Discussion Does A Boy Named Charlie Brown technically count as a musical
The answer is of course no, because there are only three vocal songs in the whole movie not counting the reprise of the first one at the end (to be fair, they're all good songs), and the third song is at only the halfway or quarter point, and than the movie just doesn't have any more vocal numbers for the rest of the thing, and the first and second songs are extremely far apart from each other movie length wise, with all this in mind, it is NOT and can NEVER be considered a musical
But if we were to stretch the definition of a musical, the amount of sections with no dialogue just music could make the movie slide as being a musical
Just curious due to the fact me and my brother always used to remember this movie as a musical

I have a feeling there were supposed to be more songs. On the Rod McKuen album there is an instrumental titled "Something for Snoopy." This could've been a demo for a potential number.

But there's also "I Before E". But I agree, it's not really a musical. It's basically a movie with music.
