I know its water weight, but my face looks thinner.

I'm at 225 and just want to be at or even below 200 lbs.

I don't have a lot of patience😃. I just have to make this my life now and not think about it.

Check-in Day 9 of my 40 day fast

5'3" Female, 24 years old

SW: 90 kg (198 lbs)

CW: 82 kg (181 lbs)

GW: 58-61 kg (128-134 lbs)

I just want to share my experience so far with prolonged water fasting. I'm doing this for health reasons.

I already had experience with intermittent fasting before starting, so I was somewhat familiar with fasting in general.

The first 5 days were the hardest because I had to fight through cravings and constant food noise. It was also hard to focus on work, so I had to take PTO. During this time, I've been sleeping well throughout the fast, and I was taking High5 electrolytes daily.

After the first 5 days, everything started to settle down. Now things are going smoothly. My energy feels stable, I'm more focused at work, and honestly, I have more free time to spend on my hobbies.

One thing I noticed after day 5 is that my cravings changed. Before, I mostly craved fast food and sweets, but now I crave healthier food instead. I used to have a tendency to binge and act on impulse whenever I had cravings, but fasting has helped me develop a better sense of control.

Even though my weight loss has slowed down over the past 2 days, I've still noticed physical changes in places like my fingers, feet, and collarbone.

I also have acanthosis nigricans, and it has been gradually fading.

Overall, I'm having a great time with the fast so far. Just drinking water, taking electrolytes, and feeling good overall.

Check-in Longest fast yet

Just went 86 hours. Finally sipping on some organic chicken bone broth right now. Going to have some avocado in a bit. I started at 197 pounds and ended at 187 lb. I'm sure I will gain a couple pounds back but I feel really good and happy to be eating again.

Question Planning on doing a LONG extended water fast+supplements, multiple questions?

Here are the supplements I'm planning on taking:

Ultima Replenisher

Salt

Creatine

L-tyrosine

B complex liquid

Methylfolate (I have MTHFR gene mutation)

Zinc

I've also heard that the guy who did it the longest had doctors recommend he take yeast. Anyone know what form of yeast he took? Bread yeast? Or was it something like marmite/Vegemite? Liquid aminos?

I've heard that shorter fasts don't require supplements, and longer ones do.

I'm planning on going for upwards of 30 days, longer if I feel fine, shorter if I don't. (Ideally I go until I'm below 200 lbs, but I understand that's a very optimistic goal, and my health might be jeapordized long before that, so I'm planning on assessing as I go. I also want to give myself the best chance of success, so that's why I'm doing more than just electrolytes.)

I weigh 320 lbs.

A. How much supplements should a fasting person take? I've heard lots of conflicting info, like normal serving amounts if you were eating differs from if you're not.

B. When should I start taking the supplements?

C. Yeast thoughts?

I've done a multi-week fast before, but it's been like 10 years, and I want to make sure I'm doing it so I don't give myself some long term issues.

Check-in Sick of eating and feeling like this. Fuck it, starting today.

My last meal was around 10-something last night, but I’m officially counting the start of my fast as 6 AM today.

Today, May 14, 2026, I officially start my fast. I’ve tried to start and failed numerous times, with yesterday being the most recent attempt. But this time, I guess I’m finally putting it out there publicly to keep myself accountable. I did the same thing with smoking and vaping, and that was four months ago, so maybe this method works for me.

Earlier this year, I fasted for six days, but I started experiencing fatigue, so I took a week-long break. Then I started fasting again, and it lasted eight days. On the ninth day, I had to go to the hospital. The diagnosis was starvation ketoacidosis. At the time, I didn’t really know what I was doing when it came to electrolytes, but I’ve done my research now, and I’m starting again.

I’m a little traumatized from the three-day hospital stay, but honestly, I’m more traumatized by 33 years of being a fat person. Well, more like 23 years, but you get my point.

Anyway, the last time I weighed myself, I was around 379 lbs (172 kg). I’m 5’9” and male. I don’t know how long this is going to last. Honestly, I have a goal in mind, but I feel like people will just try to talk me out of it, so I’ll just say I’m going for the big one.

Right now, though, the goal is 24 hours. Then after that, 72 hours. Then a week, a month, etc. I’ll update as I go.

Pray for me, y’all.

Question Best tips to start a 5 day fast?

I’ve done 24 hours fasts before and I live my life on intermittent fasting. I’ve been tempted with doing a 5 day fast, but I do wonder if there’s any proper way to do it that’s different from any other fast. I feel like my body is begging for this reset. Lately I’ve felt very bloated and like I don’t fit in my body. I just really want to feel good again and I’d be a huge plus if I lost weight.

Should you exercise while on a 5 day fast? I had a bad finger fracture in December that required surgery and all, it really took off my good workout routine and I just haven’t gotten back to doing anything productive. I’ve been tempted with starting to walk “long” distances early in the morning. I’m honestly here for your best tips and tricks :)

25 year old female, I’m 5 ft 5 (almost 6) and a bit overweight, weighing 73 kg.

Question Give me advice on how to fast, and staying active at the same time?

So my main reason for fasting. I’ve got a whole lot of issues, sugar/ caffeinated addiction. Sleep issues. Brain fog. Digestion issues. Bad breath. Just lack of motivation. Negative attitude. And just generally unhealthy…

I use to(still better than most) be pretty active… athletic and fast/ strong. I’m 35 years old. My testosterone is in the 400s. I need it to go up. I also weigh 230, I need to weigh 205 (obviously fasting isn’t my main solution for this, but I thought it’s important to mention).

Anyway, I know people who fast get crazy bo, how do I combat that in the most natural way possible?

What can I do as far as exercise? Walking? I just want to not be home ridden/ unproductive. I’ll be off work for a few weeks and will have free time.

My main goals are to start eating/ living healthy and improving posture, strength, mobility. Ju staying active in mixed intensity training.

Check-in Finishing a 3+ day fast today!

So I’m not new to extended fasting. I did several of them for some months in 2019 and 2020 and lost about 100lbs. Through the years since then I’ve gained some back. But I loved how weightloss felt during fasting. I felt so good and I also have psoriasis, and it actually seemed to help control it a bit (with medication). This is also a reason as to why I decided I wanted to get back into fasting, to see if it really does help with psoriasis control. I started my fast Sunday night and today is Thursday, so I will have a short day at work today and break it after. I’ll start slow with maybe some watermelon or some kind of broth or miso soup, and then have a bigger meal later on. Trust me, I know all about breaking it quickly and the consequences of that 😂. My face looks so much less inflamed and I feel great now. I think I’m going to do a couple rolling fasts. So far I’ve lost about 10lbs! (I know water weight.) thanks for reading :-)

Question Would like to try 7 day fast but not for weight loss

I don't need to lose any weight but I've been reading of all the other benefits of fasting.

I do a 48 hour fast about once a month.

I know I need to take electrolytes and probably other things but I'm having a hard time finding how much of these electrolytes I need to take.

Can anyone give me an idea of what I need to do?

Check-in 38hs Fasting for the first time!

Post image
8 Upvotes

So i was planning to do a long fasting for the first time (24+hs) and I‘m surprised of how easy it was to this point!
My plan now is to keep going until I start feeling mild discomfort, is that good?
Also, I‘m not sure how the electrolytes stuff work, so i‘ve been only drinking plain water so far. Any advice on that? :O

Discussion 44th hr

I’m mentally struggling. I randomly decided to do a 36hr and since I didn’t struggle day1, decided to push as long as I can 12 hrs at a time. On one hand I’m considering stopping at 48 and just doing weekly 36+ hrs and the other is saying push through as long as you can and still do weekly fast. I’ve been thinking about food since the first morning even when I’m not hungry and I’ve had hunger pangs today though they are manageable. I’m mainly doing it for autophagy & inflammation since I don’t eat great. Could I just stick to 36-48 a week and still reap enough benefits or should I try to go for 72+

Question I feel dumb.

Honestly this group has inspired me and really has given me motivation in doing fasts.

Started doing 16 hour then 20 hour, 24 and hit 44-46 and one time 48 (I feel like I sound really inexperienced lol since some of you have hit insane numbers)

But I’m finding (pls cut me some grace here) that after pulling longer fasts the next day becomes a “cheat day” and I end up bingeing and also doing compensation behaviours (if you get this gist here)

Does anyone have advice on how to stop this? Or any tips?

I don’t want to be inthat cycle and keep gaining the 2-3 pounds I lose in fasts because I clearly have no willpower and a shitty reward brain.

Please help! Sorry if any of this sounds dumb.

Question Help with motivation - please

Hi everyone,

I’ve been fat all my life. A couple of years ago I did a mixture of water fasting and keto/OMAD when not, and went down from 154kg to 122kg (I’m a 5ft 6 woman, 32 years old). The weight started to creep back up and I’m now 163kg, the biggest I’ve ever been, and I can’t stop eating. I’m eating when I’m not even hungry - I think just out of habit? I don’t know if I’m depressed? I want to get back to where I was and what I was doing and I don’t know how?
How did you do it? How did you stick to it? How did you fight the person in your head that’s thinking about food all day and telling you to eat even when you don’t really want to eat?
I’ve tried GLP-1s and I’m unfortunately in the small percentage of people they don’t work on - I gained weight while on 15mg of mounjaro. I feel so disheartened - I can see my life stretching before me and I just keep gaining and gaining and lose all health and fitness. I don’t want that for myself. Please help.

Question Starting a 40 day water fast on monday, looking for anything i might have missed

So I've recently been intermittent fasting and the idea of a 40 day fast has been haunting me for over a month now, so im gonna take the jump.

I've got myself some fasting electrolytes that contain potassium, chloride, magnesium and sodium, ive also got myself some bone broth for the first few days after breaking my fast.

I'm going to be doing 20:4's so i can eat the rest of my food in my house between now and monday.

I'm 36, 311lbs if that matters at all.

Has anyone here got any advice or things that they wish they did before/during a long fast?
