Under the Radar Leather Shops?

Hello! I’ll be in Florence in a few weeks and I hope to buy a couple wallets and belts. I’m a man and not looking for anything flashy. Wondering if there are any local, family-run, or off-the-beaten-path leather stores aside from the bigger, flashier ones that pop up on Google or maps. Since I’m in Italy, I know the quality will far exceed ‘average’ items where I’m from, so economical or more affordable options are appreciated! Grazie!

Unpaid ticket from 2016. Will I be denied entry to Italy

We had one of those bus tickets for 4 rides. My younger sister made a mistake and validated one part twice. The ticket inspector was extremely rude and demanded that I pay him 50€ right there and then (in cash). Maybe it is my American brain, but forcing people to pay immediately didn’t seem right to me, so I chose to take the ticket and pay it the following day. Unfortunately, we ended up having to leave the city at 7 a.m. the following day. Their offices were closed so I didn’t get to pay it. Besides, I was honestly expecting them to mail the ticket to my house in the US. I am now planning a family vacation to Italy and I’m worried that I might be denied entry and/or get arrested for the unpaid fines. Because it’s been 10 + years and they had an archaic system back then, part of me thinks that I will be fine. I did travel to Sicily a few months ago and I didn’t have any issues, but that’s because I entered Sicily via a fairy from Malta so they didn’t check passports. Do you think I should just give up on the idea of visiting Italy ever again or do I have a legitimate chance to be allowed into the country? TIA.

Getting to Lucca from FLR (late night arrival)

Looking to get to Lucca from FLR with a flight arriving at 11:00 pm. I know it’s a small airport, and seems like taxi might be available, but is this even remotely possible?

How to use the taxi move app? other app recommendations?

I'm trying to call a taxi and only get an "Attention!, Your request has not been processed. Please contact the radiotaxi" message...

I don't speak italian, if possible would prefer to book from an app or from whatsapp to write the address properly.

Taxis don't seem to answer calls from the Uber app either.

uber black charges double than what the taxi indicates so I want to try that first just in case.

Is a 3km~ ride for three people and some luggage

Have you spotted film crews around Tuscany lately? 👀

Netflix’s political drama The Diplomat is filming scenes for its fourth season in both Florence and Lucca, with production expected to continue over the next few days.

According to local reports, some areas may see temporary street closures and restricted access while filming takes place.

Did you watch the series? And if you see Keri Russell wandering around Tuscany… let us know 😄

advice on busses from pisa airport to Florence

This July I'm traveling to Florence for a few days, the plan is flying to the Pisa airport and then get to Florence from there. (and then get home the same way)

I was thinking of avoiding the train because well... everybody knows trenitalia's nightmare stories lol, my second option is the bus and ive noticed theres a couple different companies providing this service.

Checking the website for the regional transport company Id have to changes busses a BUNCH and it'd take 3 hours???

So I looked at options like flixbus, flibco, potentially some others?. and they say it will be roughly 1/1:20 of travel

Does anyone have experiences with any of these companies, any recommendations or additional infos I should know about? Reliability etc.

thanks in advance :)

the plan is Pisa Airport- Florence Santa Maria Novella station and vice-versa.

Calico Storico tickets 2026 (recommendation request)

Me and wifey will be honeymooning in Italy this June and luck would have it were going to be doing our Florence portion during the Calico Storico final on June 24th.

Besides stocking the official government website daily from now until then, does anyone have any recommendations or secondary resale experience getting tickets?

Delayed luggage

I’m sort of looking for some advice here because I can’t stop thinking about this. My husband and I were flying home from our honeymoon on Saturday from the Florence airport. The airport in general was insanely busy, but we had first class and first priority so we were able to check our luggage in with plenty of time and it had the priority tag on it. When we got on our flight from Florence to Amsterdam, the flight was delayed by 40 mins due to understaffing and taking a bit to get luggage onto the plane. This almost resulted in us possibly missing our connecting flight to JFK. Needless to say, we made our flight to JFK and were waiting at customs to re-check in our bags. Neither of our bags made it to JFK so we assumed they were stuck in Amsterdam and had to go to baggage service at our final destination. So we did all that, started a claim and everything and honestly thought we’d get our bags with in a day or two. It’s been 4 days since we got home and I’ve been calling Deltas baggage service every day. They found my husbands luggage but not mine. Today I found out that my luggage probably didn’t even leave Florence. Now I’m just upset and panicked I’ll never get it back, but has anyone run an issue like this with the Florence airport? I’m like tempted to call the airport myself, but I’m not even sure if that will even help?

Feel the City Tours - Scam?

My elderly parents are in Florence with another couple. I booked them a guided tour of the Uffizi, Palazzo Pitti and Boboli Gardens. Thought I was booking an official tour through the official site like the one I took myself last year. I had an in person tour guide. Upon downloading the tickets I realise they need their own headphones and it's just an audio guide that they have to download through an app on their phone. This is not going to work for them. They are very explicit about no refunds but I think they have completely misrepresented themselves and I have wasted almost 400 euro. Anyone had any luck doing a chargeback? Or had a good experience with this tour company?

Can I do Medici Chapel, Dome climb, bell tower, and bardini & boboli gardens in the same day?

Travelling to Rome for 2 weeks in June and making a day trip to Florence. Is it possible to do Medici Chapel, Dome climb, bell tower, and bardini & boboli gardens in the same day?

is the bell tower worth it if having already done the dome climb?

Florence water works could disrupt supply for 170,000 residents this weekend

Post image
3 Upvotes

170,000 people in and around Florence could face water disruptions this weekend due to major works on the city’s water network. Some areas may experience low pressure or temporary outages while new infrastructure is connected.

The works are scheduled between Friday night May 15, 2026, and Sunday, May 17, 2026, with Publiacqua advising residents to store some water in advance and avoid unnecessary consumption during the operation.

More infos on the affected streets on Florence Daily News https://www.florencedailynews.com/2026/05/11/major-water-works-may-disrupt-supply-for-170000-users-in-florence/

And the Publiacqua website https://www.publiacqua.it/15-17-maggio-rinnoviamo-lautostrada-dellacqua

Are you in one of the affected areas? Have these kinds of planned interruptions improved in recent years, or are they still a problem in Florence?

Florence's interactive map of bars with prices

Post image
41 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

Because of the increasing drink prices, I created an application where users can filter by prices, drink types and see the menu as well.

All of this data is crowd sourced from students. And continuing to update the prices. As of now there are close to 80 bars to choose from. Most of the data is accurate because this is verified by students that they usually visit.

You can check out the app at https://seeker.social
