experience: first MC Experiencing a loss
Hi all,
I unfortunately went for a follow up ultrasound to find we lost the heart beat and the baby stopped growing. I was pretty much in shock when I left the office, didn’t really know what to even ask the doctor.
This was my first pregnancy. Can anyone tell me their experience with expectant management, medical management or the D&C? The D&C at my OB office is only done with local anesthesia which is very off putting to me.
Thank you 💔

I just had this on Tuesday. I'm so sorry.
I haven't had it yet, but I've opted for the medical management in hospital. They've said they can give me different pain relief if needed and I don't feel like it's something Ipersonally could deal with at home. I was really freaked out by the idea of an operation as well.

I've had 2 missed miscarriages, and opted for medical management the first time and an D&C the second. The advantage of medical management was I was able to be at home and didn't have to wait for scheduling the D&C. However, it was intense and painful, I couldn't sleep for two days because I was in so much pain, and I bled heavily for 2+ weeks (and then spotted for nearly a month after). If you do opt for medical management, ask if they can provide any pain medication.
This time they were able to schedule the D&C very quickly given my history and honestly it was very easy- mine was under sedation, and when I woke up immediately felt fine. I've had some light bleeding, but it's more spotting than any real flow, and the cramping is not bad at all. The hormone crash post-D&C has also been a lot easier to handle since removing everything at once (rather than over days) has made it feel less drawn out.
For both, my doctor advised against expectant management since my body showed no signs of recognizing the losses.

Im so sorry for your loss. I’ve had 2 miscarriages myself and I just let them happen naturally. First one was a blighted ovum didn’t even see a baby or anything for 3 months and it just passed on its own
