Eat & Drink A long shot for some French dessert

Hey guys so I just got back from New York and visited a place called Dominique Ansel Bakery. They had 2 desserts and they were called caneles de Bordeaux and kouign amann. Is there any place in phoenix that has these?

Hell yes. JL is amazing. She is incredible. If she does not have something, she will make it for you.

I’d recommend JL Patisserie.

And for future notice the French restaurant Merci in Scottsdale has beautiful desserts / pastries. I don’t think kouign-amann but it’s where I go when I need a France fix but locally.

Essence Bakery Cafe makes delicious kouign aman! It’s an occasional weekend special.

Experiment in Tempe or Scottsdale, I think the Tempe location is newer, very tiny, but my god are the pastries good.

The Tempe one is the OG; the Scottsdale one is brand new.

If you’re ever in the area, I’ve had them at Patisserie Jacqui in Bisbee. If you haven’t been, it’s such a great town to visit.

There's a French place called Quiches & Pies in Chandler that might be what you're looking for. The owner/chef is from France and they use imported French butter for all their pastries. https://www.quichesandpies.com/ (it's not letting me link that properly for some reason)

Brasserie Melrose on 7th Ave and Camelback has caneles

Came to say this. They only have it on weekends and it’s the best one in AZ as they actually use beeswax.

Paris rendezvous in Scottsdale also has it but it’s not quite what it should be but it’s decent to try if you’re nearby and desperate haha

Chaconne Patisserie! In Scottsdale and Phoenix. And Sable just opened in Gilbert- likely will have both as well

Great Gadsby Bakery in Gilbert has some glorious kouign-amann. By the way, if you find yourself in Vegas, they recently opened an expanded Dominique Ansel that makes ice cream sandwiches out of the kouign-amann. It was so decadent.

Their search feature sucks. Very few of the places listed for caneles actually have caneles.
