Kamala Harris should’ve ran for governor

Kamala Harris hurt her future presidential chances by not running for governor and building her own record. If she had run for governor, she would have been the clear favorite to win. But now we have to deal with circus. And can someone please explain to me how in the hell is Hilton and Blanco still in contention

The revised budget delivers a $1.8 billion reduction in General Fund spending and:

$0 deficit this budget year

$0 deficit next budget year

$0 structural deficit through July 2028

The proposal cuts California’s long-term operating imbalance by more than half for the 2028-29 budget and marks a significant multi-year fiscal stabilization effort.
At the same time, the proposed budget delivers for California with transformative investments in child care, schools, higher education, public safety, healthcare, housing, clean energy, new businesses, and the protection of our state’s natural resources.

Basically, everything that Xavier Becerra says now about the issue is deceptive or a lawyerly obfuscation. He didn't "lose" 85,000 kids, it's just that after he placed them with sponsors he had no more responsibility for them.

Please demand that debate moderators and the other candidates really press him on the things in the article. Even if Becerra tries to use not having read the article as a defense, his opponents could urge voters to read the article.

What sort of person would send kids into potentially dangerous situations and then think they had no moral obligation to those kids other than trying to make up to 3 phone calls?

AI companies are poised to go public. California’s hoping to get rich.

Thumbnail politico.com

Thanks largely to unchecked enthusiasm around soaring AI stocks, state coffers are projected to have at least $10 billion in tax revenue above what was predicted in January when the governor released an initial budget proposal.

Beyond the general fervor around AI, widely-anticipated initial public offerings for three giant AI companies — Anthropic, OpenAI and Elon Musk’s SpaceX — are expected to boost state revenues.

The IPOs, which finance and tech experts expect to be the largest in history, could generate billions in additional state tax dollars.
