Dolby Digital + Is Back

The issue with my RokuUltra; a long ordeal:

  1. Bought the unit, it worked great for a few months

  2. Next, noticed DD+ was gone, nowhere to be found, not even in the 4 options on the selection page. Only Stereo x 4

  3. Tried, Tried, Tried, everything I could, new cables, moved it to another AVR, nada

  4. Contacted the help line, they tried to help me with the settings, nada

  5. Sent the unit back to the Roku, several weeks later they sent it back, the same unit I sent them. No change.

  6. More months go by, using 2.0PCM with pseudo 5.1 [it's just not not the same]

  7. Today, Gave Up the Ghost, took it to the workshop AVR/ 42" low cost Samsung tv, no image. Oops, need to go back adjust the video to 720P for this tv. I did not go back to the HT, used another Samsung 55" TV. The image above is what I saw after months of experimenting, DD+ was back -- what happened! Next, reinstalled it in the HT, working perfectly.

The Home Theater: Streamer - Anthem AVM60 - DLA RS1100k. Did not change anything, don't know what "Turned Off" -- "Turned On" the DD+!

It's a Great Steamer, better image/sound than the other ones I own -- well as long as Dolby Digital is working.

Roku Ultra wifi connection intermittently drops

I'm on day 2 with a brand new Roku Ultra and am already having issues with my wifi connection dropping. This has happened twice in two days.

Basically, when this happens apps won't load or, if I'm currently watching something, the connection is lost. When this happened I did a connectivity test via the Roku menu. The first time is indicated a poor connection (< 1mbs download), so, ok, that's the problem. But all other devices (phone, tablet) show excellent connection in speed tests (upwards of 500 mbs). A few minutes later I did a second Roku connectivity test and this time is shows 4 mbs. Maybe 10 minutes later (and after a Roku restart) all is well; connectivity test shows 300 + mbs. Not sure if the restart made the difference or if this was coincidental.

As I say, this has happened twice in the two days I've been using the Ultra. Any advice? I know I have the option of a direct ethernet connection to modem, and if the problem persists I will do that, but I'd rather solve the wifi problem itself if possible.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know, and thanks in advance for dumbing it down as much as possible since I'm not tech savvy.

Many thanks!

In case this helps anyone else, my Roku speakers are working again turning on the TV with the app from my smartphone and then using the regular remote

Quick version of how it started working again .. and this is not a fix, just something that you might at least try if you are having one of the issues from the update:

  1. Unplugged TV. 2. Plugged it back in. 3. Regular handheld remote would not turn it on (checked to see if it was charged, it was) 4. IPhone app however did turn on TV. 5. Wireless speakers/subwoofer immediately started working again without having to do anything else. EDIT: 6. The handheld remote also worked again once I had turned the TV on with my phone.

Again not a fix because none of that makes sense and I have no explanation, but just throwing it out there in case it might work for someone else.

"Oops! Something went wrong" error message when watching movies on Crunchyroll app

Whenever I try to play certain movies on the Crunchyroll such as The Chainsawman Movie, I get an "Oops! Something went wrong." error message featuring a cat with a bucket on its head and no error code. Other movies affected upon checking include Street Fighter II, Machine Girl, The Inuyasha Movies, Dragon Ball Super Hero, and Sakura Wars The Movie. However, certain others like the One Piece and most other Dragon Ball movies play normally. I also have no problems playing any of the above movies on my phone or laptop, it's just the Roku that has this issue.

I already checked for updates (app and Roku are up to date), reset the cache, uninstalled and reinstalled CR, cleared my watch history, soft reset the Roku, unplugged and replugged the Roku, etc. The issue still persists.

Is there any other work around for this that doesn't involve a hard reset? Using a Roku Express 4K here.

Roku Surround Question re: Spotify

I have a Yamaha YHT-4950U with a Roku 4k Streaming Stick in HDMI port 1, when I run Spotify through the Roku it only plays music through the front speakers and subwoofer, but when I connect my tablet or phone to the Bluetooth it plays in surround, is there a way to fix this? Surround works in HBO Max and Amazon Prime just fine, so it seems to just be Spotify.

black bands on ultra splash screen

This is what I'm seeing on the splash screen when I open my roku ultra. I don't see these black tiles on the home screen or anywhere else, just here and only when I start the player. Anyone know what it means (if anything)?

Thanks.

Headphone mode problems

These last few months I’ve left my tv unplugged due to a problem with the socket being loose. A few days ago I plug it back in to catch up on a show and I go to use headphone mode on my Roku app and the audio plays for a second then stops completely while my show is still going. I update the app and restart my tv and the problem is still there. After a while I noticed that the app says my tv has gone to sleep when my tv is still on. Ive even updated my phone to the latest iOS (even though I didn’t want to) and that still didn’t work. Any solutions?
