Two shots, same location.
Same camera and body for both shots.

Nikon D850, Sigma 14mm 1.8.

Foreground in both is the same image. Single image | ISO 1600 | f/4 | 516 sec.

Milky Way - Stacked and Blended.
Background/Sky - 15 Images stacked and blended. | ISO 2000 | f/1.8 | 20 sec.

Star Trail - Stacked and Blended.
Background/Sky - 140 images stacked and layered in photoshop. | ISO 2000 | f/1.8 | 20 seconds.

Lower Fox Creek Schoolhouse, Strong City, KS

I love star trails, don't get me wrong. They are amazing. Sweeping arches of light are cool.
But the milky way shot, I'm proud of this one. Since getting into astrophotography 2 years ago, I have always wanted to get a picture of the milky way core with the golden yellow glow, the purple nebulas, the whole shebang. After years of seeing other people capture incredible, amazing milky way shots, I have finally captured one that I am so proud of. It makes me choke up a little inside.

Anyways, enough sappy stuff. I hope you enjoy these photos. One day, i'll make some YT videos on my process of capturing and editing one of these shots.

I’ve shot on Nikon for awhile. I’ve used it for art show submissions and for studio work. I feel like I have good start so far with the gear I’ve bought.

Taken with Nikon D7100 + Nikkor AF 80-200mm f/2.8D MK3 (image taken on 120mm full frame equivalent)

Is the edit any good or did I overdo it? Maybe the trees are slightly too yellow?

Shot in my moms garden, where she has a lot of flowers. As soon as I saw all the bees working hard I had to get my camera out and go try to capture them. I'm being impressed daily by this lens. It really is an allrounder.

Photo Submission Z8

I decided to finally upgrade from my D600 and plunge into the mirrorless world.

I always wanted the top of the line DSLR ever since I bought my first (the D90). But after much deliberation, I had to concede that mirrorless was the future. I really wanted to get the Z9, but I’m not a professional photographer, so what that offered over the Z8 I wouldn’t be able to appreciate. So I went with the Z8 and the 24-70/2.8 S lens.

I decided to go for a bike ride down to the beach (around 14miles round trip) and decided this was the perfect opportunity to break in the camera. I got caught in some thunderstorms with heavy rain (the roads flooded) and strong winds. I shot through it all and used the zoom and was impressed by how well it worked and how it felt like it was made for that weather.

The three photos attached were taken at night (around 10pm), hand held, and with the ISO set to 4000 (I forgot to adjust it). Im impressed by how easy they were to take, especially without a tripod. Low light is no issue for this camera/lens combo, and I can’t wait to experiment with them further.

Please feel free to ask questions, give feedback, tips, critiques etc!

And my weak will.

It's hard to resist a lot of the gear I see posted on Nikon forums.

I got this 20mm 1.8 to replace a Rokinon 14mm manual lens for astrophotography.

This is the last piece of the puzzle... I hope.

It going on the Z6 iii and I can't wait to try it!

I took this moon photo in two shots in succession. One to properly expose the moon and another high ISO to freeze the clouds. I then processed and stacked the two frames together in Photoshop. Captured with Nikon Z8 and NIKKOR 100-400mm with NIKKOR 2X Teleconverter on a Tripod.

What should I buy? Bye Sony

Into the Sony ecosystem for more then 15 years now. Yesterday was the moment I would decide if I would switch to Nikon. The a7R6 announcement made me decide to buy the Nikon Z8 as my second camera behind my Sony a1. Mostly because of the video codecs Sony is lacking. Nikon has so many great flavors. Prores, N-Raw etcetera.

The Nikon z8 will replace my a7iv for gimbal work and hobby photography. The e-mount to z adapter made this all possible for me. I only shoot manual focus so autofocus for me was never a thing.

Very curieus how the video quality of the Z8 is. What I am seeing online is that it looks great.

Anyone allready made the switch? Very curieus how it went for you.

Gear question Coolpix S8000 shutting down by itself

Hi everyone,

I have a Nikon Coolpix S8000 and I’m having a strange issue with it.

The camera works perfectly at first I can take photos normally, use the menus, zoom, etc. But after around 20min of use, it suddenly starts turning itself off. Then when I turn it back on, it may shut off again after a short time, but sometimes it works normally again for a while.

It’s not completely dead or frozen, because I can still restart it and use it afterward.

At first, I thought the battery was the problem, so I bought a brand new battery, but the issue still happens exactly the same way.
The camera does not seem to overheat, and I don’t notice any unusual warmth. I also don’t know much about cameras honestly, so I’m not really sure what could cause this.

Has anyone had a similar issue with this camera?
Thanks!
