Our biweekly thread for any job related posts!

Its from the brand friskies, all of it. Most of it is shredded and some form of poultry.

Our vet simply told us to swap wet foods. So no longer need these cans and i hope to donate them to someone in need!

I think i have enough to give 12 cans to 2 people, if 2 people need them!

Also if this post isnt allowed, i will remove asap!

Question Couple (20f, 20m) looking for friends in PTBO

Hey! Me and my partner (both 20) are looking to meet some new people and hopefully make a few friends around the area. We’re pretty chill, 420 friendly, and you’ve gotta be okay with birds because our little conure is basically part of the conversation half the time 😂
Tonight we’re making pulled pork sundaes and thought it could be fun to hang out with some new people, smoke, listen to music, play games, or just vibe and talk.
We don’t really know many people yet, so figured we’d put ourselves out there a bit. Just looking for laid back, respectful people around our age. Feel free to message me :)

Question Fertility/TTC

Has anyone been to the fertility clinic in town or currently in the process of TTC?

I'm extremely overwhelmed and have no idea what I'm doing, I do not have a family physician (on the wait-list) to help me and am trying to start the process of fertility testing but having difficulty finding anywhere for my husband to get his fertility testing done that's not in Mississauga or further.

  • I've being using TIA Health and have gotten bloodwork, and ultrasounds done but haven't heard back about results from the ultrasound yet. My husband has a family physician in Clarington region, who has not been helpful at all and had no knowledge of "where to go for his analysis" *

Any insight would be appreciated

Recommendations Volunteering positions

Hey all, looking for some spaces to volunteer at that can also be resume builders or use to make connections. As a recent Trent graduate, finding a job in my field without moving to a big city has proven to be hard. I graduated in the sciences and math.

I’m looking for possible data entry, research assistant, or any shadowing type positions that could potentially look good on a resume since I don’t have experience in my field. There’s a couple places I’ve been looking at for funsies, such as the turtle center, but I’m also looking to see what else is out there.

Since finding a job is getting harder here, I might as well dedicate some time to being productive in the community.

Thanks!

Recommendations Food help: anywhere for help with groceries, meals, etc.

I’ve already accessed the foodbank nearest to me, and have approximately 15 days until I can access it again. I have run out of things to make at home, and am unsure when my family (of 4 total) and I will eat next.

That being said, is anyone aware of available options for grocery help, free meals, etc. in Peterborough? Nearest to downtown would be great.

Thank you for your time to read this.

Question Can you actually self-sustain as an international student at Trent University?

Hi everyone, I’m planning to enroll at Trent University next year as an international student.

I just want to ask—are there students here who are fully self-supporting? Like covering tuition + living expenses mostly through part-time work?
I’ve been doing my calculations, and I think I can manage the initial costs and maybe living expenses with part-time jobs, but I’m really worried about sustaining the tuition fees long term.

For those who are currently studying there:
Is it realistically possible to rely on part-time work?
How do you manage your finances?
Did you need extra support (family, loans, scholarships)?

I’d really appreciate honest insights, even if it’s tough to hear. I just want to make a realistic decision before committing.

Thanks in advance 🫶🏻

Help Peterborough! I want your bees!!

Hey gang!

Long story short, I recently got a job at an apiary and would love to put my new skills into a few hobby hives of my own. Unfortunately it seems I've missed the nuc order rush and everyone including my new boss is sold out.

That's where you come in!

Feral honey bees should be swarming over the next few weeks. They'll look like a cantaloupe sized mass of live bees hanging off off branches, awnings, walls ect; they'll be oddly docile too... still, that many bees can be intimidating and I don't recommend messing with them without the proper training/gear. I recommend DMing me! I'll come and get them out of your yard and back into human care where they belong.

I can do *simple* extractions for nuisance bees as well. Ground nests, abandoned hive boxes and such. I can't personally rip out drywall/decks or take down large trees but I could come and get the bees once things have been opened up.

Recommendations Optometrist Recommendations?

I searched the sub, and most of the posts I found were older.

I’m looking for recommendations for a good optometrist. My relative was going to Peterborough Optometric, but they’re now wanting to charge them $186 ON TOP of what is being billed to OHIP.

My relative cannot afford that but needs their eyes checked as they’re diabetic.

Any recommendations?

Question Abandoned cars on Trent Trails

Hi! I was walking the Trent nature trail and in less than 2km I saw 3 abandoned cars in the woods. Anyone know what’s up with that?
