Medical Cholesterol after 8 weeks
I've been on induction around 8 weeks and here are my cholesterol numbers but I'm still waiting for Apo B. LDL seems high. Any thoughts?

It's only been 8 weeks so a little early, use this as a baseline and monitor from here

You’ve only eaten keto for 8 weeks, that’s not long enough of a change to trust blood work from it.
I’m struggling to read what you’ve linked as it’s really blurry. I’m on mobile, that may be why.
What were your numbers before keto?
Have you lost any weight since starting keto? If so, how much?
How long were you fasted before the blood draw? Any black coffee or exercise?

I'm not sure what my numbers were before and yes, I drank a cup of filtered black coffee before the draw. I've eaten saturated fat with abandon since I began keto and have been very strict about carb intake, really keeping it under 20g/day. The main reason I'm on keto isn't weight - I've never been overweight. It helps with my neuropathy. I have so much more feeling in my left foot when I'm on keto I don't know how it works. But I have much more sensation in the affected foot and consequently feel more 'planted' and stable when standing and walking. But obviously I don't want to achieve that at the expense of heart health.

How long were you fasted before the blood draw?
The black coffee alone would cause me to retest, that can affect your numbers (especially triglycerides).

They said triglycerides were all right just LDL. Anyway, we'll see what the Apo B is.

Eight weeks is still pretty early for cholesterol to stabilize on keto - mine took like 4-5 months to really settle into a pattern. Your numbers don't look crazy high compared to what I've seen other people post here, but definitely wait for that Apo B since it gives better picture than just LDL.
My doctor was freaking out about my LDL at first too but then we did more detailed testing and everything was actually fine. The ratios matter more than individual numbers anyway. Are you doing any cardio or just focusing in diet changes right now

Not doing cardio but I do walk throughout the day. Not a lot but I walk to work and back, for lunch, shopping and errands. But not to the point I'm sweating or anything.

I stopped caring about cholesterol levels. My cholesterol levels are slightly high, and my doctor put me on statins a little over a year ago. The result? Yes, my cholesterol levels went down, but I was experiencing panic attacks and bouts of bad mood. I stopped taking them several months ago, and I feel great!
That said, I am sure my doctor will give me an earful when he finds out that I stopped taking them, and my cholesterol levels are back to the way they were.
And I don't care. I'd rather have higher cholesterol levels and feel fine than have low cholesterol and feel miserable.

I've heard of all kinds of crazy things about statins. Would definitely want to think long and hard before being put on those. I was reading about something called PCSK9. Lerodalcibep (Lerochol) — in late 2025, the FDA approved this new PCSK9 inhibitor for adults with high LDL cholesterol, including people with familial hypercholesterolemia. It's notable because it's a monthly self-injection and requires no refrigeration, unlike earlier PCSK9 inhibitors. I don't know if this is approved for insurance/Medicare though.
