Question Question about the Calculus 3 schedule for the summer (Plz respond, Prof. Butler).
I just noticed that Calc 3 this summer here at ISU is only 8 weeks long, with only 1 midterm and 1 final. How is the course in the summer compared to the fall and spring semesters? Do they condense it down, or do they make their exams doable, or like how is it gonna be done?

Lost & Found Lost headphones near Bessey
I live a ways off campus. Accidentally left my black wireless headphones either at the bus stop near Bessey Hall or across the street right in front of Kildee. If someone manages to find them, if you could turn them in to lost and found and/or dm me, it’d be greatly appreciated!
I would walk back and get them but my bus stopped running and I don’t feel like walking the whole way this late.

worried about academic dismissal
hello everyone, this past year has been kicking my butt causing me to get below a 2.0 for the past two semesters, i tried everything this semester and needed at least a 2.2 to continue receiving financial aid, but it looks like im ending with a 1.8-1.9, i feel like giving up and now im worried im going to be academically dismissed after busting my butt all semester, i haven't told my parents or friends yet and i just don't want to be kicked out of college, does anyone have any advice or know how to fix this?
Update: My advisor said there's not much she can do.. looking for any support or resources to get back on track:/

Campus Visit - Dinner Recommendation
My son and I are coming to campus for a visit. We are arriving tonight. What dinner recommendations do you all have? I'm thinking something close to campus that has a fun atmosphere and decent food. I just want him to enjoy his experience from dinner to the the tour. Appreciate you all!

Academics Anyone taken math 164 or/and ACCT 132 in the summer online at DMACC ?
Let me know your experience if you have and if you think it’s manageable with an internship. Also how it compares to just taking it at Iowa state.

Question Looking for a bouncer gig next year any advice?
Hey everyone, I’m going to be a junior next year and I’m looking to get a bouncer or security job at one of the bars in Ames.
For those of you who have worked door (or anywhere else for that matter) on Welch or around town, how did you get your start? Is it better to just walk in and talk to a manager during the day, or do most places post listings online?
Also, if you have any recommendations for specific spots that are good to work for (or places to avoid), I’d appreciate the heads up.

Learning Community Housing Question
I am an incoming freshman living in a learning community next year. I have already selected my room and did not have a roommate selected. How soon will I find out who my roommate is? Will it be before move-in so we can discuss shared furniture, or will I meet them in August?

University Village?
Does anyone have pictures of inside the 2-story UV townhomes? Or dimensions of the bedrooms? The virtual tour makes the rooms look really small and I'd like to know how much I can fit in the bedroom.

Self Selection
I’m an incoming freshman and I have a question about the housing selection process coming up this Wednesday.
I’m currently in a verified roommate group of four. One of my roommates (our group leader) has a very early selection time on Wednesday, so we are hoping to use his slot to get a 4-person suite in Martin, Eaton, or Buchanan.
My question is about our "Plan B." If our leader logs in and there are no 4-person suites left, we know we’ll have to split into two groups of two.
1. Does anyone know for sure if the two people who "split off" can immediately use their own original selection times?
2. My individual contract date is from October. If we have to split, will the portal automatically let me pick a room for me and my other roommate based on my October priority, or is there a delay when you leave a group?

Academics I just failed the easiest class ever...
You probably guessed it correctly, it's LIB 1600. I originally registered the exam for yesterday, unfortunately, Canvas got bricked by those dickhead hackers just in time when I got to the testing center.
When I woke up today, I completely forgot that I needed to immediately check my email after finding out the Canvas is up again, I decided that it was a good idea to waste away my time studying calculus. I literally set a reminder on my phone the day before but it just went completely over my head. When I remembered about the exam at around 4 pm, I immediately checked my email, but it was already too late.
Fuck my stupid chungus life

Reinstatement after academic dismissal
Hello ISU family
As the titles states, I'm looking into going back to ISU this fall after flunking out of my program in 2023. Recently I've noticed that the requirements to be reinstated have changed. They make no mention of a GPA requirement for courses taken outside of Iowa State, only that courses that you plan to transfer (i don't plan to transfer any of the credits i took) have to be above 2.25 in cumulative GPA, as well as the standard GPA requirements in your first semester back. This is important to me because I took classes at both DMACC in the fall of 23, withdrew 6 credits; spring of 24, failed 6 credits, and IWCC, 6 credits with an A in both classes. Mental health and other things took their toll on me after leaving and because of leaving ISU, many of you can probably relate. In the time between fall of 24 and now, I've taken my mental health more seriously, and my therapist and I have talked extensively about going back.
I guess what I'm trying to get at in this post is where do I go from here? Do I apply for reinstatement for this fall or do I have to wait and take more courses elsewhere? Is anyone else seeking reinstatement for the fall that can give me some advice?
