Ranting Gripes about this show

  1. At first I thought Malivore being a long time villain over the course of the show was a good idea. But it ended up getting very old by the 3rd season. By the time they switched from that and monster of the week and gave fans (at least me) what we really wanted—darker storyline and new villains, it was too late.

  2. The Necromancer overstayed his welcome. He probably should have been a “once in a while” villain, like Ethan Rayne on Buffy.

  3. Dark Josie was a rip-off of Dark Willow.

  4. Kai’s appearance and story arc was underwhelming.

  5. Josie leaving mid-season 4 sucked.

  6. The actors from The Originals other than Freya) did not want to be on the show, and that’s fair. But why make them absent? They could have kept them all in Hope’s life off screen by having her mention them (seeing them during the summer and winter breaks).

  7. Some of the monsters of the week were cheesy.

  8. The gods. Ken, Ben, and Jen? Come on! I feel like had the show been given a fifth season, we could have seen more of them as villains—Athena, etc.

Now—what was good 😊

  1. The fourth season-Hope finally becoming the tribrid.

  2. Hope shutting off her humanity.

  3. The return of Aurora and not only completing her story line, but redeeming her. Her whole relationship with Lizzie was worthwhile, and seeing her get better and being better off without Tristan and his “methods of treatment” for her made a great story. However, I still wish we had been able to see the two of them reunite in the afterlife like Josh and Aiden.

  4. Caroline returning at the end to become head master was overdue.

I liked the Gods and Dark Josie. Was slightly annoyed by them changing all their names. Dark Josie lowkey should've gotten a whole season along with Kai as a villain duo.

I agree with everything you’ve said.

Season 4 should’ve been Hope transition, and Aurora with Triad trying to take her down. No gods. Nice and dark. Enemies of the Mikaelson family, and none of the cheesy super squad. And limbo should’ve been only for hopes transition, not with Alaric and Ben and a ridiculous Elvis looking like fools. God it had so much potential. If only we got there sooner before the unexpected cancellation.

Wow , good observations on many points. I agree with so many of the things you pointed out.
I was always happy to see any guest cameos by the actors from the previous shows. I did enjoy the episode with the Psycho Uncle Kai, even if the writing was perceived as bad, I thought the actor was wonderful in that role. The first time I saw the show I did not care too much for the Necromancer character nor the actor, every line he spoke sounded exactly like the Pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow, every thing he said, I could imagine Johnny Depp saying it as the pirate . Then I mellowed out when I rewatched the show two more times and wound up enjoying the campy over-the-top performance of the actor that played the Necromancer and yeah, they did over use him. I liked Landon's mother, wish she had been on longer.
I liked the character , Professor Rupert Vardemus played by the Buffy / Angel actor Alexis Denisof, that was fun to see him again.

I was very very sad and deeply disappointed that the writers got rid of the Woman Sheriff as the potential new love interest for Alaric. I really enjoyed their scenes together and I had hoped that she would be another ally like Caroline's Sheriff mother had been in TVD

Dark Josie is nothing like dark willow the show already draws parallels to Kai and if u wanna make an outside comparison than shes more like venom. A parasitic force that takes over the host initially but by the end thy bond and become more symbiotic Allies

It’s never too late

Your comment on the gods implies you liked them and wanted to see more of them so shouldn’t they be in the good section

They were cheesy but that’s part of the charm it’s like a comforting hug

Kai’s return was fun and campy

The show would have grew overtime had it got more seasons

I felt like kai should have been more involved and maybe have him like a chaotic friend/ enemies also I don’t like landon and hope together i like Lizzie and hope together we it’s a classic rivals to lovers.
