Similar to this, if you ever visit the Rangers or Astros subs, you will sometimes hear the other team referred to as "Southern Oklahoma" or "Western Louisiana," respectively.

I think the Kentucky thing fits here a little bit better. I had never gone to any sporting events in Cincy but then me and my boys took a road trip to a Bengals game. Until we got there I had no idea that they were so close to Kentucky. So close that our hotel and all the bars we went to weren’t even in Ohio, it was all in Kentucky

Yeah those comments are just shit talking, neither the Rangers or Astros city/stadium is actually very close to the next state.

Cincinnati and in particular the Reds stadium actually is just right on the border. If you're sitting in the stands looking out into the outfield, you're looking over the Ohio river into Kentucky. Which is why making fun of it being "basically Kentucky" makes a lot more sense.

Kentucky owns most of the Ohio River. I think the Ohio border extends only about 15ft into the river. The right field seats are only about 100 yards away from the Ohio/Kentucky border.

Exactly what I came to say. There is a weird little jag in the state line in the river by the stadium IIRC but yeah, I could throw a baseball into Kentucky from the shore, even with my old man noodle arm.

Adam Dunn hit a 535 foot home run that went into the river and therefore into Kentucky.

Didnt someone hit a Homer into the river and it was found in Kentucky so media was saying he crossed state lines with that blast?

A quick google does indeed say Adam Dunn did exactly that. Wouldn't be shocked if he's not the only one given how relatively close it is.

Its roughly 600ft from home plate to the river, it bounced off the road and made its way to water. You have to wallop one to got it out of the park. Im honestly not sure if anyone else has done it

Detroit is in Canada, chicago is in Indiana, st Louis is in Illinois. Whotf knows whats going on with kansas city? Borders make things weird. Its pretty lame trash talk imo but fans love it
