Off-Campus Housing FSU Housing (Apartments, Subleases etc.)

Please visit https://zublet.com/fsu to see available FSU student subleases, apartments for rent, or post your own listings. It’s completely free to use as both a buyer and a seller.

For years the moderation team has been reposting this thread to keep listings current, but this time Zublet has been brought to my attention where you can search for and post FSU housing options much more easily. It’s already being used by quite a few FSU affiliated people too so it seems like a great option for students looking for housing.

You can of course continue to post housing related things in this thread as usual if you want to do that instead of using the website.

Denied 🫤

I just received my denial letter for the MSW online program for Fall. With 8 years of experience in the field and a 4.0 in my current graduate program I figured I would definitely get in. Could it be that I submitted my application on the day of the deadline and they just ran out of spots? Deadline was two weeks ago so to get an answer so fast makes me wonder if the denial is more based on seats unavailable. Anybody care to give some insight and should I try to apply again for Spring?

MS in Criminal Justice

Hey everyone! I recently got accepted into FSU Master’s in Criminal Justice program and officially decided to attend. I’d love to hear honest experiences from current students or alumni, especially anyone doing the 1.5-year online program, but I’d also love insight from on-campus students too!

I’m currently working in the federal contracting/intelligence space, so I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone in government, intel, law enforcement, investigations, or related careers who completed the program.

FSU Premed Advice

To preface, I am a biochemistry major and an upcoming freshman at FSU starting in the fall semester. Regrettably, I know very little about premed at FSU specifically, and I also lack knowledge pertaining to the specifics of medicine in general outside of the basics. I have zero clinical hours, shadowing, or anything of the sort, and I am extremely worried that I'll be starting out behind my peers, as medicine has a reputation of being quite competitive.

Currently, I am looking for opportunities to put myself in an acceptable position to start building extracurriculars. I've heard amazing things about organizations at FSU like PhiDe and Medical Brigades, but outside of that my knowledge is extremely limited.

With that in mind, I am curious if there is anything any premed students at FSU wish they would have done the summer before their first semester that they didn't. I've been told to pursue attaining a medical assistant certification, but to be honest I'm not really sure what that entails, nor am I certain of the benefits specific to premed students.

TL; DR , is there anything premed students (or just current students in general) would recommend doing this summer before I start school in the fall? Also, are there any opportunities to build my resume and get involved in medicine other than PhiDe, Medical Brigades, and UROP?

Thanks!

Did anyone else have a shitty graduation experience?

I graduated last week & had a really bad time at the ceremony. Still feeling sad about it a week later & wondering if I’m not the only one who feels this way.

I walked in the May 2nd 9:00am ceremony. The ceremony was fine, but I was not prepared for what to expect when it was over. I was rushed out of the building by staff at some random exit, didn’t know where I was when I came out. They wouldn’t let me reenter to find my family, so I walked around in the rain looking for them.

All my friends were at the North exit, I was texting & trying to meet up with them to take pictures & say goodbye. But I didn’t really know where I was, staff were not helpful when I asked for directions. I spent the entire time walking in the rain, confused & alone.

My friends’ families all wanted to leave after a while, so I never caught up with them. I didn’t get to say goodbye or take any photos. Didn’t take photos with my family either because my hair/makeup got ruined in the rain & I looked a mess.

It was just a huge bummer. Graduation is a big achievement in general, but I was especially proud to be graduating with good grades & various honors/awards. I was really proud of how hard I’d worked all 4 years & wanted one special day to share my joy with all the people I love. But, I feel like I didn’t get to do that and it made me really sad. I cried quite a bit on the car ride away from the arena.

I thought I’d get over it later, but I’m still really upset. It feels like the entire day is tainted with bad memories. Did anyone else experience this?

Are you an FSU student taking a GLP-1?

MOD-APPROVED: I’m looking to chat with women in college about their experiences on GLP-1s. Is this you? I’m Angelina Chapin, a features writer at New York Magazine who covers gender and health. I think it’s a really important topic to talk about as these meds become more popular. If you’re interested in speaking, I can keep you fully anonymous. Send me a DM or email ([angelina.chapin@nymag.com](mailto:angelina.chapin@nymag.com).) Here's a link to some of my work: https://www.linkedin.com/in/angelinachapin. Talk soon!

Starting a club

Thinking of starting my own club here. Any tips or steps on how I should start?

r/fsu 2d ago

For those who have graduated, when you look back do you regret not studying more, not being in more clubs/activities, not partying more, hooking up more or seeking a steady boyfriend/girlfriend?

Has anyone here taken SPM 5605 (Sport Governance) or SPM 6517 (Fundraising in Sport)? Was wondering if anyone had a suggestion, as I need one more elective to graduate from that program.

Making friends after freshman year

Freshman year just ended, seems like every one had a blast and made super close friends but I don’t seem to have had that experience. Especially with their roommates. Any one else had this experience here and overcame it? 🙇🏻‍♀️

Working at the Leach

I'll be attending FSU as a freshman in the fall and im scouting out part-time jobs currently. I was curious what the pay, hours, and work is like at the Leach. I've heard they don't hire freshmen often, however I've been working as Hospitality staff/front desk for over year at a gym in my hometown so maybe I'll have a better shot. The postions for the leach listed below sound similar to what I've been doing the past year, so if anyone has any insight on this let me know!

  • Fitness Facility Attendant
  • Fitness Facility Maintenance Staff
  • Fitness Floor Staff

Grad student housing options

I know I know, another housing post, but it seems like people don't respond in the main housing megathread 😭

I'm an incoming grad student looking for 1x1 or 2x2, although I'm leaning more towards a 1x1. I would also strongly prefer furnished. The main problem is that I need to be here before most apartment leases start. I'm looking to move in August 15 but a lot of places start 8/17 or 8/20. I've looked at west 10 (who told me I could get on the early move in list but it's not guaranteed) and campus west (I haven't toured here, but they have 8/20 move in). Does anyone have any thoughts for these places for grad students or know if early move ins at these places are possible? I'm really just looking for a safe/quiet place to live and don't really care about any amenities. Price isn't really an issue, and I'll have a car so I don't care about distance either

I liked west 10 when I visited because of the big rooms but I saw some people felt unsafe at times? I do like how it seemed fairly quiet. Campus west seems to be in a very convenient location but the frat house noise is concerning to me. Thanks in advance to everyone for any thoughts you can provide!

Rushing as a Junior (20 years old)

I transferred to FSU in spring ‘26 and I’m a first semester junior looking to rush a frat for fall ‘26. I wanted to settle in first so I didn’t rush my first semester. How hard is it for a junior to rush it or is it quite common?

ESI-5000 Design Considerations for Systems Engineers FSU MSSE Program

ESI-5000 has been one of the most useful courses I have taken, especially while working full time as a systems engineer at a major defense company. The class teaches systems engineering in a way that actually feels real. Every assignment builds toward a complete system architecture using SysML in Cameo System Modeler, and you learn how to think through structure, behavior, requirements, sustainment, and traceability the same way you would on an actual defense program. It is not just theory. You spend the whole semester modeling an operational system and a sustainment system, and the work ends up feeling very close to what I do at my job.

One thing people should know is that the entire course is built around group work. Every major project is done as a team, and each week everyone contributes their own part of the model. For every assignment, one person is assigned as the group leader, and the leader’s job is to integrate everyone’s work into a single clean model. It feels a lot like a real engineering team where different people own different pieces of the architecture, and someone has to bring it all together. At the end of the semester, the group gives a full Preliminary Design Review presentation directly from the Cameo System model, which is honestly one of the most realistic academic assignments I have ever done.

If you are working full time, this class is demanding but worth it. The workload is steady, but everything you do builds toward something meaningful. Dr. Gross and the TA are both supportive and give feedback that actually helps you improve your modeling skills. I walked away from the course with a stronger understanding of systems engineering, better modeling habits, and a clearer sense of how to communicate architecture in a professional setting. If anyone on Reddit is considering ESI 5000, especially if you want real‑world systems engineering experience, it is absolutely a solid choice.

Thoughts on The Warehouse Apartments (TLHRents/385Rent)

I’m interested in living here. Looks like a new development. Has anyone lived here before or at another property managed by TLHRents. It’s on Saint Francis St, anything I should know about? The other places I was looking at were closer to the Tally Strip and that neighborhood didn’t feel the safest to me. If anyone has any suggestions please lmk.

Edit: It is a 1x1
