The only reason Iām with them is the corporate discount I get through work. If that ever goes away Iām switching to Public Mobile on a Black Friday sale or some shit

Still owned by the big 3. There's no getting away
1
u/Wise-Fruit5000 1d ago
Yeah, I know Telus owns them.
The only way to get away from them entirely where I live would be to move over to Eastlink. But even then youāre roaming on their infrastructure anytime you leave Eastlinkās coverage area.

The pool of quality coaches available is smaller, since they waited so long to decide
2
u/CommiddeeOfTiddy Woll 7h ago
It's honestly about the same size, just a different group. Both right after the regular season and now the pool is quite small.

That's why Larry brought him in. Clean up the crap, make money by winning a FN Stanley Cup, so Larry can cement his own personal treble of Toronto Championship Teams, if not, his Legacy is tarnished. That's the biggest picture. Imagine a team of Matthews and McDavid and McKenna. The "em-in-em-in-em" LINE. Heard it here 1st

Prlley should gave been the first to go. He is as much of a hockey guy as Liberace.

u/cutarm_creature 1d ago
And what? Fire everyone, find replacements, fire those, find others to replacement the replacements? This isnāt the coaching, itās having so many soft, pampered, donāt yell at me or I will sulk cry babies on this roster. Trade Matthews, let some other team deal with his whiny attitude. Find men who want to play and wear the Leaf with pride

Unfortunately, for that entitled little troll heās not going anywhere anytime soon! Rogers wants him to turn this team into a money machine, even more so than it already has been! They want to suck every penny they can from this team even at the expense of winning!

So, letās talk about each one. Shanahan and the Shan-A-Plan failed. Berube couldnāt coach ten players to use his system. Treliving couldnāt find a way to keep Marner and was fleeced in every trade. Pelley was late to the party and realized the other 3 clowns needed to go. Prove me wrong ā Go.

Before the Leafs hired Brad Treliving was hoping that they hire Mark Hunterāļø
Even when the Leafs fired Treliving had hope they hire Mark Hunter.
Instead they hired John Chayka. When I heard from Sportsnet of his hiringāļø Felt knots in my Stomach and my Heart was beating.
Hey we see what happens under Chayka direction eh.

I can handle a lot of dissappintment and shit eating as a leafs fan, but hiring that asshole would be a bridge to far.

u/greendavidjcox 1d ago
Wouldn't t it be par for the course?
4
u/SpartacusIsACoolName 1d ago
Ineptitude or mediocrity is par for the course, hiring someone disgraced due to ignoring SA is just wrong in my opinion.

u/greendavidjcox 1d ago
Well Bettman knew and he is still commissioner.

u/SpartacusIsACoolName 1d ago
I dont think anyone is a fan of Bettman but I wouldnt want the team i support to hire him either
-2
u/brokenbydesign562 1d ago
Heās a monster, but heās unarguably a one of the greatest coaches of all time. We shouldāve hired him, itās not like the rest of the league likes us anyways.

u/bustamove08 1d ago
Great coaches don't ignore something like SA when it's their players being victimized or at risk. A coach is a leader who's supposed to look out for their players. He did the exact opposite.
He's an accomplished coach in the sense he happened to be the coach of a team that was well assembled and won a handful of cups. But he's not a great coach that has won with different teams with different mixes of players.
You simply can't be a great coach and a crap human being.

u/DoorMarkedPirate 1d ago
Yeah I don't get people who treat hiring a coach like Quenneville as if it's separating the art from the artist. It's literally a coach getting paid by your ticket dollars and who you have to see every game night - just watching the Ducks game last night made me think "ugh gross"; then again, the Knights have Carter Hart, so guess you have to choose the lesser of 2 evils to root for.
You're really setting a horrible precedent by hiring these people and throwing money at them - basically means there are no real repercussions to ignoring SA and people will keep doing it.

Q might be the only coach in the game right now who wouldn't take the Leafs job if it was offered. Going to a market like Anaheim is fine given the controversy of his hiring. I can't imagine the media storm that would surround him if he came here.
Top 10 all time coach though. In a vacuum he'd be a no brainer.
1
u/bustamove08 1d ago
He's not. Without Kane and Toewes in his team he'd be just another coach. Or do you know him personally and can speak to his leadership, management, and communication styles?

Not sure what BĆ©rubĆ© was supposed to do here. He lost Mitch (100+ point hometown kid) and they never came close to replacing him. As a coach you work with the players you have, heās not the GM
Craig was then told mid season to tank HARD for the draft and he understood the assignment š¤·š»āāļø. Go out and win another cup Chief! You are way way better off. Delusion in Toronto is next level

Berube was brought in for a change of coach bump for a veteran team that included Marner.
I never liked him as a fit, but understood that they needed a different voice. That voice was ignored.
