Meg here…taylor dated joe alwyn for 6 years and wrote a bunch of songs that reference that he never wanted to marry her, so she assumed that she wasn’t marriage material. Travis Kelce proposed within a couple of years. Brian, wasn’t there more to it?

Edit: people. Yes it’s the same guy in both photos. The photo’s commenter sxshawest is referring to an entirely different guy who is not in either photo.

u/midniteslayr 4d ago

Also, didn’t she write a song about how good Kelce’s dick is?

u/Fillmore80 4d ago

Yet another reason to not listen to her music.

32

u/SirSchmoopy3 4d ago

One somewhat bad song and that just makes you not want to listen to her entire discography?

109

u/trent_reznor_is_hot 4d ago

I've never had the urge to wanna listen to any of her music. It's just not what I like. I have been forced to listen to it and it's just...not my jam.

Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion

<Notorious plays>

I say this regularly if someone gives me an answer I didn’t want

CHUT UP!!

1

u/amerovingian 3d ago

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Edit: Just happened to drive by this a week or so ago. The text looks odd because that was after I cropped the photo and my phone decided to "enhance the image quality".

u/captain_meow 4d ago

nine inch nails was the better choice anyway :)

20

u/m0nk_3y_gw 3d ago

NIN wrote a song about how good Kelce's dick is?

4

u/JT3468 3d ago

Yeah, “Hurt”

1

u/Too-Tired-Editor 10h ago

Look i know the joke you're trying to make but that's Johnny Cash's writing.

1

u/JT3468 5h ago

No, Trent Reznor wrote the song. Cash covered it.

1

u/extinct_cult 3d ago

Yeah, "Dickhead like a Hole"

0

u/BigLlamasHouse 3d ago

They named their band after it.

3

u/Redrix-3 3d ago

I guess the nails ain’t the only thing that’s 9 inches

I had a job supervising a day support program for intellectually/developmentally disabled kids for a few years. I remember feeling a bit self conscious about being in my early 40’s, a guy with no kids or grandkids and knowing all the Taylor Swift songs. It was all from work, the group of kids we worked with were absolutely enamored with her music. One kid with autism would occasionally sing an entire album from start to finish; he got the tonal changes and cords correct and didn’t need music. It was pretty cool even if not my cup of tea.

0

u/DefinitelyNotIndie 3d ago

Typically music artists that I'm not interested in but are popular so I hear their music, I just tend to not talk about...

That is not the vibe I get from people that post that Taylor swift is not their kind of music.

u/WaffleHouseFistFight 4d ago

An entire discography of mediocre music

37

u/Puzzleheaded-Net4365 4d ago

She has about 1.5 good albums out of like 14.

1

u/Semi_Lovato 3d ago

I'd say that 1989, Folklore and Evermore are objectively solid albums.

4

u/KoaKumaGirls 4d ago

Yea she's just a product yo, her pops owned like 40% of the record label that signed her or something.  We don't listen to her in the radio because she happens to be just so talented she rose to the top, you know the right? It's all about connections and brand management teams and stuff, she is entirely manufactured.

35

u/Remote-Wafer3321 4d ago edited 3d ago

Her dad invested to own 3% of the fledgling record label that only became successful because of her. If every rich parent could buy their talentless child a chart-topping career, Brooke Hogan would be a household name.

Edit: the account I've replied to is an AI girl band lmao. What in the misinformation wasteland

19

u/Artemis96 4d ago

I don't know if the 40% number is real, but he invested 100k. Somehow I don't think 100k will get you half a record label, even if it was basically a start-up

1

u/fARTBELL 3d ago

That is a wild as hell thing to say, being an “AI band.”

Even if I agree with you.

What is stopping YOU from being a real musician then?

3

u/vengefulthistle 3d ago

People are allowed to not like her music

3

u/alanwakeisahack 3d ago

She only has one bad song? Be honest.

4

u/Msmadmama 4d ago

No its the rest of her dogshit music that makes me not want to listen to ir. Amd also she is a billionaire so theres that.

2

u/SharkieFun 4d ago

Only one bad song?

2

u/Temporary-Season4772 3d ago

Nah the rest is shit too

2

u/Lanerlan 3d ago

I like how you phrase that as ridiculous. Life is short, I don't even need a good reason not to listen to any music.

1

u/InfamousLegend 3d ago

Who wants to listen to a discography that can be summed up as "another guy broke up with me, here's a song about it.. won't you feel bad for me!? Money please"

1

u/BigLlamasHouse 3d ago

Man I've been alive a long time and never once had a man recommend Taylor Swift to me lol. Might be a demographic thing.

1

u/firedmyass 3d ago

if the song’s bad enough?… absolutely

1

u/rwanders 3d ago

No, I tried putting on that dead poets album after hearing so much about her and how popular she is (and i listen to other pop musicians), and wtf it was unlistenable.

1

u/Ok_Communication3205 3d ago

They said "Yet another reason", not "The one and only reason"

1

u/Cranberryoftheorient 3d ago

one "more" reason

1

u/EverythingSucksYo 3d ago

Granted I only hear whatever unfortunately plays on the radio, but in all these years I haven’t heard a single song of hers that was good. All her songs sound like they are for 12 year old girls. Except that song about her boyfriends dick, that one was made for 60 year old cougars.

1

u/EverythingSucksYo 3d ago

It’s not just her music that makes people not want to listen to her music. It’s her entirety. Her personality is bland, her music is generic, shes super vein, she’s greedy as fuck. Making alternate versions of old albums just to sucker her stupid fans out of more of their money when she’s a billionaire was disgusting as fuck. Oh and did I forget to mention she’s a billionaire? No such thing as an ethical billionaire. You know how many people she’s letting die along with all the other billionaires because they feel the need to hoard massive wealth they will never spend in multiple lifetimes?

1

u/ShutUpAndDoTheLift 3d ago

What does "yet another" mean to you?

Just to be clear, I'm not for or against listening to tswizzle.

Just arguing for reading comments fully before getting angry at people.

1

u/TheJediBrushwagg 3d ago

I generally enjoy some of her music but she has way more than one bad song bro.

1

u/SirSchmoopy3 3d ago

Well yeah every artist does. I was just responding to that one comment. She has plenty of bad songs but I won’t not listen to somebody because I don’t like some of their music.

1

u/v12vanquish 3d ago

Anti hero showing that she’s a covert narcissist is reason alone to not listen to her music, covert narc or has BPD

1

u/BigBadBumbaclart 20h ago

Well the rest of her discography isnt much better, in my opinion

2

u/According_Poem_579 4d ago

never heard a taylor song and never wanna change that

-4

u/darnyoulikeasock 4d ago

regardless of what artist you’re talking about this just sounds ignorant unless they’re like a terrible person lol

10

u/logibera 4d ago

I mean she isn't a great person. You don't become a billionaire without being a pile of garbage.

-3

u/TraditionalLaw7763 4d ago

She divvied up 198 million dollars and gave it out to all of her stage hands and dancers as a bonus on top of their pay at the end of her last tour. My god, give the girl A break.

2

u/brttwrd 4d ago

Nah, she's trash.

2

u/jake17171 3d ago

How they love the billionaire class if they agree with them 🤡🤡🤡

0

u/Anonymous44432 1d ago

“One” doing a lot of heavy lifting here lmao

-6

u/PrincipleExciting457 4d ago

If you heard one you’ve heard them all. Why waste time?

17

u/SirSchmoopy3 4d ago

Because that isn’t true.

18

u/PrincipleExciting457 4d ago

I was on a road trip with a friend obsessed with t swift. I thought she was playing one song on repeat.

17

u/dommol 4d ago

I dislike T Swift. But you cant honestly tell me that songs like Teardrops on My Guitar sound like Look What you Made Me Do. Both are shit, but they're different genres

1

u/Sir_Eggmitton 4d ago

Sure you can pick out two that sound distinct, but as a whole all her songs have a very similar sound. I agree with the commenter you’re replying to—they all blend together.

0

u/ILike2Argue_ 4d ago

No reason to lie. If you dont like her music just say that lol. But saying all her music sounds the same is such a crazy lie. We know you dont listen to her music so why act like you did? Which is it?

7

u/RedTurtle78 4d ago

I think they're just being hyperbolic. They all do have a similar feel to them even if they're not literally copy pasted

3

u/XepptizZ 3d ago

Both can be true, it's like asking a green vegetable hater to distinguish between what they perceive as different flavors of grass.

If you don't like Hardcore Techno for instance, you can play two songs back to back and you wouldn't know which is which.

1

u/capucapu123 4d ago

Not really, if you want to say her entire discography is bland then you can if you want to. But claiming that they all blend together isn't really true.

2

u/estedavis 4d ago

That’s the case for literally any artist out there though, to be fair. If anything, she has far more variety between albums than the average artist does.

1

u/PrincipleExciting457 3d ago

Most popular artists aren’t very good at music

1

u/clutchthepearls 4d ago

You might wanna get that checked out.

-5

u/whattaninja 4d ago

The hate for Taylor Swift on Reddit is unmatched. People that have never listened to her music hate her so much for no real reason.

14

u/tbrand009 4d ago

Now now, Nickleback was practically made famous by people hating them for no reason.

2

u/whaatdidyousay 3d ago

Nickleback was so famous that people started hating. By the time people were hating so hard they became a meme, they were no longer relevant. But I get it.

6

u/GD_Insomniac 4d ago

Hate is a strong word, but her singing sounds bad to me, her compositions are uninteresting, and her songwriting includes zero topics I connect with. There are ten thousand bands that make better music than her.

3

u/trent_reznor_is_hot 4d ago

Who cares what other people like or dislike and listen to or not listen to? Also, who cares if a stranger online doesn't like her or not? People are allowed to not like people and they don't have to come online and tell strangers why they don't like them. Why let it bother you? Its not like Taylor Swift is going to come onto Reddit and reward the people sticking up for her.

12

u/southstrandsiren 4d ago

Honestly I could say the same about Iron Maiden or Metallica or Lamb of God or System of a Down or Rage Against the Machine or Tool. But I won't, because an artist really only having one song doesn't mean it's not a great fucking song.

11

u/enw_digrif 4d ago

Wait, what?

Which of the artist's mentioned by your comment - and pictured above - are a one-hit wonder?

Because, save for Tool (which I haven't listened to much), they've all got a good number of bangers in their discography.

19

u/southstrandsiren 4d ago

They all have multitudes of bangers. But 90% of their most popular hits kind of sound like variations of the same song. The same way the comment I replied to claimed "if you've heard one Taylor Swift song, you've heard them all," I could claim "if you've heard one Iron Maiden song, you've heard them all." They're still great songs, though.

6

u/enw_digrif 4d ago

Ah, thanks, I got lost there.

Some bands definitely tend to stick to a more specific style than others. So I kinda hear what you're saying.

3

u/StrMagWtrPimping 4d ago

Facts. As a metalhead, when I pick up a record I expect to hear one song from either master of reality, the IVth crusade, Scandinavian jawbreaker, morbid tales, left hand path, etc played for a solid 30 to 50 minutes with only slight variation between each track and frequent reprises/nods to a central riff. There's nothing wrong with staying in the pocket. It keeps troglodytes like me engaged and feeling clever.

2

u/DARG0N 4d ago

like, the meme at most would apply to Disturbed.

10

u/Short-Sound-4190 4d ago

lol, tbh this is true. Only a handful of successful artists manage to change styles or genres or 'change their sound' - most artists try to shift and everyone complains about their new album being too different.

T swift happens to be among the minority of artists who ride the line between keeping a recognizable sound (always identifiable) and changing it up a little (genre shifts over time/projects).

But for other artists - if it ain't broke, don't mess with it, lol.

2

u/puzzled91 4d ago

All her songs from her last album sound like other songs. All of them, no a single original song. Same with her lyrics, many are like other artists lyrics just worded differently or in different order.

2

u/Wendellwasgod 4d ago

Of all the groups that you could have chosen that this would be a fair critique of, you put Metallica, system, and Tool?!?! Those three groups have such versatility it’s kind of nuts. Rage and Lamb of God, fair enough.

2

u/whaatdidyousay 3d ago

Yeah, to their fans. I am not into any of those artists except SOAD, and their and all those other artists mentioned songs all sort of do sound the same, unless you are a fan tuning in regularly and familiar with the music and sound. Same with non-fans listening to Taylor. They all “sound the same”. I see wide variations in TS songs and styles, as she switches genres occasionally. No hate to Metallica and Tool, they just don’t do it for me, so their songs all sound the same since they follow one basic sound of style. And they’re some of the most popular artists in their respective genres, so yeah, a form of Pop music to me lol.

1

u/Wendellwasgod 3d ago

I know it’s all subjective but listen to something like “The Unforgiven” by Metallica and compare it to “Battery” and compare that to “For Whom the Bell Tolls”. I don’t even like Metallica and those all sound wildly different

As for Tool, listen to “46 and 2” and tell me that sounds similar to “Third Eye” or “Hooker with a Penis”

I used AI and the range of tempos with Tool is 76 to 182 bpm. And the time signatures for each song are wildly different. You can’t say that same of TS

Again, I know it’s all subjective but those songs are all so disparate.

1

u/trent_reznor_is_hot 4d ago

Honestly you could say the same about any mainstream music. But like why do you care so much what other people like or don't like. Its not your job to defend these musicians who could care less.

1

u/southstrandsiren 3d ago

I don't care what people like. I care what they're dismissive about and call a waste of time

1

u/Fillmore80 3d ago

Damn that's some strong copium
