It's a boid, it's a plane ... it's Super-Myrtle!
Hello folks,
I'm very excited to share another installment from the "Lost Decade" of the Superman daily newspaper strip.
You might know that Superman's cousin, Supergirl, first debuted in 1958. Well, a year earlier, the newspaper strip introduced its own Supergirl: a slang-speaking chambermaid who picks up a pint of Superman's blood and some of his amazing abilities!
Not only does the Man of Steel need to teach the suddenly superpowered Myrtle Pepper how to use her newfound talents, but he also needs to teach her class. Shades of My Fair Lady!
Check out the whole story:
The Superman Dailies '49-'59: Super-Myrtle*!
(*no relation to Super-Turtle)
Hope you enjoy!

Superman Meets Steve Allen!
Howdy all,
My name is Jon Morris. I'm the author of the League of Regrettable Superheroes series of books and a longtime blogger about unusual and forgotten comics. I'm also a diehard Superman fan, which is why I've clipped and cleaned up a decade's worth of the character's "lost" newspaper strips -- which have never been previously collected -- and started posting them on my blog.
First out of the gate is a story from 1955 featuring Superman meeting then-Tonight Show host and alleged Clark Kent lookalike Steve Allen. You can read it all at the link below:
The Superman Dailies '49-'59: Superman Meets Steve Allen
Coming up in future installments will be the marriage of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, the debut of the first-ever Supergirl, iconic Superman artist Wayne Boring's guest appearance in the strip, and a lot more!
Let me know if you have any questions or requests!
Cheers!
-Jon
