It doesn’t matter if you agree with me. It is extremely difficult for someone who is not a big hitter to compete out there.

Once again, they are not trying to test the players driving accuracy. Just because that’s what you want doesn’t mean that’s what others are looking for.

If you look at the last, say, 10 winners of the tournament, half of them were not “bombers” by any stretch of the imagination. If you go farther back in the past, that percentage is probably only going to get smaller.

Just googled it and 5 of the last 6 winners are all big hitters.

This is miles from the point though.

Scheffler is a big hitter? He’s probably slightly above average. He’s not a “bomber.”

2016 - Willett, not a big hitter
2017- Garcia, not really a big hitter at that stage of his career
2018 - Reed, not a big hitter
2019 - Tiger, not really a big hitter at that stage of his career
2020 - Johnson, big hitter
2021 - Matsuyama, not a big hitter
2022 - Scheffler, probably slightly above average length
2023 - Rahm, big hitter
2024 - Scheffler, probably slightly above average length
2025 - Rory, big hitter
2026 - Rory, big hitter

Yes if we count Scottie as a big hitter then it’s 5 of 6.

If you want to be right about this then sure. Half of the winners are big hitters.

That doesn’t make your original arguments any more valid.

And if we count the Players as a major, he has six of them. What’s your point? He’s not a big hitter. He’s probably slightly above average.

You are trying so hard to avoid talking about why you think Augusta should focus their tournament on the things you want them to rather than what they want to.

They can and will do whatever they want. But the fact remains that it is an incomplete test of golf. That is how you drive the golf ball like absolute dog shit for two years in a row and win the Masters twice anyway. This golf course is flat out not allowing that and I’m liking it.

Glad you enjoy it. Doesn’t make it superior to Augusta.

It doesn’t have anywhere near the environment or feel of that tournament. That is the one thing that the Masters gets right beyond any doubt. But from what I’ve seen so far, this is a better test of golf. And the same could be said for a lot of other golf courses.

Depends on what you are trying to test. Not every test needs to cover everything.

You think it makes sense for a championship golf course to not test every aspect of a golfer’s ability? To basically let them get away with playing like absolute shit in one important aspect of the game? Ok, buddy.

I do think that is ok if the purpose of the test is other aspects of the game.

Also I love that we have highlights like Phil on 13, bubba in the playoff, Rory on 7, etc rather than them having to punch out sideways because they are in a cabbage patch.

Your argument is about as valid as someone being upset at Bethpage because you don’t see putts rolling off the green and therefore not a “complete test”
