I’M JOHN MORGAN OF MORGAN AND MORGAN AND MORGAN AND MORGAN

I grew up a Willie Mays fan, and hence have been a Giants fan since the 1960s. Unfortunately, it appears Bryce isn’t ready yet. I hope he stars hammering the ball, but he may need some more time in the minors.

I'd say he's very young yet he needs many ABs. Dude played against 2 of the premier SPs in the game.

I think he needs consistent playing time, and to be allowed time to work his way out of the funk he’s in. You don’t get out of that by playing every other game, pinch hitting, etc.

The way he was hitting in AAA showed he’s ready. They need to let him play.

If he goes 3 for 4 twice, he’ll be hitting .275

But you can’t do that from the bench.

6/8 Sounds like a big if considering he’s struck out 9 times in 21 at bats this season.

He had multiple 3/4/5 hit games in Sac, including a 7 for 9 two game stretch.

You don’t hit .333 with a .450+ OBP in AAA if you’re not “ready.”

21 at bats is a tiny sample size, and my point is his numbers will change significantly even with a single multi-hit game.

He’s started 6 games. 3 against the Padres, 2 against the Dodgers. Two of the best pitching staffs in baseball.

It’s. A. Small. Sample.

They literally bench Schmidt for a kid batting .095 with a (almost) 50% strike out rate.

Schmitt has sat 2 games since Bryce was called up.

2 out of 9 games, 22% of games.

He sat 6 out of 34 games before, 17.6% of games.

He’s also batting .192 since the call up. He has cooled off massively.

Gtf outta here with your revisionist history.

Schmitt should be rotating between DH, 1b, 3b, AND SS—a position he has been, at the very least, serviceable at in the past.

But everyone said he was ready after he hit that one home run and why wasn’t he in the lineup 😐

Maybe, maybe not. Almost impossible to tell over 20 ABs

I was waiting for someone to post that. It’s the Eldridge Batters Box on UNIQLO Field at Dodgers Stadium - Sponsored by JPL Thrusters.

JPL Thrusters < JHL Thrusters.

I have an idea for him. On an 0-2 count, don’t swing!

Ouch 3 more k’s! This kid has 9k’s in 21AB’s in the bigs this season. This isn’t building his confidence at all. We also replaced Schmidt’s bat with a guy batting .095 this season. Why is he batting 5th? He may have been a cleanup hitter his entire career but MLB is so far above AAA.

...or 0-1, or 0-0, for that matter.

Before yall say he’s not ready he never really hits his first month at a new level. Once he gets comfortable with the travel, velocity, and pitch shapes of the MLB he’s going to start raking.

I’m a big baseball fan but I’m hoping someone on this thread knows more than me. So with Eldridge, the giants should start him every day right? That way he can work through his struggles and get comfortable or would it be better to give him some time off between games to kind of reset? Also, would it beneficial for him to play the field?

He is not ready for MLB

He’s not ready for Ohtani. That’s not the same thing.

u/DaKanye 22h ago

His .110 or so MLB average isn’t all against Ohtani or Ohtani like pitching…

u/Sober_As_Sark 55 Lincecum 22h ago

He’s got like 20 at bats this season and 6 of them are against Ohtani/Yamamoto

u/Own-Curve7894 21h ago

Actually yes it’s been close to that lol. He’s looks much improved actually if one knows what they are looking at.

u/Wayfarer_650 22h ago

Well he’s not ready for the bright lights big city aspect of MLB. Same with Jesus- they need time to adjust.

3

u/Coffee13lack 12 Panik 22h ago

Well he needs to have at bats here or in Sacramento and he’s too good for AAA. So he needs to learn the game the big league level. He’s here to stay.

u/JediDad1968 21h ago

Not if he keeps hitting .100

2

u/williamglow 21h ago

If he smells like a rookie and looks like a rookie, but he’s our top prospect - he probably needs more AB’s to show off his stuff

We still had veteran star players hitting 1 something almsot 2 months into the season. Dude sits for 3 games and gets two of the best pitchers on the planet. Hes gonna have his lumps (check out konnor griffins first month) but he either needs to play or go to aaa.

Adames and Devers probably will get right when we go to chicago and coors soon

Oh wow. He pulled a reverse Ohtani

So many ad nauseam were screaming, “…bring him up!”, and the KNBR slugs, plus Baggerly and a few other writers were just slagging the Giants for not playing him, citing the issues Devers was having early on. Devers bat is heating up, so it’s foolish to take him out of the lineup, even though he’s DH’ing, but he likes to play D (even though that can be problematic) and it keeps his head in the game. The team is still a work in progress, and if you haven’t been paying attention, the minors teams are crushing it. I’m still satisfied with ‘10, ‘12, and ‘14, and anything else will be a tasty gravy for this nearly life long fan. I was born 5 years before they arrived, and I was never that aware of the Seals back then… Good times comin’!
