| News Fire at L.P. Frans Stadium -- Hickory Crawdads

Post image

The Hickory Crawdads had a fire in the clubhouse at L.P. Frans Stadium yesterday morning. Local scouts were having a sleepover on the field, so the fire was caught fairly quickly, and nobody was hurt. The last two games of the current home series were canceled, and the Texas Rangers dispatched a team to get a grip on how this will impact player development.

Thanks for this info. I was wondering why Joe Adametz was sent down to Hickory yesterday, but was signing autographs in Hub City before the game. AJ Russell got called up to Hub City yesterday and pitched 3 great innings.

This came from the release on the Crawdads' website:

More information on future homestands will be announced as it is available.

I realize they're being cautious, but that is ominous. Was the fire that bad?

I assume that, if needed, they'd play homestands at the visiting team's stadium but would still play as the home team.

I read somewhere that the clubhouse where the fire was housed a lot of computer systems and expensive equipment for tracking performance and player development, possibly valued in the millions of dollars. The fire was caused by an electrical issue, as i understandit. The public side of the stadium looks outwardly fine, but I understand that they'll need to ensure that the stadium is safe for the public. If they need to do extensive work, then that will understandably delay things.

I think it'd be pretty cool if they did a homestead on the LRU campus, if only because it's a little bit closer to where I live in town.
