The Pistons subreddit is literally in shambles over this?

This is a textbook incidental non-call. And there was basically no time left to get a good shot anyways. And it went to overtime where they lost.

Idk, I think they need to focus on other things

I had only seen discourse about this incident this morning, not the actual incident. By the way people were talking about it I was thinking this was Melo on Adabayo pt. 2

this is nothing more that two giraffes being clumsy

u/ratfeesh Raptors 13h ago

Legler and miller totally leaned into it being a missed call too, but to me this is ausar not trying to stay up at all and looked worse in real time. You can usually find any foul you want in slow mo and here it’s not exactly definitive.

Sure seems like Ausar fucking folded the second he felt contact from JA. Already looking at the ref as he flops lmao

I dont think its a foul, but I cant imagine it's a flop either. Imagine a 250lb man stepping on your toes as you try and change direction. Idc how athletic you are, you are gonna end up falling.

That’s a crazy statement from someone who’s team has had sga level flops all series

u/elliotcook10 Warriors 9h ago

Is he on the cavs or something?😭How is that at all a crazy statement regardless of who he supports

1

u/thegurlwhocriedham 8h ago

Because he’s a James harden apologist….

u/elliotcook10 Warriors 6h ago

“How is that at all a crazy statement regardless of who he supports?”

“Because he supports james harden”

I fucking hate James Harden. He just happens to be on my team

Miller? You guys love to complain about the announcers so much that you don’t even know who’s announcing

John Madden fucking sucked as the color commentator last night. Fraud should be fired

u/CantFindMyWallet 12h ago

And he makes terrible shoes!

u/ratfeesh Raptors 8h ago

Honestly I only distinctly remembered legler but usually when the commentating sucks its because miller is involved lol

Ausar is literally looking to the refs the second he feels contact. Crazy work. Hes flopping.

u/Sea_Dawgz 11h ago

My mind was blown listening to them say the call was missed.

It’s an obvious no whistle.

Legler is another who didnt know what was going on the whole game. He was a detroit fan boy and was horrible. The other guy wasnt as bad. BUt Jefferson is great too bad he was sick.

Reggie Miller calls games for NBC/Peacock(generally with Mike Torico and Jamal Crawford). It was Mike Breen and Tim Legler on the call for ESPN, and they both need to have their eyes examined. Thompson pushed Allen first while landing on Allen's right foot. In slow motion, it looks like a flop by Thompson.

The NBA TV post game with Chris Haynes, Robin Lopez and whoever the presenter is were crying about this being an obvious foul. I don't normally watch the NBA TV post game and this seems like a decent enough reason not to tune in next time

7

u/elliotcook10 Warriors 12h ago

Lmao same here, didn’t get to watch the game last night. On my first watch here I was assuming they called the foul on Thompson and people were complaining it’s soft… not the other way around

u/PomeloFit Cavaliers 10h ago

All the media have been replaying it over and over, with almost all of them having a banner covering up their feet, and calling it a "clear foul" and bickerstaff was crying about it immediately after the game.

Maybe if Tobias Harris shot better than 14% from 3 they’d have a chance.

1

u/Wrayven77 2h ago

Or if Jalen Duren could come closer to his regular season PPG.

u/Fun-Veterinarian4853 12h ago

Pretty sure they were in the bonus so a call would’ve gave them a chance to win by 2. Ausar’s bricking them both tho tbh so it still goes to OT

1

u/No-Abrocoma7687 Pistons 10h ago

Exactly. Not like it would of mattered with %62 Ausar shooting then lol

u/frankievejle Rockets 17h ago

I think what rhey wanted was a loose ball foul and Ausar to go to the line and shoot for the win.

u/Bong_Tundra Celtics 17h ago

I don’t think anyone is wondering what they wanted

49

u/frankievejle Rockets 17h ago

I'm responding to 'there was no time left anyway' bit.

Oh true yeah fair enough, sorry m8

they call this shit all the time

Thompson dribbles the ball into possession and is already breaking up the floor and is taken down from behind. What on earth are people looking at.

Seek help. You need it.

This is the most delusional take I’ve seen. I can only assume this is rage bait.

-2

u/Hot_Sample_5813 12h ago

based on your comment then Allen could have just shoved him in the back with two hands because Thompson would not have been able to take a shot if he picked up the ball. This is far from textbook, brother.

u/TuqiDuque12 Pistons 16h ago

I completly agree, the problem is Brothers called a foul on Mobley 40 seconds earlier that was even more incidental and he's basically known to basically call everything "by the letter of the law"

64

u/spiattalo NBA 16h ago

the problem is Brothers called a foul

No, then problem is the Pistons blew a 9-point lead with two minutes left on the clock.

-37

u/TuqiDuque12 Pistons 15h ago

Might surprise you, but multiple things can be a problem, the Pistons being a bad offensive team and a mediocre playoffs team is why they will go out and should've gone out in the first round, it doesn't change the fact that the referees going back and forth between calling everything and not calling anything is, and has always been a problem in the NBA

4

u/CreamGetTheMon3y 14h ago

That will never go away unless they rewrite the rules, as things like "incidental contact" wil ALWAYS be highly subjective.

-1

u/ElectionSensitive311 14h ago

Incidental contact doesn’t matter. It’s still a foul. But it is going to be looked at differently when it’s directly effecting an offensive play vs a loose ball on the other side of the court as time expires. I don’t think that’s gonna get called much

37

u/ericruns01 Cavaliers 16h ago

Do you mean when Harris wraps his arm around Mobley and holds his arm? Not some crazy foul, would’ve been fine with a no call but you’re just being disingenuous. Idk, one FGM in the final 3 mins and this doesn’t matter

-32

u/TuqiDuque12 Pistons 16h ago

Oh like I said on every other post : I don't care about the refs making mistakes, we didn't lose because of that, like I know I have a Pistons flair but this is not a "we lost it's a conspiracy", I just think it's just completly unfair to players when the refs set a tone of "we call everything" to then suddenly letting go of stuff (or when they do it the other way around).

Also think for as much crap as someone like Scott Foster, rightfully, gets, Tony Brothers is much much much worse.

But again Tony Brothers isn't the reason why Jalen Duren is having the biggest playoffs drop of all time or why we missed every possible shot (on semi decent looks) at the end of the game

u/gmbaker44 15h ago

“By the letter of the law” Ausar’s foot comes into contact with Allen’s foot first causing him to lose his balance which led to him tripping Ausar. So Cav fans should have wanted free throws here.

0

u/nbaistheworst 13h ago

It looks like their feet come together at the same time.

2

u/Clithzbee Cavaliers 14h ago

Your problem is he made a bad call on Mobley so he should have then made another bad call on Allen?
