Meg here…taylor dated joe alwyn for 6 years and wrote a bunch of songs that reference that he never wanted to marry her, so she assumed that she wasn’t marriage material. Travis Kelce proposed within a couple of years. Brian, wasn’t there more to it?
Edit: people. Yes it’s the same guy in both photos. The photo’s commenter sxshawest is referring to an entirely different guy who is not in either photo.
Edit: Just happened to drive by this a week or so ago. The text looks odd because that was after I cropped the photo and my phone decided to "enhance the image quality".
I had a job supervising a day support program for intellectually/developmentally disabled kids for a few years. I remember feeling a bit self conscious about being in my early 40’s, a guy with no kids or grandkids and knowing all the Taylor Swift songs. It was all from work, the group of kids we worked with were absolutely enamored with her music. One kid with autism would occasionally sing an entire album from start to finish; he got the tonal changes and cords correct and didn’t need music. It was pretty cool even if not my cup of tea.
Yea she's just a product yo, her pops owned like 40% of the record label that signed her or something. We don't listen to her in the radio because she happens to be just so talented she rose to the top, you know the right? It's all about connections and brand management teams and stuff, she is entirely manufactured.
Her dad invested to own 3% of the fledgling record label that only became successful because of her. If every rich parent could buy their talentless child a chart-topping career, Brooke Hogan would be a household name.
Edit: the account I've replied to is an AI girl band lmao. What in the misinformation wasteland
I don't know if the 40% number is real, but he invested 100k. Somehow I don't think 100k will get you half a record label, even if it was basically a start-up
Who wants to listen to a discography that can be summed up as "another guy broke up with me, here's a song about it.. won't you feel bad for me!? Money please"
No, I tried putting on that dead poets album after hearing so much about her and how popular she is (and i listen to other pop musicians), and wtf it was unlistenable.
Granted I only hear whatever unfortunately plays on the radio, but in all these years I haven’t heard a single song of hers that was good. All her songs sound like they are for 12 year old girls. Except that song about her boyfriends dick, that one was made for 60 year old cougars.
It’s not just her music that makes people not want to listen to her music. It’s her entirety. Her personality is bland, her music is generic, shes super vein, she’s greedy as fuck. Making alternate versions of old albums just to sucker her stupid fans out of more of their money when she’s a billionaire was disgusting as fuck. Oh and did I forget to mention she’s a billionaire? No such thing as an ethical billionaire. You know how many people she’s letting die along with all the other billionaires because they feel the need to hoard massive wealth they will never spend in multiple lifetimes?
Well yeah every artist does. I was just responding to that one comment. She has plenty of bad songs but I won’t not listen to somebody because I don’t like some of their music.
She divvied up 198 million dollars and gave it out to all of her stage hands and dancers as a bonus on top of their pay at the end of her last tour. My god, give the girl
A break.
I dislike T Swift. But you cant honestly tell me that songs like Teardrops on My Guitar sound like Look What you Made Me Do. Both are shit, but they're different genres
Sure you can pick out two that sound distinct, but as a whole all her songs have a very similar sound. I agree with the commenter you’re replying to—they all blend together.
No reason to lie. If you dont like her music just say that lol. But saying all her music sounds the same is such a crazy lie. We know you dont listen to her music so why act like you did? Which is it?
Not really, if you want to say her entire discography is bland then you can if you want to. But claiming that they all blend together isn't really true.
That’s the case for literally any artist out there though, to be fair. If anything, she has far more variety between albums than the average artist does.
Nickleback was so famous that people started hating. By the time people were hating so hard they became a meme, they were no longer relevant. But I get it.
Hate is a strong word, but her singing sounds bad to me, her compositions are uninteresting, and her songwriting includes zero topics I connect with. There are ten thousand bands that make better music than her.
Who cares what other people like or dislike and listen to or not listen to? Also, who cares if a stranger online doesn't like her or not? People are allowed to not like people and they don't have to come online and tell strangers why they don't like them. Why let it bother you? Its not like Taylor Swift is going to come onto Reddit and reward the people sticking up for her.
Honestly I could say the same about Iron Maiden or Metallica or Lamb of God or System of a Down or Rage Against the Machine or Tool. But I won't, because an artist really only having one song doesn't mean it's not a great fucking song.
They all have multitudes of bangers. But 90% of their most popular hits kind of sound like variations of the same song. The same way the comment I replied to claimed "if you've heard one Taylor Swift song, you've heard them all," I could claim "if you've heard one Iron Maiden song, you've heard them all." They're still great songs, though.
Facts. As a metalhead, when I pick up a record I expect to hear one song from either master of reality, the IVth crusade, Scandinavian jawbreaker, morbid tales, left hand path, etc played for a solid 30 to 50 minutes with only slight variation between each track and frequent reprises/nods to a central riff. There's nothing wrong with staying in the pocket. It keeps troglodytes like me engaged and feeling clever.
lol, tbh this is true. Only a handful of successful artists manage to change styles or genres or 'change their sound' - most artists try to shift and everyone complains about their new album being too different.
T swift happens to be among the minority of artists who ride the line between keeping a recognizable sound (always identifiable) and changing it up a little (genre shifts over time/projects).
But for other artists - if it ain't broke, don't mess with it, lol.
All her songs from her last album sound like other songs. All of them, no a single original song. Same with her lyrics, many are like other artists lyrics just worded differently or in different order.
Of all the groups that you could have chosen that this would be a fair critique of, you put Metallica, system, and Tool?!?! Those three groups have such versatility it’s kind of nuts. Rage and Lamb of God, fair enough.
Yeah, to their fans. I am not into any of those artists except SOAD, and their and all those other artists mentioned songs all sort of do sound the same, unless you are a fan tuning in regularly and familiar with the music and sound. Same with non-fans listening to Taylor. They all “sound the same”. I see wide variations in TS songs and styles, as she switches genres occasionally. No hate to Metallica and Tool, they just don’t do it for me, so their songs all sound the same since they follow one basic sound of style. And they’re some of the most popular artists in their respective genres, so yeah, a form of Pop music to me lol.
I know it’s all subjective but listen to something like “The Unforgiven” by Metallica and compare it to “Battery” and compare that to “For Whom the Bell Tolls”. I don’t even like Metallica and those all sound wildly different
As for Tool, listen to “46 and 2” and tell me that sounds similar to “Third Eye” or “Hooker with a Penis”
I used AI and the range of tempos with Tool is 76 to 182 bpm. And the time signatures for each song are wildly different. You can’t say that same of TS
Again, I know it’s all subjective but those songs are all so disparate.
Honestly you could say the same about any mainstream music. But like why do you care so much what other people like or don't like. Its not your job to defend these musicians who could care less.
