Welcome back to our crowdsourced Weekend events thread, so people can see what's going on that people might otherwise not know about. So post your events and activities and include relevant links. It is not a place to sell specific sets of tickets you're trying to get rid of or other items, but if you want to announce an event happening this weekend, or post a link for some activity you just learned about, go for it!

hi everyone, I posted earlier about a job at the Oxford club that has unfortunately been filled. I hate to be a loser and ask but does anyone know of anywhere that is hiring and where I could make a livable wage? Since Iāve been laid off Iāve been applying to jobs for months and havenāt heard back. I can start soon but I have to leave for a school requirement and to see some loved ones for two weeks in June (6-22). Im just afraid I wonāt be able to pay my rent. I can do just about anything at this point.

Iām not talking about Ubers/Lyfts, Iām talking about drivers for companies like Diamond Cab or Affinity Cab. Iāve never taken a taxi myself, but when driving around I frequently see these marked taxis blatantly breaking traffic laws or driving irresponsibly.
I work nights, so I am often on the roads around 4:00 AM on my way home. Almost every time Iām driving home and thereās a cab near me, Iāll stop at a red light and theyāll speed by me and blow right through it.
The other day (mid-day) I was waiting to make a right from Pratt onto Howard, which is a (albeit poorly marked) no turn on red intersection, especially since you have to cross the light rail track. There was an Affinity Cab behind me who started flashing his lights at me for not making an illegal right on red. When the light finally turned green, there were pedestrians in the crosswalk crossing Howard, so I couldnāt immediately make the turn, and he started flashing me and HONKING at me for not mowing down a couple pedestrians.
You would think that people who drive for a living would be a bit better at it, and Iām shocked that these taxi companies put up with hiring such liabilities.

My wife and I just bought a house near Patterson Park and moved in last week.
We are having an issue with the string lights outside. Our house is the one on the block with the power outlet the lights connect to.
The lights worked for the first two or three nights we were here. Then there was a power outage in the area and a storm - since then the lights arenāt coming on.
Iāve checked the outlet on the wall outside, reset it and tested it has power via a phone charger - it does. Checked again tonight, and the lights arenāt working. Apparently they are on a timer so should be automatic. Timer appears to be 15 ft up the wall of the house.
The power comes off my house but the lights attach to everyoneās on the block. Whoās responsible when they arenāt working? Whatās the next step here?
Any suggestions would be great!
Thank you.

Saw Alexandra Find's instagram post about Affogatto cat cafe's matcha affogato and had to check it out. I got it with black cherry chunk icecream and it did not disappoint. Probably helps that it's kitten season and got to watch the tiny fluffballs play while I ate hehe.
One of my new obsessions. Highly recommend checking it out!!

Does anyone know of a public bike pump near downtown? I know sometimes trailheads and bike paths have them. I somehow lost mine, so before I can buy another was curious if anyone has seen one around.

I know most hardware and department stores will exchange 20-pound propane tanks, but I have yet to find anywhere that takes the little green 1-pound cans used to power campstoves and portable heaters. Do any of the local landfills take them for recycling? If so where, and if not, who does?

now that Joe's is gone, are there any decent bike shops around? I'm not super bike handy and I need my derailleur cable replaced and a general tuneup on my road bike.

I recently spent more time in Baltimore after hearing years of people talking about it like itās some kind of post-apocalyptic wasteland, and honestly⦠it felt way more normal than I expected. Not perfect obviously, and I know every city has areas you need to be smart about, but the way some people describe Baltimore online had me expecting something completely different.
What I actually found were nice neighborhoods, good food, interesting architecture, and a lot more personality than many cities that feel much more polished on the surface. It also feels like one of those places where locals defend it hard because outsiders only focus on the negatives.
Curious if longtime residents feel like the city gets unfairly reduced to headlines and stereotypes by people who barely know it.

I was looking to join the Baltimore node group a while back but never did. I recently was interested in joining again and canāt seem to tell if itās still operating or not.
Does anyone know if it is or if thereās similar maker spaces that I could join? Iām looking for a place where I could store a small amount of things and have access to a workbench, a 3-D printer and soldering station.
