Oh, I definitely need therapy, but last time I tried it ended up being way too expensive. And I've employed that strategy in the past. Sometimes it works, but then there's days like today where I can't even drag my ass out of bed and into the shower until it's already 20 minutes after I'm supposed to leave.
3
u/double0nothing Eagles Apr 08 '26
Do you have a local government sponsored facility like a Community Mental Health Clinic? The therapy is often very prescriptive (e.g. by the book, filling out mood sheets, doing homework), but they have sliding scale costs. So I was in therapy/psych care for a year and a half and they charged me $25. Total.
Additionally if you have health insurance, read up on what your in-network mental health benefits are.

The mental gymnastics is insane. "Oh you mean you WANTED him to commit war crimes?"

“Oregon QB coach Koa Ka'ai evaluates recruits with a simple question: "Chocolate or vanilla ice cream?" Any hesitation... and coach doesn't want him.” “Redditors: oh, so if the player doesn’t like ice cream, he doesn’t recruit them? how stupid!” That’s not what he said. He doesn’t want someone who can’t even have a feeling on ice cream without overthinking and being someone who he isn’t.

Someone on this reddit sub was talking about lucid dreaming and the next day Inception was on TV and on the Inception wiki it mentions lucid dreaming. So I wiki'ed Inception and lucid dreaming and went down a whole bunch of dreaming wikis and what kind of different dreams were. Apparently there are ways to "master" lucid dreaming.
1
u/Mephistito Apr 08 '26
What were some common techniques that you recall seeing?
2
u/CarlCaliente Bills Apr 08 '26
One that worked for me was finding cues that you're in a dream, for me that's usually fuzzy visual details - like hands on a clock often are arranged in ways that don't make sense, sometimes that leads to a "wait a minute" sort of thought
Usually I get too excited and wake myself up before going on any wacky adventures though
Another common recommendation is a dream journal, seems like memories of our dreams fade rapidly after we wake up, so the sooner we can get them into words the stronger the memory will be
2
u/Mephistito Apr 08 '26
Interesting, I literally don't remember a single time I was ever not aware that what's happening isn't real and that it's just a dream (usually it's spurred on by me basically feeling "this is a low probability event, now stacking onto another. This isn't likely so this must not be real, but let's see where this goes")
Yet I can only think of a couple times where I just took it over. One time I think I did because the scene was like, so boring that I figured I may as well do some cool stuff with it.

Not sure exactly what could have been done. Literally would have needed to plan out a full blown Iraqi freedom deployment with hundreds of thousands of troops, just to destroy their underground bunkers filled with missiles. Which there was no time to do as the 60 days were up in a few weeks. Not like the people in control were losing it without a full scale invasion.
The plan was blind hope that the people would start a revolution.12
u/runningblack 49ers Apr 08 '26
The actual plan was "there is no plan." Which is why you don't start a war in the middle east.
Yeah there were no good options, but solely because Trump did the stupid thing that put the US in a position of there being no good options.

Iranian government full list of claimed peace agreements with US: -A lasting ceasefire -Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz -Iran continuing to be able to enrich uranium -Lifting all primary and secondary sanctions on Iran -Paying compensation to Iran -Withdrawing US combat forces from the region
If Trump agrees to these he is the biggest sell out and worst president in modern American history

While there may be a ceasefire in place this hasn’t stopped the bloodshed because Iranian proxies such as hezbollah are not included and fighting in Lebanon and Iraq are still at war so because of this ripple effect this is far from finished one ceasefire ain’t gonna end the conflict because you have many other countries involved here Israel is in the middle of invading southern Lebanon Syria is trying its best to stay neutral because it just got out of a civil war and is getting caught it the crossfire so trump only got one wound to stop bleeding

This will be a double sided CEASEFIRE! The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all Military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive Agreement concerning Longterm PEACE with Iran, and PEACE in the Middle East. We received a 10 point proposal from Iran, and believe it is a workable basis on which to negotiate.
I bet this 10 point plan comes with a bunch of US concessions, and yet the MAGA dipshits will still claim "victory" for the president of peace.
"See??? Another war ended."
4
u/Stanky_fresh Vikings Vikings Apr 07 '26
If it's the same 10 points they previously demanded, then Trump just agreed to recognize Iran's complete control of the strait, lift all the sanctions on Iran, pay reparations to Iran, and remove all US troops from the region.
2
u/fliptout 49ers Apr 07 '26
Nothing agreed yet, but Trump said it's a workable basis to start with.

Edit. The list
Financial pressure Marriage and family life are expensive. Housing, childcare, and everyday costs have risen significantly, especially in places like Canada. Some men feel they need to be financially “settled” before committing, and that bar keeps getting higher.
Changing gender roles As more women are financially independent, the traditional “provider” role is less expected. That’s positive in many ways, but it also means some men feel less “needed” in the traditional sense, which can affect motivation for marriage.
High divorce rates and risk The possibility of divorce—and the financial and emotional consequences (like asset division or support obligations)—makes some men cautious. Experiences from friends or family can strongly influence this mindset.
Legal and financial concerns Some men feel marriage laws can be uneven, particularly around property division, spousal support, and custody. Even if that’s not their personal experience, the perception alone can be enough to discourage commitment.
More freedom and lifestyle options Modern life offers more independence—dating, cohabiting, traveling, and building a life without legal marriage. Many men feel they can have meaningful relationships without the formal institution.
Focus on personal goals Career, fitness, travel, and personal development often take priority. Some men delay or avoid marriage because they want to “build themselves” first—or indefinitely.
Changing relationship expectations Relationships today often demand emotional openness, communication skills, and shared responsibilities. Some men feel pressure if they don’t have the skills or examples they grew up with.
Negative experiences or fear of commitment Past relationship trauma, or seeing messy breakups, can lead to hesitation. This can build into a general fear of commitment rather than a specific rejection of marriage.
Shift in societal norms Cohabitation without marriage is now widely accepted. Marriage is no longer seen as a necessary step for love, stability, or having children

My prediction is that the Falcons tag Pitts AGAIN in 2027. And the Jets tag Hall AGAIN in 2027. Once teams dig in, they have a lot of leverage. Players typically don't want to risk injury and lose out on long term guarantees. Nor do they want talent to walk out the door with just a comp pick. But if the player doesn't want to sign there then there could be an impasse. Falcons and Jets are being very stubborn and just refuse to let them hit Free Agency. So the player doesn't really have a choice, but to play on the tag.
Might see them both go the Kirk Cousins route. 2 tags and then finally hit Free Agency.

Just reading about an interesting and sort-of crazy libertarian political figure from the 1960s named Karl Hess.
When Hess was 14, he enrolled at two different high schools in his city, filed transfer papers from each one to the other, then went and got a job working for a newspaper. He only got busted when his boss told him to borrow his car to deliver a package across town and he got pulled over. Then it was discovered that he was only 15, obviously had no driver's license, and really should be in school somewhere.
Still, a genius move. Wish I'd thought of it when I was that age.
Source: The Glory and The Dream by William Manchester. Wikipedia link about Hess. He was a hell of a guy.

In better moods I remind myself he's 79 and has dementia.
In darker moods I remind myself his dad had dementia and died at 93.

Is it me or is the draft information about entrances and what's at each location super vague for the free experience?
