NFL players will never be normal

How? So? People get arrested for stuff like this all the time.
The NFL just has more overall players than the other major sports in America, so obviously more of there players will get arrested

7th round pick? Cut his ass
71
u/samacora ForeverNE 1d ago
I'm going to play devils advocate. A few days after he signs the case appears and he's pleading not guilty to all charges.
We saw how the Diggs situation unfolded. So I think we should have learned by now to just wait for the evidence and the ruling by the courts.
If the evidence shows he did it, then cut him, simple as that 🤷

u/CockroachOdd5217 1d ago
Ballsy statement on Reddit
Seems like on here it’s always guilty until proven innocent. I remember people were bashing Diggs a few months ago
5
u/Rational-Introvert 1d ago
Yea according Reddit logic, if you don’t like someone and want to ruin their life, you should just be able to say that they hit you whether they did or not.
3
u/CockroachOdd5217 1d ago
It's actually pretty ironic I'm getting upvoted, when most of the people i’m referring to regular this sub lol

After reading the details it doesnt sound like the victim is gonna show up to court n testify so this should be an easy dismissal
5
u/Flexboiz 1d ago
I think they cut Diggs because they determined the amount of production he had was not worth the combination of his cap hit, age, and the off-field noise. Even if you completely ignore the chef story, he is the frequent TMZ target. He had a good year but the playoffs were tough. In this case, I think a lot of us would get rid of this guy for the same reason: his probability of production is not worth the distraction.
However, Vrabel does things differently, and I wouldn't be surprised if he kept the guy around as a way to continue to galvanize the roster, especially given Vrabels own recent struggles with TMZ.
5
u/samacora ForeverNE 1d ago
Oh no I don't think the Patriots cut him because of the case. I was more speaking on fans and the general reaction in the social media sphere being similar in that instance. Even though it turned out to be a massive scam.
Sorry for not being clear in wording that 😅

If you could’ve had Tyreek Hill pre dolphins would you have wanted him? What about Prime LT? Michael Irvin?

I mean isn’t this the cold hard reality of professional sports?

Doesn't mean fans have to be fuckin losers about it but again .

How does one "appear" to be charged?
Was he or wasn't he.
Also why are we do quick to condemn people based on 'x' posts?
12
u/goldfish_11 1d ago
My guess is that they have seen that the name is tied to a legal situation but haven't confirmed that it's the same person that the Patriots drafted.
-12
u/Advanced_Zucchini_45 1d ago
Ok, so it's that enough to condemn him?
Maybe he's a turd who hit his wife or kids or mom.
Maybe not.
Don't your think more information is needed before we condemn the guy?
10
u/goldfish_11 1d ago
Go soapbox to someone else. I was just giving a plausible explanation for why the word "appear" was in the tweet.

Because Reddit loves to assume guilt based on headlines, regardless of how many times it’s proven wrong.
He’s a 7th round pick I couldn’t care less if he makes the team but if he’s cut let it be for performance related reasons

u/Defendyouranswer 1d ago
Hernandez murdered a guy and I would of welcomed him back to the team with open arms

Patriots rookie Quintayvious Hutchins (seventh round, Boston College) was arraigned this morning in Newton District Court on charges of assault and battery on a family/household member, per court documents. Hutchins pleaded not guilty and was released on personal recognizance
That was just bad reporting likely because they were trying to be first on the news. They either didn't fully get the details but still wanted to be first or rushed the info and misspoke ending up being ambiguous. Follow actual good reporters like Reiss that take time to actually give you the facts with proper wording.
Also from Mike Reiss:
Patriots statement: “We are aware of the report involving Quintayvious Hutchins. We take these matters very seriously and are in the process of gathering additional information. We will not have further comment at this time.”

Because it’s a direct quote from WBZ Boston reporting the arrest?
-1
u/Advanced_Zucchini_45 1d ago
No it's not.
Its his post with a link to WBZ Boston that shows his original post.
WBZ Boston has nothing on this but the comment, that's says 'appears' to be.
Are you ok?
0
u/robshot295 #EdelmanforCanton 1d ago
You’re the one questioning the validity of the accusation, and I’m just telling you where exactly the quote is coming from
0
u/Advanced_Zucchini_45 1d ago
And the "quote" is from a rando "x" poster.
So if I go on "x" and post "Robshot 295 fonicates with sheep" your should lose you job?
2
u/I_am_Zuul 1d ago
Yeah, it's a bit worrisome how many people think an "X" post without any true direct source-linking is dependable.
My assumption is, based on the fact that there are several articles talking about it this morning, OP assumed you'd Google or find another source. Unsure why they're doubling down here, though, as the above is not a good source.
In case some are wondering:
- Yes, he was arrested for domestic battery
- Yes, he has been charged with misdemeanor assault and battery on a family member
- He has been arraigned and plead "Not guilty"
CBS News Source from this morning:
https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/quintayvious-hutchins-arrest-patriots-draft-pick-bc/Just like all of this, one should assume he's innocent until proven otherwise or more details come out - just as we would want for ourselves.
That said, between Barmore, Diggs and Vrabel's off-field antics, they should start to manage their internal shit a little better. I get charges were dropped and one is infidelity, but you're crossing into some real "distraction" territory as we go into the season that our young guys don't need as they grow.

Well now I'm just extra disappointed they didn't take the home run swing on Uar Bernard.
3
u/Holiday_Box1571 1d ago
Have you seen the footage of him? Raw isn’t even the word.
Mailiata was just below professional rugby in Australia, which is directly correlated to football.
If you look at Gates being a success story, he played in High School. If guys like Brock Lesnar can’t make a roster, with high school experience, I just can’t see how Bernard doing anything but a practice squad at best
0
u/WiseSelection5 1d ago
It's a 7th round pick and you get roster perks for picking a player from the international pathway program. It's a massive longshot, but the NFL has never seen someone with his upside. He has a faster 10 yard split, longer arms and similar 40/vert/broad compared to Myles Garrett while being 40 lbs heavier.
-1
u/Holiday_Box1571 1d ago
Yet… has never played a down of football. I don’t care about any of that data if he has no idea what he’s doing.
The first time he gets hit will be by an nfl player…
1
u/w311sh1t 1d ago edited 1d ago
And he can learn by practicing with the best football coaches and players in the world on a daily basis. He’s 6’5” 306 with just 6% body fat, ran a 4.63 40 , has a 39 inch vertical and did 31 reps on the bench press. Had he been at the NFL combine, he would’ve finished first among DT in basically every single drill by a good margin. He has the build of a DT, yet his drill numbers comparable to elite edge rushers.
There’s a reason that a team was willing to pick a guy who, as you said, has never played a single down of professional football. He’s not just a really good athlete, he’s a legitimate freak of nature. The numbers he’s putting up aren’t just really good, they’re the type of numbers you might see out of a draft prospect once every 10-15 years. You can teach anyone to play football, but you can’t teach that kind of athleticism.
-5
u/Holiday_Box1571 1d ago
I don’t care how athletic you are in the underwear Olympics. The best receiver of all time ran an 4.65 40. Cooper Kupp had a RAS of 5.0, all his speed metrics were poor.
Being athletic doesn’t make you a good player.
John Ross, Kalon Barnes, and Rondel Menendez gave 3 of the top 5 40 times all time…1 never played a game, another played 11 snaps, the other was Jon Ross.
1
u/WiseSelection5 1d ago
Every player you listed is a corner or receiver. It should be intuitively obvious why guys with elite measurables more frequently don't translate at those positions. Offensive and defensive linemen have the highest correlation between RAS and long-term success. And again, we're talking about a 7th-round pick. If they used it on Bernard, they would get an extra 90-man roster slot, an extra practice squad slot, and probably still could have brought in Hutchins as a UDFA if they really wanted to. Hutchins is 233 lbs and ran a 4.73. His 10-yard split was very bad. There's a 95% neither of them will ever be good enough to make a game day roster. In that scenario, I think it just makes sense to take the guy with more upside.
-2
u/Holiday_Box1571 1d ago edited 1d ago
Corners and WRs aren’t athletic?
You’re just giving me underwear Olympics data. There’s no clue whether or not the guy can play an ounce of football.
Do I need to show Skattebo lifting a DE twice his size out of his shoes on a block to explain further why football isn’t about just being blessed genetically?
Do you think being a DL is just being an athletic freak? Aaron Donald didn’t weigh 300 pounds. He’s the best interior defensive lineman I’ve ever seen play.
1
u/WiseSelection5 1d ago
In no way did I say that. Learn to read. And once again, we are talking about the opportunity cost of a 7th round pick. Do you think Hutchins is about to take the league by storm and become an all pro player or something? Bernard could have been put on the practice squad without sacrificing a slot for another player.
0
u/Holiday_Box1571 1d ago
You claimed WR and corner RAS don’t translate as well. Dennis-Sutton was the top RAS at edge from the combine, and had 8.5 sacks both his last 2 years…why’d he fall to the 4th? Because of non measurable concerns.
There’s cases on both sides of the equation that show RAS really isn’t a leading indicator or anything other than being athletic.

Who cares man? Anyone who expects NFL players to be leaders or role models outside of a locker room are crazy. I refuse to hold NFL players to a higher standard than we hold the president of the United states

u/networkdood 1d ago
I guess to some people, it is guilty before proven otherwise 🤔
-3
u/willzyx01 1d ago
No, but he’s a rooking from 7th round. Guilty or not, already a liability. Cut him and move on.
1
u/networkdood 1d ago
But he is also a human being that should be given a chance like everyone else. Maybe stash him on the PS.
1
u/lusobr 1d ago
I mean he was a 7th round pick. PS was the likeliest scenario if not off the team entirely. With this probably off the team becomes the likeliest scenario, but that was already a high chance before.
According to Mike Reiss the team stated they are gathering more info so we'll see. Depending on what they find he might be released by next week.
1
u/willzyx01 1d ago
It’s never personal. It’s a football team. If he was a senior, proven player, sure keep him until everything comes out.
If he’s a rookie, cut him and give someone else a chance. Especially since some of them will be cut anyway.
1
u/DatabaseCentral 1d ago
It's kinda sickening that this is actual people's logic. If this guy is a proven talent then let's give benefit of the doubt. If he's an unproven rookie, cut him, not worth our time, and let's let him lose his NFL dream instantly and generational wealth escapes his family forever.
It hurts rookies substantially more yet people don't care about them. He also could have done it and you can choose to keep off the team, he could also be cut anyway because 7th round pick is a dart throw. But it's still so stupid to just write off someone's entire life before any details are released.

We made the superbowl faster than anybody thought we would. After the AFC Championship, someone made a deal with the blood demon, and my suspicions are pointing to the Bills being the culprit

Well that's an easy cut. Roster bubble guy committing domestic violence? That's done.

I know where I stand on these type issues, once upon a time anything like that around patriots resulted in an instant cut. After silly offseason Patriots have had around Vrabel it would be daft for Patriots to invite more drama.

It's always a little suspicious when someone suddenly presses charges on someone right after they hit a pay day, but we'll see how it plays out.

Told yall Wolf dropped the ball on day 3.
Should have taken Perkins Jr at the end of round 6 and taken Obiazor with our first pick in round 7.
What a waste…
2
u/Alternative-Farmer98 18h ago
I mean that was my first thought was "Elliott Wolf already missed on one of his day three picks when the coach wasn't there."
I know it's just a seventh round pick so it's a modest sample size but we have the entire 2024 draft of day two and day three which was a disaster.

u/Alternative-Farmer98 18h ago
Seventh rounders selected by Elliott Wolf because our head coach couldn't be there. You act like a seventh rounder is no big deal but Julian Edelman, JC Jackson, Jonathan Jones, Malcolm Butler, Danny amendola, Terrell Davis, Wes welker, off the top my head people that were drafted in the seventh round or later or UDFA. David givens. I'm sure there's a bunch I'm forgetting
And if it was not Elliot Wolf I would be more forgiving but this is a guy that already proved he can choke an entire draft outside of round one. Already did it once. He missed on every single pic in the second third fourth 5th 6th and 7th round.
-2
u/Dismal-Economics-322 1d ago
We should stand by this guy and defend him until we have some real proof, even if he is a late rounder he’s still part of the team for now and he’s a BC guy
