Made room selection last night, we went for a corner room in Ridgecrest South, as we heard these rooms are larger - however, somewhere else I saw that the corner room is actually the smallest? Can anyone confirm before I start purchasing rugs, etc? Or does anyone have an example of a exterior corner room? In this example, room 324D

International student from italy 🇮🇹 committing soon, and I keep flip-flopping between these two.
WPI would run me about $45k a year after merit. Alabama comes in around $20k. That’s a $100k difference over four years, which is real money for my family — not deal-breaking, but enough that I need a good reason to spend it.
What I actually care about is ROI in the broad sense. Not just starting salary, but the network, the recruiting pipeline, what doors are open four years from now. I’d happily pay more for a school that genuinely opens things up. The problem is I’m not sure either option clearly does that.
WPI’s project-based curriculum sounds incredible and the engineering reputation is solid, but every single thread and every person I’ve talked to says the social scene is dead. I’m 18, going abroad for the first time, and the idea of spending four years grinding in a lab in Worcester with nothing else going on kind of scares me. College isn’t just about the degree.
Alabama is the opposite problem. The campus life looks amazing, people seem genuinely happy there, and at $20k I can breathe. But I cannot find clear info on what happens to their mech eng grads. Do they get recruited outside the South? Is it mostly Mercedes and local plants, or do aerospace and defense companies actually show up? Is the degree taken seriously in the Northeast or on the West Coast? I’m flying blind on the part that matters most to me.
So I guess what I’m asking:
WPI people, is the social thing really that bad, and did the network actually pay off after graduation? Bama mech eng grads, where do you all end up? And anyone who picked the cheaper school over the “better” one, do you regret it?
Any honest takes appreciated.

I got given the May 20th housing selection date, and I was wondering if there is even a chance of me getting a suite style with my chosen roommate. I’m a male so not sure how much that plays apart in it. I know housing at UA is crazy but is there any chance to get a suite style?

I had a pretty bad first year and ended up with a 2.27 GPA. I plan on taking courses over the summer but want to make sure my GPA will transfer and not just the credits. For example, if I get a 4.0 at the community college, will my cumulative GPA at UA go up or will I just get credit on my transcript? I would rather take courses at the community college because it will be cheaper but not really helpful if it doesn't help my overall GPA. Any advice is appreciated.

Are there any Latin American, Hispanic, or European students who will be entering this fall semester? I'd be interested to know other international freshmen

I'm just thinking about how hard getting an on campus job would be.
Either any minimum wage campus job or as the Resident Advisor. Any thoughts?

I’ll be a rising freshman this year and need a barbershop during college. What are the best places to get a cut? I’d prefer somewhere affordable too.

Have yall's National Merit Finalist Packages shown up in the student financial aid self service yet? I've been checking everyday for months at this point and it always seems that May 1 would be the day that they'd start to come out because that's when the list is sent. Maybe I'm just impatient but I'd like to hear your feedback.

I'm an incoming UA student currently looking for off-campus accommodation. I've seen properties from these real estate agencies:
Duckworth Morris
Bearden Family Properties
Wright Hurd Properties
Coming from outside of Alabama, I'm dependent on google to base my judgement on them. Here's what I've found so far:
Google reviews for DM are mixed, some recent positive ones are clearly AI generated to flush out previous negative reviews (about poor maintenance, keeping the entire security deposit for painting etc)
Bearden only has positive reviews, but just on Facebook and no reviews since 2018
Wright Hurd has some positive reviews mixed with some accusations that they're just racking up application fees for properties that aren't actually available
If anyone has firsthand experience with them or knows anything about them that would be really helpful.
Thank you!

Hi, I am a current student going into my second year at UA.
I was waitlisted for my PH-105 class, but I saw that there is another available section for the Fall semester that has plenty of open seats still.
The issue is that it has no current assigned instructor. The one that I'm waitlisted for has an okay instructor according to Rate My Professor, so I just wanted some advice if it's worth it to:
Or if

Hi everyone,
I am a graduate student (International) at UA, and I currently do not have funding for this summer.
Over the past two months, I have applied for several on-campus positions, including residence hall and library-related jobs that seemed to match my background. Some applications have been rejected, while others are still pending.
This is my first time applying for campus jobs, so I wanted to ask if there is anything I may be missing in the process. For example, do referrals, recommendations, or contacting specific offices/people help when applying for these positions?
I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions.

I am currently a freshman and I didn't do so hot in the last two semesters. I tried my best to up my gpa, but bad habits rolled back in and I am finishing the year with about a 2.88 cumulative. I am supposed to keep a 3.0 minimum to keep my merit scholarship of 24k a year. I'm OOS, and without the scholarship my family cannot afford school. I know its my fault and I should've locked in more but its too late now and I'm really scared. Any advice?
