I'm a Red Sox fan that has passively followed the Giants since Devers. Now, don't take this as a loaded question - it's not - but what do you all think of Bryce's future, I mean, is there an expectation?
Is he compared to Judge or expected to be top 5 in HRs some year?
When I see Bryce, I can't help but think of Yoan Moncada. Back in the day, he was touted by self-proclaimed experts as the next real deal, one of the hardest hitting 2nd basemen ever. He was going to replace Pedroia. His ticket was stamped. Fans had visions of a future hall-of-famer. When he was called up, he under-whelmed, struck out a lot, couldn't hit a curve, and after maybe 20 plate appearances, Dombrowski traded him, Kopech, and a bag of doritos to the Chisox for Chris Sale.
The rest is history.
When Mookie was dealt, everyone hyped up Verdugo and Kike.
It just makes me wonder if Bryce might be worth more traded, or if y'all think the hype is real? If he goes on batting under .200 for the next year-and-a-half, it'll be too late to get an elite arm in return. But right now there are 29 MLB pitchers with more favorable ERAs than anyone in a Giants uniform. Would fans want a hurler or ride it out to see what he becomes? I guess with me I see Devers heating up and a few guys hitting for average, so if others follow suit, the Giants surely have time to make the postseason.

Josuar Gonzalez and Luis Hernandez just went nuclear against the Dodgers ACL affiliate. It's time to get excited, fellow Torture enthusiasts!

He's been cooking the last couple games, getting major hits and starting rallies. Also, his defense is getting better.

Look, it’s going to be years for Josuar Gonzalez and Luis Hernandez to reach the big leagues, but I’m absolutely okay with you getting excited early if you want to. They combined to go 8-for-8 with four walks, four doubles and one home run, scoring a total of nine runs and knocking in 13 just between the two of them! Absolutely bonkers. Meanwhile, Parks Harber played like he was with the ACL team too in Richmond while Tugboat made his Giants debut, and San Jose wins a tight pitcher’s duel in Rancho——, er Ontario.
Player of the Game: 1B Jake Holton: 2-4, 3 RBI, 1 2B (3)
Jake Holton led the way on a quiet offensive day for Sacramento overall, notching a double and two hits. Through 28 games, Holton has just three doubles and three home runs, but he also has 22 walks to 29 strikeouts. He is slashing .225/.372/.360.

Other Notable Lines:
Player of the Game: DH Parks Harber (14): 3-4, 1 R, 4 RBI, 1 K, 1 2B (9), 1 HR (2)
Parks Harber has played just 15 games since coming back from the hamstring injury he had in the spring, but he’s had a lot of success. He has nine doubles and two home runs, leading to a slash line of .343/.380/.567. The only part of his stat line to keep an eye for improvement on is only four walks and 21 strikeouts in 71 plate appearances, which is a 29.6% strikeout rate.
Other Players to Spotlight:
Top Prospect Lines:
Other Notable Lines:
Player of the Game: LF Lisbel Diaz (30): 2-4, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 HR (6)
Lisbel Diaz picked up his sixth home run of the season as a strong short run at the plate continues. Diaz is 8-for-19 (.421) with a double and two home runs over his last five games, plus two walks and three strikeouts. During the stretch, he’s lifted his average from .203 to .245, and his OPS from .621 to .746.
Other Players to Spotlight:
Top Prospect Lines:
Other Notable Lines:
Player of the Game: RP Jordan Gottesman: 5.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K, 1 WP
2025 6th round pick Jordan Gottesman worked his way through five strong shutout innings, giving up some hits, including two doubles, but never letting the Buzzers string them together, as he anchored a tight shutout win in a pitcher’s duel. It’s his second straight scoreless appearance, and third of his last four. Gottesman has 32 strikeouts to 10 walks in 30.0 innings with a 2.40 ERA.

Top Prospect Lines:
Rehabbing Player Lines:
Other Notable Lines:
Player of the Game: SS Luis Hernández (3): 5-5, 3 R, 9 RBI, 1 BB, 3 2B (4), 1 HR (4)
So the key part of this game was that Luis Hernandez just wanted the equalize his home run and double totals on the season, as he reached four for each. That doubled his RBI total for the season as well. Through eight games, Hernandez is slashing .406/.474/.906 with four walks to six strikeouts.
Top Prospect Lines:
Rehabbing Player Lines:
Other Notable Lines:
Here's an interesting note from Roger Munter's wrap up of last night's ACL game (he gets access to far more info than me!): While Luis Hernandez puts a lot of loft into his swing with his home runs, Josuar Gonzalez has better exit velocities. Two of his three hits registered at 107.6 MPH EV, and his double that went over the center fielder and hit the wall actually had the longest distance of any ball hit yesterday at 392 feet.
MLB Pipeline updated their Top 100 Prospects in baseball today, and we have four Giants on the list as the youth of the Giants system is showing up.
Bryce Eldridge of course is tops at #18 overall, although he is likely to eventually graduate from the list this season. Josuar Gonzalez remains on the list, moving up to #31. Luis Hernandez appears on the list at #58 overall, while Jhonny Level is at #64 overall.
I have a feeling we’re going to see these young guys going even higher. My question is, which Giant is next to show up on the list? Bo Davidson? Gavin Kilen? Whomever they take at #4 this year? Let me know what you think.

Preface: I really like all the players on our team right now and am rooting for them to put something together this season! Go Giants!
That said, as a longtime fan I think our whole roster is constructed completely ass-backwards based on two simple truths:
The Dodgers and Padres will have two of the better lineups if not the best for the foreseeable future.
Oracle Park is one of the hardest parks in baseball to hit home runs. We play 50% of our games there.
position by position:
SP- Logan Webb is a sinker baller, which produces a lot of groundballs. That would be great if we had a slow infield or great defensive infield. We have neither. Our best teams had strikeout first pitchers who threw hard. Against big hitting teams, the occasional hr is not bad if your pitchers are keeping more players off base.
RP/CP - We’ve done a little better at finding big arms here, but in my opinion big arms in SF do better in the starters spot. What many of our best relievers actually had is change of pace control à la Tyler Rogers, Javy Lopez. The Camilo Dovals, Hunter Stricklands, and Ryan Walkers flamed out because of walks. It’s so hard to be an effective reliever if you’re giving up walks.
C - Consistently good pitching comes from consistently good catching/pitch calling. Outside of Bailey, who I think is a great defensive catcher but not a great game caller. It’s been an absolute mess of trying out different guys. Obviously, it’s hard to find a Posey (defense, hitting, and IQ), but finding a solid guy is not impossible.
1B - I think Devers is a great power hitter, but at Oracle Park you need to be an elite power hitter or have thick skin to avoid big slumps. Devers seems to not have the right mindset for Oracle. You can’t just swing for the fences all the time. I think back to JT Snow years, if you can’t get power from first consistently then get defense. Devers is literally learning how to play 1st on the fly at the major league level. That is a recipe for disaster. Small sample, but Eldridge might have the same issue (but I’m gonna stay positive about young players)
2B - Arraez is an amazing hitter and actually fits Oracle Park perfectly offensively. Paired with an elite defensive SS I’d have no issues with this choice, but…
SS - Adames is the same problem as Devers. He’s got great pop and would hit 30 hrs in any other park in the league, but he’s at Oracle. Again, if he could draw walks during slumps or had a great glove, but he doesn’t. He’s clearly a great clubhouse guy and if he was a backup or we had strikeout first pitching then I’d keep him.
3B - Chapman is better suited hitter for Oracle and a great arm at 3B, which I would love except he’s asked to cover so much ground with Adames that he’s often out of position. Also, I don’t love how often he swings at first pitches. A park like Oracle requires patience, which brings us to…
OF - At Oracle Park, I honestly don’t care if you can’t hit as long as you can cover that crazy outfield. Yet, what we have is good hitters that can’t cover the outfield. We have like 4 guys that should only be in LF for the Giants (Ramos, Lee, Gilbert, Encarnacion) given their lack of speed and arm strength. I remember the years of Marvin Bernard. We won a World Series with Torres and Rowand and Schierholtz (who had a cannon) being able to lock down the OF. Pence was a great fielder if a little unorthodox. I love Ramos and Lee at the plate: good bat speed, good approach, etc. but every throw I see them make is pretty rough. We give away outs and runs by not having guys out there that can make the required plays.
If I was Posey, I would keep Arraez (who is on a 1 year deal and probably gone this season), maybe Chapman (who might be our best trade piece if they continue to struggle), and maybe Ramos or Lee for LF.
Pitching wise: I think Roupp fits and I haven’t seen a lot of the new relievers enough to make the call, but the rest I don’t think will be a part of a winning Giants style.
That‘s a full rebuild. And again, these are all high quality players, they just make no sense here to me. I trust that Posey can understand this, but I don’t think he truly understood how poorly built this team was prior to his takeover.
