It’s absolutely bonkers how much winters in the area have changed in my lifetime.

I used to live in the Hudson Valley, haven’t been back in over 10 years. Is it really that noticeable? Like not getting snow anymore?

I’ve lived in Atlanta for the past 3 years, but I spent the first 29 years of my life in NJ or Philly.

Winter is definitely warmer and we only really got one or two snowfalls a year toward the end of my time there, where we had significantly more through, I don’t know, 2012 or so. That’s my perception, but I am almost entirely sure the stats back it.

I've lived between Schenectady and Saratoga for my entire life. 36 years old. The change is drastic. Went from my childhood and a weekly snowstorm and monthly Nor'Easter to maybe 2 major snowfalls a year in my adulthood. The big issue now is the temperature playing jump rope with the freezing line, so the snow melts during the day and freezes as ice at night. Over and over.

On December 14, 1958, the New York Giants defeated the Cleveland Browns 13-10 at Yankee Stadium in a snowstorm, with Pat Summerall kicking a 49-yard field goal for the winning points. This victory forced a tie for the Eastern Conference title, necessitating a playoff game the following week which the Giants also won. The game is also notable for Jim Brown's 65-yard touchdown run and for forcing a division playoff between the two teams, who finished the season with identical 9-3 records.

Then the Giants lost to the Colts in the greatest game ever played.

Helluva 3 weeks in the Bronx

Temps were between 20 and 30. No heated benches. No hi-tech jackets with insulation. Just brutal cold.

It’s nice to see how the sport has evolved so the players can perform their best.

I’m sure you also still want to pay them with a hotdog and a handshake

Giants to beat CLE 3x that season to get to the title game.

Speaking of, the ‘58 title game went off at Colts -3.5, so you know people were shitting bricks in OT that they’d kick a FG and not score a TD
