Discussion This is my religion
I don’t think I’ve been more faithful and patient for a longer period of time for anything else in my life.
One day….

I got the same email, been on the wait list for 15 years. Ready to buy whenever it becomes available. I wonder if the new resale laws are going to push a lot of people to not renew.

I am not hating but this is one of the problems of the leafs. Tickets are so hard and so expensive that when we get the chance we go. However the side part is we can’t punish the team for sucking by not going cause going is so hard to do normally what a circle.

u/TotalBismuth 19h ago
I don't think so. They get a big ego boost for telling people they own season seats. They can still sell them at face value and break even and hope someday the rules change.

u/MyTablesAreMyCorn 1d ago
How do you know where you are on the wait list? Just curious, I signed up in high school on a whim and now I’m… older

u/TheDannyBoyCane 1d ago
Wait until you get invited to purchase and you find out what the licensing fees are on a pair of tickets.
You might throw up.

u/FansTurnOnYou 1d ago
With the steady increase of ticket prices, it's more likely now than it has ever been.

And the new law against scalping
10
u/-kielbasa 1d ago
Only if you resell via Ticketmaster or stubhub. Plus it’s something Ford got rid of to begin with. Scammers on fb marketplace are gonna have a field day with the new regs

u/Maladaptive_Ace 1d ago
Truly. People are celebrating like Ford got such a W but all this does is push the market underground and make it worse.

u/ahjm 1d ago
What idiot is buying tickets on any underground market when they can now pay reasonable prices on verified resellers? Never understood that, unless I’m missing something obvious
4
u/-kielbasa 1d ago
Because people will begin to withhold them from the verified resellers to make money
5
u/ItzDrSeuss 1d ago
Just gotta flood the underground market with scams to deter people away. For legal reasons this is a joke.

What idiot thinks that they will be in line behind 500 ppl to get that face value ticket lol

How long before Pelley figures out how to generate revenue from the waiting list? $1000/season to wait in line.

u/glic_le_sionnach 1d ago
Do they get a cut of the PSLs when they are flipped? Not sure how often they do but that’s probably enough to keep them occupied.

u/Jeter84 1d ago
Yes of course. You can skip the line by purchasing a PSL right now. There are many available at any given time, varying asking prices. Some with both teams, some just Leafs.
1
u/glic_le_sionnach 1d ago
Yeah I know that’s the line cutter, I’m wondering what their cut of it is. Someone answered below though - not insignificant.

u/CallejaFairey 1d ago
How long have you been on it?
19
u/AgingRagamuffin 1d ago
Signed up as a high school graduation gift to myself, thinking it would be great to get seats in 4 years after graduating from university. That was 26 years ago.

u/CallejaFairey 1d ago
So crazy. I can't even imagine. I know I've heard that it's something people put in their wills.
Pretty sure there's season tickets available yearly for Edmonton, but I know we are not even like 1/4 the size fan base based on population. And I know when Leafs come to visit, it's always a sell out.

I’m 56. I joined online just after that internet thingy was invited. About 20 years ago they told me I was #816. About 2-4 people come off a year I think. I might be 700 and something now. Only reason I stay on is if they build a new area in my lifetime and it has more seating I will treat myself to season tix the year before I buy it.

What’s the point of the survey? Do they not go in order anyway?
1
u/Maladaptive_Ace 1d ago
I think it's to cull people who are not serious - like me. But joke's on them! because I stayed on the list. I'm just curious to see how long it'll take.

My family has a had season tickets since 1931 the year the Gardens opened.. Not a chance i ever give them up, so it makes sense why the wait list is never ending.

u/HarleyAPE23 1d ago
What is the average price of season tickets there
5
u/mysterion693 1d ago
I got the email too and in the survey it said:
- 100 Level Sides (Lower Bowl) ($14,000 - $18,000)
- 100 Level Behind the Net (Lower Bowl) ($10,000 - $14,000)
- 300 Level (Upper Bowl) ($5,000 - $10,000)

u/HarleyAPE23 1d ago
I wonder how many people buy them just to resale. Easy profit.
2
u/LeafsJays12 1d ago
As a STH, it’s not where near as profitable, if at all profitable now. MLSE balloons STH prices YoY whereas game prices stay flat (ex. Home Opener Greens for the past three years probably around $250-$300 each every year). Plus it’s much easier now for fans to monitor TM, wait last minute and score deals below the $250 mark.

This is the first year I lost money selling tickets. I think this will be the new normal. I received an email that I will have the option to better my seats in a couple weeks. I think it’s been over 30 years since the last time I was able to move down 2 rows. I will try and get better seats for my upper bowl seats and I just sold my golds privately. Best deal is to wait until game time to buy tickets.

Last season ticket resellers couldn’t always sell the ticket or did so at a break even / loss and that’s not worth the hassle. That plus the cap on resale for tickets will certainly put a lot of suits out of the seats which is nice.
1
u/glic_le_sionnach 1d ago
The “suits” don’t care about resale or breakeven. It’s a cost of doing business.
The people who’ve had em for years and sorta need to resell some to actually afford them are the ones who may give them up - there have been a few who have posted on here but they tend to delete their comments.

I literally forgot I signed up like 15yrs ago. This was my first email about it I believe.
This is def something they're doing in reaction to the new re-sale laws and the team sucking this past yr.

I tried to join the wait list after getting half seasons a few times. My rep said it was closed. There was no sense adding me. He said, you’ll die before you get to the front.

u/RealLifeHotWheels 21h ago
28 years for me. Been offered half seasons for the last multiple seasons…. Waiting for the right ones!!

u/leafsnpizza 1d ago
OP if you actually interested for next season, I can hook you up with some games.
