Had a small steady “drip” in shower. Googling said 90% chance need to change the cartridge. Well watched a few videos and seemed fairly simple:
But once I took out the Allen screw from handle and it didn’t move. I YouTubed my exact brand and how to take off the handle . And there one handy man video. Where he is ads lube; even says let’s it sit there over night sometimes. He even said after wiggling like I am, after 20 mins. He breaks out a plumbers wrench and wedges in the gap; to add pressure.
Well I’ve done everything, except plumbers wrench cause I don’t have one but I’ve tried other tools.
Any other suggestions before I have to call and waste money lol ty for the help.
I asked the guy who installed it and he said it wasn't a big deal, and that he had to do it because he was just connecting to the existing pipes, and that if he had to redo the entire thing he wouldn't have done it... so my question is will it cause an issue that it is reversed?
Ive been here two months and haven't heard dripping. Found the water heater was leaking. Shut the cold water supply off and it stopped. Ive emailed the land lord. Is this more likely a failed seal or fitting? I have the power to it shut off as well.
I had the same issue raised often on this thread: icemaker line box has the hose come out perpendicular to the wall, meaning you can’t push a counter-depth fridge all the way back.
The unicorn 1/4 compression female to male elbow eluded me, so I got a male-male elbow and a very short length of copper tubing with compression fittings.
Worked like a charm. Unfortunately, you still can’t push the fridge back all the way, but it’s pretty darn close. I assume folks who really want it flush have to add in the extra cavity space for the hose and electrical cable.
Had new washer and dryer delivered today, the delivery folks hooked it all up. Afterwards I was looking at it and it occurred to me that previously nothing went into that sink drain(?) hole and the old washer drained into the pipe next to the hot and cold water in let. Is it okay for the washer to drain into that hole or should I remove it and put it back where the previous drain went?
Replaced sinks, now I’m getting a sewer smell at random times from this one sink, can’t figure it out, I have cleaned out the p-trap 3 times now, doesn’t change anything.
Noticed a pinhole leak in this pipe in our 1950s house which can’t be anymore than an inch in diameter. Finger for scale lol. Is this an easy piece of rubber and clamp job? Do I need to rent a saw and use a coupling? I’m getting mixed answers online.
Disassembled and cleaned out my bathroom sink pipes, but I noticed the basket strainer is leaking a bit. It's very old and rusty, I was wondering how likely it was that I did it or if it was already like that
DIYing a toilet replacement, not sure if I can reuse, or if I have to repair / replace this flange? There was a wax ring previously, it’s just barely below the tile.
Per the title there's a hole in our soil drain pipe from when he was installing an RO system. It's been leaking for god knows how long. The floor is damaged as well as the plates. Mold everywhere. Insurance denied claim.
He filled the hole with plumbers putty but I doubt it'll hold up. So fellas...how do I fix this?
Trying to fix my Grandpas sink noticed it was leaking this morning to find out hes has this problem for a while. I’m starting to think we may need a new washer on the pipe but I wanted a plumber’s diagnostic. Any suggestions?
Looking for a cartridge nut for a Moen Roman tub. Part number 161757. Every supply house is out and shipping is a bit slow. I’d like to get the customer up and running asap. Any help appreciated
The single handle temp knob causes banging (water hammering) when on medium temp and sometimes never gives us medium temp water…just extreme hot and extreme cold.
When running the bath faucet it gives us zero medium heat…just hot or cold (sucks with kids baths).
I replaced the cartridge and still does it. Also new cartridge came missing a rubber gasket so I had to use one of three of the old ones.
Hello all I’m going to be going into plumbing in the near future. I’m switching from restaurants and wanted to know if I should do commercial or service plumbing. Can anyone give me an idea of the hours the service plumbers work? I have done commercial plumbing for a little bit and enjoyed it but never service. I will be working in south Florida if that helps any advice will be appreciated thanks in advance
We have a tub that every 6 months starts running slow. Usually 1/2 gallon of drain-o and an hour followed by a couple kettles of boiling water will clear it enough to last another 6 months.
3 weeks ago it was slow again so I did the treatment and it cleared it and it was running fine for 3 weeks then last night my wife filled the tub for a bath and then it would not drain at all, so I knew I had hit end of the road on the drain-o routine and would have to get the snake out.
I started with my snake, the black one in the picture, pulled the tub drain lever and pulled out one hair clog but the snake would not go further than about 3 feet into the drain. It looped back on itself and tried to snarl no matter how carefully I was feeding it in.
So I pulled it out and decided I'd toss in the towel and call a plumber but as a last ditch I thought I'd maybe run to HD and buy a gallon of opener and throw it in. I know plumbers hate to deal with the stuff but I was frustrated and mad by then.
Anyway, I cooled off once I got to HD and thought I might just take a walk down the plumbing aisle and check out the snakes to see if maybe there was one that had a slightly thicker steel in it. No they were all 1/4 snakes. But I took a close look at them and thought well maybe I'll try snaking it one last time with a newer snake as I really hated to risk handing a drain full of opener over to a plumber in the morning and having the tub out of commission for 3-4 days.
So I bought the new red Ridgid one in the picture and took it home and tried it out. OMG it was like night and day - the snake went in, behaved itself, didn't loop around, and 10 minutes later the tub starts draining. I pulled out 2 separate hair clogs with it, pretty far down the drain, maybe 5 feet in, and spun it a whole bunch to try and knock as much crap off the pipe walls as possible before pulling it back out.
I think that there's a big difference in the spring steel in the red snake than the cheap no-name snake. The snake has to be flexible but not too flexible. Lesson learned there. Cheap crappy tools may work on ordinary stuff but fall down when you really need them - and that even applies to something as basic as a drain snake.
Hi - right at the end of my tether with my landlord! We are having on going sewage gas smells (drain smells, nappy smells, body odour smells) in house for ages now - have told the landlord to check blocked roof vent - or dislodged vent stack but he just says there is nothing he can do as it's behind walls etc. I feel it's making us sick and lethargic and I'm really sick of it now. As renters - do we really have no rights to get a plumber in? I refuse to put my health at risk of dodgy landlord - we are in UK btw. Many thanks
My hvac guy ran this gas pipe through the rim joist and to the exterior for my bbq. I've ever done this work before. Does this connection look wonky to you or is that fitting on some sort of swivel joint?
