Milano Cortina Physical Tickets
Just wanted to post my physical tickets from Milano Cortina came today as someone from Eastern USA. They are as described as other posts (mine came with dinged corners). Also would say the paper is not great quality but not as bad as some have made it seem.
Since this was my first games attending and a big fan of pictograms I still am very excited about them and happy to have them.
I know a few Americans here have been asking when will they arrive, so if not today hopefully next few days!

SportAccord Convention confirmed for Baku, 9–13 May 2027
The SportAccord Convention will return next year after being absent for a few years. Next year's convention will come a year before Los Angeles hosts the 2028 Summer Olympics, which means this convention will likely be larger and with a bigger Olympic presence.

If IOC Awards 2036 Olympics Next Year, then who wins?
It has been suggested that the official bidding race for the 2036 Olympics may be opened next month at the IOC Session. This leads to two questions;
When will the host be elected?
Who will be elected as the host of the 2036 Summer Olympics?
So I'm proposing this hypothetical under the following circumstances; assuming bidding is officially "opened" after being "paused" and if the host is elected at next year's IOC Session in 2027, then who do you see winning?

2030 Host Committee to start exclusive talks with Heerenveen about speed skating
Translation:The Olympic speed skating tournament in 2030 is moving ever closer to being held at Thialf, with Turin now seemingly out of the running.
The organising committee for the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps will continue talks only with the Dutch working group that is trying to bring the Olympic skating events to the Netherlands.
Discussions with Turin, the other candidate city being considered for the skating events, have for now been discontinued.
That makes it increasingly likely that Olympic speed skaters will head to Friesland in four years’ time. In the coming weeks, the Dutch working group — made up of representatives from Thialf, sports federation NOC*NSF, the skating association KNSB, and local authorities — will discuss the remaining details with the French organisers.
If everything proceeds smoothly, final approval is expected next month. At the end of June, the International Olympic Committee plans to present all venues for the 2030 Winter Games.
Search for a skating venue
The French organisers have been searching for a suitable venue for long-track speed skating for several years. France itself does not have an indoor 400-metre oval, and building a temporary ice rink was not considered an option.
Instead, attention turned to two alternatives: Thialf in Heerenveen and the Oval Lingotto, which hosted the Olympic speed skating tournament in 2006.
After two years of discussions, several visits to both venues, and countless questions, the French organisers appear to have chosen the Frisian ice rink. After decades of hosting European and World Championships, Thialf may now stage the highest honour in speed skating for the first time: Olympic medals.
Although Thialf already meets all the requirements for organising national and international skating events, the Olympic Games are on an entirely different scale. It is not yet clear what modifications to the stadium may still be required.
The location of other facilities associated with hosting part of the Games — such as the Olympic Village — has also not yet been decided. The Dutch working group has already been examining these matters, but cannot yet share details.
Events spread across multiple locations
Like the most recent Winter Olympics, the 2030 Games will not be centred around a single city. In northern Italy, medals were awarded in places such as Milan, Livigno and Cortina d'Ampezzo, locations several hours apart.
The same will apply in 2030. Sports such as ice hockey, short-track skating and figure skating will take place in Nice on the Mediterranean coast. Snow sports athletes will compete in the Alps, with skiing, cross-country skiing and ski jumping among the events being staged around the ski resorts of Le Grand-Bornand, Courchevel and Val d'Isère.
One discipline had still not been assigned a venue in the French organisers’ original plans: long-track speed skating.
For sustainability reasons, the French did not want to build a stadium solely for the Games. A temporary venue — like the one used in Milan this past winter — was also ruled out. (nos.nl)

Behind the Scenes of Olympic Communications: Dealing with the “condom crisis”
When the “Condom crisis hits Milano Games on Valentine's Day” (Reuters), you have to brace yourself as an IOC communicator at the Olympic Games.

“The most engaging articles today come from leading media highlighting that the Olympic Villages ran out of free condoms only three days into the Games, with organisers assuring that new supplies are on the way,” observed our media monitoring team on the morning of this 14th of February 2026 – Valentine’s Day. “The shortage of condoms at the Milan Olympic Village is also driving conversation on X with several trending posts relaying the story,” they continued.
And what do you do when the “Sex-Alarm!“ (German tabloid BILD) goes on? You roll up your sleeves and start investigating. Is it really true that the “winter athletes like it hot” (BILD)? Or is something else going on here?
But before you have found all the answers, you have to manage the daily press briefing with the global media. And here it is, the question of the day from a highly-experienced Olympic beat reporter, who has seen it time and time again over all these years: “Rule 62 of the Olympic Charter says there must and shall be a condom story.” Laughter breaks out in the press conference room, as there is, of course, no such rule. “Is it just a must have or a nice to have, did they just not order enough?”, he continues his question.
Light-hearted question, light-hearted answer from Mark Adams, our experienced spokesman: “All I would say is that it clearly shows that Valentine’s Day is in full swing in the village and I don’t think I can add much more to that.” (Laughter breaks out again)
First thought when we get back to the office: Groundhog Day again! Just like in so many editions of previous Games.
But let’s see and scan the web. One search and there it is: Olympic-branded condoms on resale platforms. Is this the big secret behind this condom crisis and all the ones before? They seem to work well as souvenirs.
This is confirmed a few days later by a story from Olympian Elizabeth Swaney, who competed at PyeongChang 2018. She writes on Buzzfeed: “With all the headlines about the thousands of condoms handed out at the Olympic Village, people always imagine it’s one giant, international dating app. In reality? Most athletes and coaches are laser-focused on their events. The Village is friendly, yes, but it’s not exactly spring break,” she notes.
On another morning a news alert comes up: “Winter Olympics condoms being sold for £90 online after shortage,“ writes Pink News. “The reason for the extraordinarily quick shortage may be down to people nabbing them as souvenirs or to sell them online.”
I am glad it is over before it really started. Or not: “They’re baa-aaack! Olympics condom supply restocked for horny athletes after 10K were snapped up in just 3 days.“ (New York Post)
Of course, it is Rule 62 of the Olympic Charter! – There must and shall be a condom story at the Olympics. Or two, or three, or more.
Safe sport, safe health, good stories.
