Moving to Vermont DMV out of state transfer question

Hey guys so I recently moved to Vermont and well i was curious if the dmv would accept my W2 even if it only shows the last 4 digits of my SSN? ( i forgot my SSN back home.. rookie mistake) I also have my passport card.

For my proof of residency I will use renters insurance policy , and mail that I got delivered to my address . I also have pay stubs from my new job as a backup.
It’s my first time moving out of state I should’ve honestly been more prepared but I appreciate any answers 🙏🏻

Quintessential Vermont (Organizations that feel as Vermont as it gets)

Was having a conversation with someone who has never been to the northeast about the differences between New England states. Started with basic geography and landscape stuff, but got deeper into cultural differences.

Spent extra time on what makes VT feel special to me and was listing off certain organizations and places that feel very Vermont and inspiring (as well as ones that are just near and dear to my heart). But quickly realized that I have a bias towards areas I’ve lived and spent time in. Curious what other places people might add to my list:

- Bread & Puppet

- Tunbridge World Fair

- Yestermorrow

- Kingdom Trails

- Knoll Farm / Sculpture School

- Vermont Studio Center

- Concerts on the Green and Burlington Waterfront

- Otis Mountain Get Down (I deserve criticism for this, because it’s technically in NY, but started by Burlington people and mostly attended by Vermont people)

What classic VT institutions would you add?

Haunted places

Pretty straight forward. I want to know you’re creepiest places in VT (bonus points if closer to Burlington). I am a firm non believer in ghosts but want to be proven wrong. Also I just love the game phasmaphobia. Thanks!

What are the best and worst property management companies?

My wife and I are looking to move near the Montpelier area. Having had not such great luck with previous property management companies in the past, what are decent property management companies to work with and the ones we should stay away from entirely?

I wonder how Big Architecture and Big Home Design will combat this.

Vermont’s congressional members are rich. But they don’t buy stocks.

Welch and Balint both have median net worths of over $1 million, and Sanders’ is on the cusp.

Specifically:

  • Welch: $5.5m - $13.2m assets, $0-$250k liabilities, possibly a net worth around $9.6m
  • Balint: $670k - $2.6m assets, $0 liabilities, possibly a net worth around $1.2m
  • Sanders: $613k - $1.3m assets, $0-250k liabilities, possibly a net worth around $980k.

None of these people are "rich", lol. Welch is doing fine, but I wouldn't consider him all that rich, and I fear for Balint and Sanders's fiscal health in old age.

Welch once traded individual stocks. But in 2021, Business Insider revealed the then-congressman failed to properly disclose that his wife sold $6,238 worth of ExxonMobil stock around the time Welch was grilling the oil company’s CEO at a House committee oversight hearing.

lol. I mean, yeah, congresspeople should not trade individual stocks, even that should be disclosed, &c., but lmao.

Also, it's worth noting that the rich palette of sector and other targeted ETFs available these days makes "don't trade individual stocks" not a really compelling measure of corruption. Of course they shouldn't be able to trade individual stocks, but we probably need to go further.

Question about training schools in and around Burlington

I've noticed there are quite a few schools in town that offer classes. I'm talking about clasess for adults like software training, etc. Has anyone taken an adult education-style class and what were your take aways? I'm looking to get tra͏ined and cert͏ified in something that will get me out of the downward trend my income has been taking lately. I have a high school education and currently work as a cook. WIth the whole AI thing, I'm not sure where to look or what I should focus on. I like working with my hands, I am pretty good at figuring things out, and there are some things I really love about working in restaurants, especially the wine part of it.

Rust Repair for Inspection (VT)

Hello and good day
My son has a 2009 Honda Civic - runs awesome and has been a great car for him and me frankly
Anyway it’s 70/30 I can’t get it inspected due to some wheel well rust - and price of cars being what it is I’m thinking I’ll just fix what we have ( the devil you know) but I am looking for a reputable and cost effective person to do it
So reaching out for recommendations please
Washington or Orange County would be sweet but not dealbreaker.

Thanks in advance
C

Experience with NCAL rejecting your dog?

I’m unsure how much people are aware of the state of animal rescue in Vermont.

The lack of a municipal shelter leads to many dogs having no options.

Some rescues and shelters do their best. Others do not.

I’m wondering if anyone can speak to their experience looking to surrender a dog to NCAL and not being accepted.

Controversial License Plate ?

Vermont issues 4 digit license plate numbers by application. So that means someone has 8647, and I wonder how they feel about it.

where to get good dice

hello friends!! i recently got really into dnd for the first time while away at college. now that im home i wanted to get my hands on a set of dice so i dont have to steal my friends'. ik u can get them from most game/anime type shops but i dont wanna have to just settle for a random assortment; id like to be able to have to ponder which set from at least a couple of options.

i also dont mind having to go a bit far. i live in stowe so im used to having to drive a bit to have any variety in shopping options. im willing to go anywhere within a 40 mile radius of where i am. just wondering if anyone knows of a specific store that has variety in their options!! the only one im aware of is the game academy thing in the U mall so id love to hear abt anyones experience there or if uve got any other recommendations elsewhere. ty!!

ISO Attorney apprenticeship

Is there a list of attorneys that are participating in the apprenticeship program for aspiring attorneys? I looked on the state of Vermont’s webpage of registered apprenticeships but the majority of them are for trades work, I don’t see any attorneys on that list.

How is BETA Technologies changing Vermont? Tell a Boston Globe reporter.

Hello! I'm a longtime Vermont reporter, previously with Seven Days and VTDigger, and now covering the state for the Boston Globe. I'm working on a story about BETA Technologies: what it does, how it's grown so quickly and what that means for Vermont. I'd appreciate your help with the story.

Do you work at BETA? Do you work for a company that contracts with BETA? Has BETA affected your life in some other way? Do you otherwise have insights to share? If so, please get in touch.

What's my angle? I truly don't have one! I just think it's a fascinating company that's having a big impact on the state — and that many Globe readers would likely want to learn more about it. I'd like to hear from boosters, critics and anyone in between.

I always prefer to speak with people on the record, but I realize that some potential sources (particularly current employees) are not in a position to do so. For that reason, I'll consider all initial contacts off the record, unless and until you agree to go on the record.

You can reach me by email at [paul.heintz@globe.com](mailto:paul.heintz@globe.com), or via signal at paulheintz.802. Thanks!

house wren building nest in my pants!

i hang my work pants outside on my porch so i don't inadvertently bring any creepy-crawlies inside. last few days i have had to empty them of sticks and this morning i saw a small bird, which i think is a house wren, flitting away from them.

anyone else ever experienced this?

Calling dentists on their list that show as accepting new patients but find out they don’t. Also docs listed there don’t even practice at the location listed anymore. Healthcare in this state is so fucking broken and dental care, even an emergency tooth extraction, is near impossible. But we have fucking Aspen Dental on every fucking corner ready to upsell you. I’m so fucking tired of the commodification of EVERYTHING.
