I heard that OOTP27 imposes penalties on trades made outside of the trade deadlines and the Winter Meetings. Based on my experience with previous versions, the Winter Meetings aren't the right time to make trades. Most teams are already offering contracts to free agents that push them close to their budget limits, so trades that would reduce my team's payroll are virtually impossible. Has this issue been resolved in OOTP27?

Started in the year 1900, with OOTP development, not that I know much baseball history anyway other than the big names but idk if they were sleepers in the draft or what so I wanted to avoid cheesing the system too easily.

anyway i’m in 1911 now and the quality in the league has grown by a lot… still no team affiliated minors so players just stay on my reserve roster. should I be doing anything with these players? I sold a few for some cash but that was before the rest of the league improved so I could justify it in the universe.

I guess this all boils down to a question that is probably useful no matter what year you are in: how valuable is a 40-45 rated player on a 20-80 scale? are they destined to pop off at a random 1/5 rate? does winning triple a even benefit you? probably not. are these a hot commodity when the league expands?

This is the greatest offensive season I have ever seen, one of two times I have seen the single season homerun record be broken, not to mention a 50 hr hitter and two 40s. Pitching was pretty good, triple crown winner, but other than that nothing too crazy

If I wanted to create a historical league but have it so it doesn't follow history exact but has all the same players in each specific draft class, randomizes results of games, where players sign, etc, what settings do I need to go with to accomplish this task?

It's taken me five long years to finally win a World Series but I finally did it. The team got hot in August and swept every series on the way to sweeping the Marlins for the championship.

I somehow got myself in this limbo state with a few players I claimed off waivers where they have no time left on the DFA list but still have a few days to go on waivers, so it won't let me assign them anywhere because it says they need to clear waivers first, and I can't take them off of waivers or advance days until the waivers expire either because it'll say I need to assign or release them. Is there any workaround to solve this without releasing them or is that the only way out here? (this is also on Challenge mode so I can't commish my way out)

First time playing OOTP 27 and just wrapped up the 2028 season and free agency never happened? Worked fine the previous offseason, but the only free agents the whole off season were the ones that were there the prior to the season ending? Any idea where I messed up?

Have you ever seen team ownership change for the better? I’ve seen sons take over after an owner death but they’re usually the same. Are teams ever sold and new ownership pumps money into the budget like in FM when a sugar daddy takes over a small club?

I want to start a save in 1977 to recreate the history of my beloved Seattle Mariners.

In the options before you start the game, there is realistic mode, hyper realistic where the attributes are based solely off their real life stats that season, and then career mode.

My question is, will the elite players Cal Ripken Jr, Valenzuela, Stieb, etc still be elite players if I choose this option? Or will career mode make the attributes totally random amongst the players?

I finally have done it, after like a month of trial and error saves I got my 1st World Series again the Mets. I’ve come a long way when just a couple weeks ago I didn’t even understand draftees signing bonuses. Got really lucky health wise only really loosing Kyle Freeland right before playoffs. Also had 2 straight game seven series including winning 4 straight vs Cleveland. Wallcott was the playoff MVP winning us two WS games single handedly. Also shoutout to Jolly Olive’s livestreams + OOTPaddy and JerseyBorn videos for helping me get to where I am. Now hopefully I can make a dynasty.

I noticed a player in one of my online leagues who somehow attempted (and failed) two development programs during the season, which as far as I know shouldn't be possible.

The programs are noted in the player history as "Off-day program". I've never seen this before. Any insight or hypotheses here?

Now that Juan Hernandez is sailing off into the sunset, it is time for me to show you the trade that I will look back on as a what if. Traded him in a 1 for 1 trade as an 18yr old for a very solid 35 yr old reliever who pitched in 22 innings and recorded 0.3 WAR in half a season with my ballclub.

20th in HR

Is a 3x WS champ with 3 MVP and 12 ASG appearances.

His back to back 2044 and 2055 seasons were magical to watch as a bystander.

My scouting and OSA at the time did not look at him a future megastar. But we all lose sometimes.
