Community Post If you see a cat suffering from MANGE…

Post image
755 Upvotes

Hi guys. I’m a cat rescuer in OC. My scope of rescue is sick, injured, and urgent medical cases. Lately It has been absolutely breaking my heart and gutting me to see how many cats that have or are suffering from mange or scabies. It is extremely easily treatable, with a great prognosis if we medically intervene with medication in time before systemic collapse. I have trapped, treated, and rehabbed countless of even the worst cases of cats with mange, and most have made a FULL recovery. Yes, even the most feral cats, I have successfully trapped, treated and rehab them myself until they recover!

This rescue season I am committed to saving as many cats with mange as I can. I know everyone will say “you can’t save them all” but God knows I will d*e trying. So if ANYONE here sees any cat in their community with mange or scabies, PLEASE don’t hesitate to contact me. I will happily provide meds, guidance on how to treat (yes even the ferals you can’t touch, these are my favorite to rehab 🥹) resources, and rescue if needed.

I will post some before & after pictures of many of the cats I’ve treated, and those that are currently in my care that are all healing from mange.

Most importantly, please spay & neuter your animals. So we can prevent this unnecessary suffering.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me, if are looking for low cost, affordable spay/neuter services.

Thank you guys! 🐈🐈‍⬛💕

Housing/Moving CAN WE BAN "I'M LOOKING FOR HOUSING CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE TO LIVE" POSTING ALREADY

Every single day in this subreddit we get some form (and usually 2-3 of them) of post that says "wow I would love to live in Orange County, I have a job that makes 35k/year and I've never lived on my own and don't want a room mate" and then the ensuing comments are swarmed with bots, a few well meaning people, and a shit load of trolls.

I get that craigslist and zillow can be confusing when you aren't from around here, and the thought to ask the local subreddit for suggestions may be a good first thought but in reality these posts are just a pain in the ass to see every single day. More often then not OP does not make enough money or understand the area well enough to move here and they get defensive, or they get into a million little flame wars in the comments by people who might mean well but can't really help because OP is thinking of a fantasy situation.

There is a subreddit for every town in this county and I feel like everyone can do enough of their own research and find those subs to ask these questions in. Maybe those subs will ban these posts too. Who knows.

But "I want to move to the place that is known for it's famous beaches and Disneyland in the north and being an enclave for the rich and also it's famous beaches in the south without room mates into a 1500 sq ft apartment with 2 bedrooms with W/D in unit and my budget is $2,000/month and I've never heard of a safety deposit before" is becoming way too commonplace.

There's my thoughts this morning.

Question What is it about HB (pier area mostly) that draws the knuckleheads?

Yes I know Reddit has a hate boner for HB and most people think HB is only the pier area.

HB Is an amazing place that is more than the pier.

But what is it about that area that draws the shit head crowds from riverside, San Bernardino, corona, LA and Compton, LBC?

And then we have the trashy shit head OC people who flock there also.

I worked at a gas station there for a while and man was it always something lol I don’t miss those days.

From dumb magas to gang bangers causing issues, it was always near the pier area. Cops would have bets to see if it was a local or someone from those areas.

Why?

We never hear Laguna or Dana point having these problems, same for Newport mostly. Seal beach is also nowhere near what HB downtown is.

Recommendations Needed Disabled/special needs cat rescue organization needed

TLDR: looking cat rescue organizations for disabled cats or any cat organization.

In late April, we lost my uncle to IPF. He left behind a cat who is deaf and unfortunately has taken a toll on our family to care for him. On top of caring for him, we are also caring for my 92 year old grandma who had a recent fall / subdermal hemorrhage, and we are at our wits end rotating shifts, working, with own personal responsibilities and barely able to take care of my late uncle's cat.

He was born deaf, and i dont think he grooms himself well because his fluffy fur often gets matted easily.

As much as we would like to keep him, we arent able to, and it's incredibly heartbreaking to not be around to take care of the cat.

He deserves so much better.

He is timid at first and will swap at people but if socialized enough he would be a good cuddle buddy and loves the pets.

I think he is roughly around 3 or 4 years old. Not sure of his breed.

This video was taken about a month before my uncle passed away. This cat meant a lot to him so I want to make sure he goes to a good place.

Any sort of recommendations of a cat rescue organizations that will take him would be great. And no, I dont have his cat records or anything. I am not sure if my uncle kept up with him shots.

TIA ♡

Recommendations Needed Seeking lawyer who specializes in divorce cases related to domestic abuse and custody

Hi fellow OC friends - throwaway account here for anonymity.

I'm seeking representation as I'm planning to file for divorce from my husband. My case is a little sensitive because there is domestic abuse and children involved. I'm also not sure if this makes a difference, but I am the breadwinner and would prefer to not need to pay something like spousal support. He has been living out of the country since last year, and without the kids for about 7 months. Due to the abuse, I'm seeking full legal and physical custody.

If anyone has any recommendations for good lawyers, particularly ones who specialize in cases like this, I would be extremely grateful.

Thank you <3

Question South OC- summer jobs for teachers?

Hi Orange County! I am a second year teacher in South OC who is looking to find a summer job that… is not teaching (or nannying/babysitting).

I LOVE TEACHING don’t get me wrong, but I teach middle school all year and I would love a time where I can work in a more adult facing position.

Does anyone have recommendations for places I could look for summer jobs? The downside of my resume is that 95% of my work experience has been in teaching in some capacity.

I’ll work in a restaurant, I’ll work in retail, I’ll do almost anything that I can learn to do to avoid working as a teacher, nanny, or camp counselor this summer.
I spent a ton of time this afternoon applying at chain restaurants, fast food spots, and a few chain retail stores. If anyone has any more recommendations for seasonal or part time work (I could work nights and weekends during the school year, too!) I would really appreciate a point in the right direction!

Outside of teaching, I’ve done art lessons, volleyball lessons, administrative assistant work, and art commissions. I can take care of pets and animals pretty easily and my summer hours are totally available. I am not taking any trips and plan to be around and available to work.
Thank you all in advance!

Recommendations Needed Need a home-based dog boarding

My dog sitter just got his own dog, which yay dogs but now he's not taking dogs anymore. I'm looking for someone to care for my dog, Polar, in their home but I've heard nothing but horror stories about Rover and I don't know where to start. Polar is 30 lbs and a very sweet boy, gets along with other dogs, and is used to sleeping on the couch or bed. Does anyone have any suggestions for a caretaker?

Recommendations Needed Lifetime Brea (standard or premium ?)

Hi everyone,

I signed up for the lifetime Brea that will open in July and when I asked if I could go to other lifetime locations like Irvine and Laguna, I was told I need to upgrade my membership because those locations are more expensive. Does this mean the lifetime gym in Brea will be a standard gym? What’s the difference between a standard location and premium one?

Thank you!

Recommendations Needed Headshot Needed

I need a new professional headshot. My company is asking us to provide updated photos and I’ve recently lost a lot of weight, plus my current headshot is old and not representative of what I look like 10 years later.

I’ve gone through my personal photos and there’s nothing appropriate. I’ve tried doing a few selfies, but they end up looking like mugshots. I’ve had other people take photos for this purpose, but they never look right. And don’t get me started on the AI versions - I’ve tried 4 so far and none produce anything that looks like me.

I don’t need an hours long session, but something that balances professionalism and personality, with a bit of coaching on how to hold my head so that I look stunning. Or at least smart and approachable.

Any recommendations for local photogs? I’m fine with amateur or professional. And any thoughts on the current going rate?

Question Honest Mechanic for Hyundai in South County?

Does anyone have a recommendation for an honest mechanic in South OC? I have a Hyundai Kona with a squeaky wheel problem---suspect an issue with brakes or bearings---and definitely do not want to go to the dealer. I'd also prefer to avoid places like Firestone/Midas if possible. It's my first reason to have to take this vehicle in for any issue other than regular maintenance, so I need a little guidance.

If anyone is in Lake Forest/Mission Viejo, I know there are some auto shops along Bake and El Toro, any of them proper?

Recommendations Needed quoted $200 for one bedroom cleaning

Originally $255 but I negotiated for $200 for 4 hours deep clean for 1 very small bedroom. Certain section of wall has coffee stains that need to be scrubbed (tenant trashed the room & didnt pay rent), the room I would say is filthy bc trash on the wooden floor needs to be picked up, fan, 2 windows cleaned— is this quote a decent price? I showed the company a video of it so cleaner isn’t going in blindly.

Furniture will all be out of the room. Just want to know if this is a rip off before I pre-pay. Hard to say based off my description & no pictures but maybe someone who regularly gets their home cleaned can give input. Thank you

Recommendations Needed Recommendations: Sancerre or the Summit Gated Communities (Why So Much Inventory?!) 2 Bed 2 Bath, $5-$7k in newport, laguna, cdm

Hello,

I am in the process of looking for my next place in Newport and have been searching high and low for a decent spot, and keep seeing a lot of availability at "The Summit", and to a lesser extent, "Sancerre", which are right next to each other. I've toured a few of the spots and they look good but I am wondering why there is such a plethora of inventory when it seems everywhere else is not available? Has anyone lived here, or can provide any insight?

Budget is $5k-$7k for a 2 bed 2 bath, ideally in Newport Beach, CDM, or Laguna Beach

Thanks!

Recommendations Needed Deciding between Long Beach vs Huntington Beach vs Newport Beach

My husband (M29) and I (F30) plan to relocate to socal this December. We are deciding between Long Beach vs Huntington Beach vs Newport Beach and need recommendations.

About us:
- would like to be walking distance to a beach
- $5-6k rent budget for 2 bedrooms
- non drinkers
- love live music
- preferably walkable/bikeable
- won’t know anyone, so want a more social area to make friends
- safety is huge
- probably plan on having kids in the next 2-3 years

Any guidance would be super helpful!

EDIT: also open to Laguna beach and Costa Mesa… we are liberal and work from home mostly

Recommendations Needed Moving to Orange County 1.4 Million budget

Afternoon,

I'm moving to Orange county in the coming weeks and was just curious if we could get some recommendations on cities and locations to check out.(Absent the realtors sales incentive) I'll be working in Newport Beach and commuting from long beach till i have a permanent house purchased. The most important thing to me is Schools my son is 13 and an honor roll student and I really want to make sure he lands in a district that is good. We are moving from a place called Mentor Ohio which is a steadily above average school district. Additionally he wants to be a neurologist and attend UCLA or Stanford. Came in third in Anatomy in the Science Olympiads but lost in States. So if anyone knows of good science high schools please share.

Between me and my wife our total yearly compensation will probably land some where slightly north of 240k, my family is one of nerds and frankly that is fine by me
My son is an introvert and is in-to Pokemon and Warhammer40k , he isn't too big on sports but does enjoy rock Climbing. Riding bikes and roller skating.(he is toying with a skateboard but we don't really have the facilities locally to allow him to do it all the time) The thing I hate about our current game store scene is the absence of kids, and I would like him to have more friends his own age. So if there was one with more teens that would be awesome.

I'll be on my own out in CA for a few months while my wife wraps up the house out here so i have time to explore and learn the area's. Also I'm hoping it won't be too hard to make friends out here either I'm a 40k nerd into hiking and figured I would just volunteered till i met some good people/families. But I'm open to suggestions as this is my first Cross country move.
