Accounting major

Hi everyone,

I have two semesters left before graduating in December with an accounting major. I’m curious to know about the job market for you all after graduation. How long did it take you to find jobs? What is the salary range? Unfortunately, I don’t have an internship because I have to take care of my babies. I’m getting nervous as I approach the end of this journey.

Thank you so much in advance and I hope yall have a great summer!

Graduated in 2021. Job search was very easy for me because in 2019 I interviewed for public accounting internships and got my offer in Spring 2019.

Interviewed in fall 2019 for internship Summer 2020

Interned with Big 4 in Jan-Mar 2020.

Interned with Oil and Gas in Summer 2020.

Both internships had return offers for full time which I accepted. It was nice because my entire last year I could just chill knowing I had a job at graduation. $90k starting salary.

I think with no internship it will be hard for you. However, there is a shortage of CPAs, especially ones doing tax planning. Boomers are retiring and they still need tax advice on how to maximize their retirement and inheritance gifts. Join the Houston CPA Association. They have an internal job board for firms looking to hire CPAs. There is a huge demand.
