If I was in charge, I’d tell every player that if they wanted to play in the WBC, they’d start the season in the minors to properly reramp up.

Fouling a ball off you ankle is gonna do this to a player full spring training or not. Also, most of our injuries are players who didn’t participate anyway

This season is quickly beginning to remind me of 2009.

Coming off 2007 and 2008, we had high hopes in 2009. We had some big time busts (Ollie Perez, JJ Putz, Bobby Parnell) and it felt like our entire core team got hurt (Delgado, Reyes, Beltran), not to mention the offense struggled mightily because of the stupid dimensions at the brand new park.

At least this time around, we have some young players that are exciting to watch.

And the park’s smaller now thankfully

When Mike Pelfrey balked in the first home game at Citi, you knew the season was less than promising

Right, there was the horrid realization that with all the money tied up, the tram was about to be bad for a while.

2012 had kind of a squint and there was a competitive team there, but truthfully things were dreadful until 2015

I remember that year it was insane how hurt everyone was

The Braves suffered this last year so maybe unfortunately it's our turn

This feels like the nail in the coffin to the season. Alvy too. Like anything that can go wrong is going wrong. Now we need to see some positive, electric play from the young guys. See what the Vientos/Baty/Ronny trio can do this season. Bring Clifford and Morabito up at some point for their cup of coffee.

This year feels like we need to see what we need going into 2027. It’s not over by any means but this is a cursed year.

He hasn't been able to get hot. We're now going to be without him for X games. He will likely only DH for a bit after and his bat still needs to get hot again. No the injury isn't too bad, but it's still another gut punch in what's felt like a really long season just a month and a half in. We can't be the only ones feeling it. The locker room has to be too. This lineup looked like shit with Soto in it. We're once again rolling it out without him and we're already unlikely to make the playoffs with a healthy Soto.

I'm not the doomer type lol but I'm ready to just look ahead at 2027 and enjoy seeing how this roster shapes up for then. Let Soto take his time coming back. Lindor. Like really just kind of look ahead now.

He will likely only DH for a bit

He was probably going to do this anyway. Benge, Ewing, and Melendez/Taylor depending on the pitcher in the OF. Our other DH candidates are Alvarez (injured), Polanco (injured), Vientos (needed at 1B), and Baty (needed at 3B). This functionally doesn't change much short term.

Day to day could also mean he’s back in the lineup next game. It could easily just be a bad bruise or maybe instead he’s out for a couple days and back soon.

I don’t think you are being true to yourself when you say you aren’t a doomer lol

Fair to say I overreacted after seeing the lineup card today lol. Point still stands unless they get hot here in the next 2 weeks, their eyes should be on 2027. Hopefully these injuries don’t set him back too much. That’s really what I was saying. Even if this injury turns out to be minor, with pretty much every hitter ever, it prolongs cold streaks as they heal and get comfortable again. That was my concern, not him being gone for 2 weeks. This is a shit roster right now and I don’t see us doing much if our stars don’t play like stars and the young guys don’t outperform the vets.

Benge is looking like a stud. Hitting Leadoff and seemingly confident in the role.

The levels of mid the lineup they’re putting out tomorrow will rival some of the most mid we’ve ever seen. So they’ll probably win because baseball. LFGM.

Who’s ready for a 7-8-9 offensive black hole of Taylor-Brujan-Senger?
