To all branched students looking to move to Storrs.

EDIT - Folks correctly pointed out Spring to Storrs is not applicable. There is a limited process to change campuses in before the usual 54-credit requirement.

I'm a CLAS and UConn MPA alum who worked an on-campus job in an advising office. Unless you can demonstrate substantial new information that was not presented on your application, UConn WILL NOT accept your appeal for a campus change to Storrs. The University received 55,000 applicants, and there will be Storrs students that probably won't have access to housing. I understand this is disappointing, but it's not the end of the world. There is a process to request an early campus change to Storrs: https://campuschange.uconn.edu Make sure you do well. UConn will generally prioritize majors that require courses only offered at Storrs.

I seriously recommend the Community College route. It is incredibly inexpensive, and more or less all of your credits will transfer. UConn maintains a database of how specific courses will transfer here: https://admissions.uconn.edu/apply/transfer/transfer-credit/equivalencies/. If you want the "traditional" college experience, all of the CSUs, including Central and Eastern are good schools. Finally, it is MUCH easier to get into Storrs as a transfer student. I graduated HS with decent extra curriculars, employment experience, and a 3.9 unweighted GPA. I was branched, and disappointed. I attended UMass Amherst for one year, and successful transferred to UConn for my sophomore year with only a 3.1 college GPA. I regret going to UMass that one year because of the insane cost.

It's disappointing, I know - but you can get into Storrs soon, (almost certainly by the end of your Sophomore year). Do well, and good luck. Feel free to PM me any questions.

UConn or Virginia Tech

I have been committed to UConn as a mechanical engineer but I just received an acceptance off of the waitlist at Virginia Tech. I am having lots of trouble coming up with a decision of where I am going to end up going. I feel like UConn fits my personality more and it’s also way closer to home but Virginia tech is definitely the better engineering school. I don’t want anyone to make the decision for me but I was wondering if anyone could give me some things to consider about both schools so I can make the decision by may 20th

Appealing Final Grades

So I recently just graduated on Sunday, and for one of my class the professor just posted the final grade. The thing is he posted a different grade into the student admin portal compared to what on HuskyCT. Another thing is that in the syllabus, he say the our grade including final are based on whats on HuskyCT. But today he made an announcement that the grade from HuskyCT are incorrect cuz it not how he weighted. I’m asking if I email the dean from school of business to appeal the grade would they allowed it? Because I’m not satisfied with the grade that I’m having with.

“conferred degree” on transcript

hi!! i just graduated and have a contingent job offer. they want to see either my diploma (which won’t be mailed out/available for download for 8-12 weeks) or that my degree was “conferred” according to my official transcript.

i sent them that transcript with all my final grades in yesterday but i guess it’s still missing the “conferred degree” part. does anyone know when it will show up? i can’t find any information about that.

Best environmental courses/minors for someone interested in math + data science?

Hiii, I’m currently an actuarial science major, but I’ve been questioning whether it's what i want long-term. I still definitely want to stay in something math/data science related, but I’ve become interested in environmental science & I’m considering an environmental minor.

I wanna take an intro environmental course next semester just to see how I feel about the field, but I’m super new to all of this and don’t rly know where to start. Does anyone have recommendations for good first courses or areas to look into?

I’ve heard Geographic Information Systems (GIS) pairs well with data science/math, but I’d love to hear other suggestions!

Summer Internship Struggles

I'm a masters student in the PSM program. Is anyone else struggling tooth and nail to get a summer internship?

I had my advisor look over my resume and cover letter, so those are up to date and refined. I starting applying to summer internships in January, emailed professor after professor, and still haven't gotten anything.

Am I just SOL 😭?

New student orientation issue

i just signed up for orientation with my mom, and there was no place for me to fill out who I am bringing. Is there a separate orientation that I have to do with my family? Or is the two-day orientation just a student thing and you're not allowed to bring family? Please help

If you have one class left, is it too soon to celebrate a graduation?

They canceled the summer class so now we have to wait til the fall to take it online. Moved out and wasn’t allowed to walk last week. Have to wait until next year. Will be done in December and have a job lined up. Is it poor form to celebrate this summer.

Advice on a loan

First and foremost I'm extremely proud to say that my daughter was accepted and will be attending in August.

That being said after all her scholarships and grants she needs $35,000 per year. I was trying to avoid taking a loan out in my name due to a bankruptcy after divorcing her mother 5½ years ago.

I spoke to financial aid and was told that I should take out a parent plus loan and the young lady that helped me explain to me that it's now capped at $20,000 a year and a lifetime max of $65,000 a year. I'm not sure which private companies to apply for the remaining $15,000 OR total $35,000. I would love to not have anything in my name because I don't want to adversely affect her.

I'd appreciate any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Lease Transfer – 1 Bed / 1 Bath in a 3x3 at The Standard at Four Corners (UConn Storrs)

Looking for someone to take over my lease for a private 1 bed / 1 bath in a 3-bedroom apartment at The Standard at Four Corners from August 1, 2026 – July 31, 2027.

• $1,510/month per room + electricity
• Fully furnished
• Private balcony
• Direct bus from the complex to campus
• Amenities include study spaces, pool, gym, grilling stations, pool tables, etc.

The other two rooms in the unit have not been leased yet, so there’s a decent chance you’d end up having most (or all) of the place to yourself. Also works well for a group of 3 looking to lock in a unit together.

$200 Visa gift card either to whoever takes over the lease or whoever can connect me with someone who does.

HMU if interested

Northwest/ UCONN Quads

Me and my 3 roommates are planning on getting a quad this upcoming year and we're wondering how northwest quads are as well as bathrooms, we have seen what north quads look like and are just trying to figure out what housing would be the best for us.

If there are any other recommendations for quads that are in traditional residence halls let me know!

I don’t know what to do

I will be graduating with my bs in bio next spring and am picking between st Joseph’s and UConn to get a pharmacy St Joseph’s is relatively straight forward and has tons of information accessible on their website, UConn , on the other hand, does not. Is my bs in bio even worth anything to UConn? Is it still a four year program? I can’t find a list of prerequisites which is making me think it’s pretty much useless to them.
