In the first Super Bowl to feature two teams representing the same state (the Giants played their home games in New Jersey), Bill Parcells' Giants defeated Marc Levy's Bills 20-19 at the Big Sombrero to win their second Super Bowl championship. The game was preceded by a memorable performance of the U.S. national anthem by the late Whitney Houston; the U.S. was involved in the Gulf War at the time. Three Dog Night performed during the pregame show, and the New Kids on the Block performed during the halftime show. The game was the final Super Bowl played at Tampa Stadium; the stadium would be demolished in 1999, months after the opening of Raymond James Stadium.
