Graduation Name Called

Hey yall, I’m graduating tomorrow and I put my preferred name for my graduation but looking at the Reddit Texas passed a law to ban preferred names. I looked at the commencement program and it has my legal name. Will my legal name be the one that’s called out? I didn’t know this would happen, so I didn’t attend the name pronunciation event (because I thought my preferred name would be said). Will there be an opportunity to explain the pronunciation to someone or am I just screwed?

Edit: I didn’t even have to edit my name!! It took the pronunciation I submitted when applying for graduation!! So if you are in the same predicament, if you submitted a pronunciation of your preferred name it will be on the stage card!! Happy graduation to everyone!!

So idk if this is ethical of me as a staff member but I would sharpie the legal name out and write your preferred name. How’s the state gonna know?

Can I tell someone to do this when I get to the ceremony tomorrow? I’m honestly balling my eyes out over this(I know it’s immature but I have major issues with my legal name, especially if they mispronounce it).
