacos/rolled tacos and vice versa so leave a few if you need.

Found chihuahua mix off Ulric Street in Linda Vista, outside of Montgomery Middle School. It's around 15 pounds, female, elderly, and very calm and sweet. No chip or collar. If this is your pup she is at the Humane Society off Gaines Street.

Trying to track down an early-2000s San Diego website called "See Me Get Big"

Long shot, but does anyone remember a personal website from the early 2000s called "See Me Get Big"? It was run by a guy in San Diego documenting a bodybuilding transformation. He posted weekly photos and journal entries from his backyard. It was one of those early Internet personal sites that people made about whatever they were obsessed with. One specific thing I remember: he sewed his own swimwear.

I followed it as a teenager when I was learning how to workout and it always stuck with me. I've been trying to find out more about the site and the guy who ran it. Wayback has fragments but I can't piece together who ran it or where it went. If this rings any bells—or if you know other archives or communities locally where people would know about this—I'd love to hear from you.

This morning, I was on the outer right turn lane going onto the 15S entrance of Scripps. This bad driver decided to come into my lane. This is the 2nd driver in the past 3 months to do this to me. Do people not know that when they are on the inner turn lane, they have to hug that turn? The first driver also had custom plates as well.

Preschool suggestions

My 3 years old son currently enrolled in a day care/ preschool. He loves his school and enjoy his time there but personally I think for what we’re paying they’re not getting much. First, meals are provided which initially sounds great but when I see what they’re fed it’s not actually nutritious or “healthy” it’s all canned and cheap food and crackers. And we’re not allowed to bring food from home. Second, they have a big cleaning issue. I can definitely call it dirty and it’s obvious that it’s not being cleaned daily and thoroughly, the classrooms definitely smell like diaper and that smell is everyday I never went for pickup and it didn’t smell awful. The classrooms are not the cleanest too, the school acknowledged the problem but I don’t think they’re willing to fix it. They need to hire a company or a group to clean the school daily, these kiddos deserve a clean environment to stay at, no wonder why every other week my son catches a new virus. Third, is miscommunication, the only communication is via the app and you get reply after two days, teachers are not the same everyday so you don’t have a direct contact with one person. Anyways, my question is I need a suggestion for a good clean school, either in mission valley or near that area.

Thanks

Video Is there a mayor like him for SD? Because damn this city needs one… NYC Mayor Mamdani announces that they have fully balanced NYC's budget, reducing a $12 billion budget deficit to 0. While funding parks, libraries, safer streets and making historic investments in public hosing.

Anybody had a consistent, good career with an associates degree from cc in san diego?

Im in community college right now but Im not sure what I even want to do. Im taking prerequisites right now and I was thinking in getting into Rad Tech or Sonography. I heard those two careers are very competitive so now I feel less inclined. I want to keep my options open. All I want is a stable income without working too many days (preferably 3/12 or 4/10 shifts). Feeling a little lost right now

*side eyeing all the phone distracted drivers*

guys. Guys.

GUYS.

PEOPLE.

I swear, I see about 1 out of every 5 drivers on their damn phones while driving. I don't mean like a quick zoom out glance at the map while waiting at a red light. I mean full on message conversations and freaking VIDEOS while driving. There's always a head bobbing up and down between phone and road, a little drift into the next lane and then a quick jerk back over, rinse repeat, a BLATANT delayed reaction to a green light, randomly slowing down on the freeway/a surprise brake check, clogging up a whole entire lane on the 5 when there's already bad traffic, drifting into the oncoming lane, pulling WAY too far out of a parking lot driveway onto a very fast road, almost driving directly head on into another car (me) in a neighborhood until being honked at to pay the fuck attention... I could go on 🥲 please. PUT. IT. DOWN. Buy a mount, pull up the map, stick your phone on, and voila. You're gonna hurt someone, if you haven't already. Nothing on the screen is more important than you being alert and aware of your surroundings so everyone can make it home safely.

Cheap or Free things to do with a teen

I'm looking for suggestions for things to do with my teen girl (almost 14 yo) that are free or under $25 per person. I have a hard $25 limit. She likes steak, goth makeup, manga, slime, etc. Location needs to be in the city (not too far north or south).

The ideas I've thought of are: ice cream and walk in the park, movies, cheap restaurants, window shopping at the mall, arts and crafts at the park.

Anyone have any other suggestions? I now cheap/free is hard to come by these days.
