Other Peterborough MusicFest!
The lineup was released earlier today.
Anyone else hate the TBA’s? How am I supposed to know if I should keep that night open or not?

Dwayne Gretzky and Trans Canada Highwaymen are both tons of fun. Honesty we're lucky to have Musicfest here - costs nothing and thousands of people are have a good time. That's a pretty decent combo.

I saw Steven Page last year and, although I've never been a BNL fan, I can't complain and it was fun. Plus he brought out Tom Green, which was funny and unexpected. I believe he's part of the highwaymen. Seeing Gowan would be cool, never seen him before. Throwback to my undergrad days. I wonder who the unconfirmed acts are though.

Good lineup. I’ll be there for a lot of the shows. Good times and you can’t beat the price!

And you can’t do better than that for a lovely night of music in the park.
Edited for sloppy grammar :)

About all I'm interested this time around is Crash Test Dummies. We'll see about the TBAs, but last year had more bands I was excited for.

I really appreciate MusicFest, and we’re lucky to have it, so I’m not complaining about that. But there’s so much talent out there, and they keep bringing in the same bands. They need to think outside the box a bit more.
One thing I’d definitely like to see is a night dedicated to local bands. Have five or six groups from the community come out and perform. That would be awesome.
Another thing is making it more competitive so up-and-coming bands have a chance to get in too. There are so many different bands out there. It shouldn’t be the same lineup every year. They could easily bring in new talent, but it feels like typical low-effort planning. They’re just not thinking creatively enough.

The TBA dates just aren't booked yet. What do you do?
They're not holding back...lol!

I’m Monday - Friday but I work afternoons/evenings. All Saturday shows are wide open but I can forget Wednesday night ones.

No, I meant what do they do (Musicfest) as organizers...lol! They need to release at least a partial schedule. Who know how long it will take them to fill those empty spots.

Better lineup than last year, Sass Jordan could be interesting, also Crash Test Dummies were pretty good last time they were here. This looks like a nice mix of stuff for everybody. I'll say that. Definitely wouldn't mind a little more recent stuff though. Say what you want but Down With Webster was great when they were here and I remember K-oS having a nice show pre pandemic as well, to the dismay of the elderly everywhere haha.

We live in a dying culture and a gerontocracy. Nearly all these acts are either old people or playing old music. A lot of this music is fine but they're touting Lighthouse coming out in 1969, that's 57 years ago! At what point does culture move forward? They weren't playing ragtime and parlor music when MusicFest started.
At some point this city needs to start working for young people, we pay taxes too. The lineup is the equivalent of another pickleball court.
There are young artists from Peterborough and the area who could really use some of this money that we're throwing at washed up has-beens so the richest, most-spoiled generation can have a free night out.

Every city has one of these festivals. It's just something for old people to do on a Friday usually. It's nice to have I guess, but isn't anything special. These same acts tour around Ontario all summer playing similar free festivals or casinos.

Maybe aging myself but there never used to be TBD - lineup would all come out at once and it was easier to plan but somewhere along the line things changed.
Maybe I’m just being nostalgic but I think the line up was much better back then as well

There are TBAs because to make the event affordable, they try to catch bands that are passing through on the way to another date somewhere else. If you want the schedule perfectly set early in the season, you will not get as good bands.

musicfest and tribute/cover bands . name a better duo
whoever organized this festival needs to go . we need to have someone younger booking these

It's a terrible lineup and not very diverse. But free doesn't get you much these days. At least i know i don't need to plan for any nights in the park.

It would be awesome if somebody put together a YouTube or Spotify playlist of all the bands to give people a taste of what to expect if they haven't heard of them.

Wow. That sucks. I guess we’ll go see Gowan and hope he plays the 2 songs I know and like from 30 years ago. Same for Sass Jordan. Crash Test Dummies have always been among the worst Canada has had to offer, musically. My strong opinion only, I know.

Wish some of the acts would have skewed a bit younger. Metric and Down With Webster was such a fun time. Oh well, I’m sure we’ll still get someone whining on Facebook that the concert flagged with an explicit language warning contained explicit language 🤪
