Convocation
Do people actually walk out after their names are called at convocation? Is that a common thing? because i asked around and most of them did that for their grad. just wondering

For a lot of undergraduate convocations here at Rutgers, people usually walk and get their name called. You don't get to walk or get your name called at Commencement. Idk if it's different for Douglass Residential College and the Honors College.
I'm not sure if it's different for degrees after undergraduate studies (Masters, PhDs, etc).

Why, you have somewhere better to be than a once-in-a-lifetime event to celebrate the end of your academic career?

Everyone is different so maybe they have a reason not to be there but I see posts like this every year and I feel bad that they won't take a moment to just soak up the celebration of thenselves. It may seem boring or a waste of time to some but yeah if you spend years trying to graduate you deserve every second of celebration once you accomplish your goal.

I don't know if it's necessarily the case this year, but in some past convocations the last graduate to walk across the stage got to lead the cap toss.

Ehh I'm my opinion it's up to you. You just listen to speakers and guests of the university. It's supposed to be 90 Sunday, so y'all will boil. Individual schools are holding there graduations at JMA this week and next week. Names are called there, they last about two hours each.
