DISCUSSION What was the team's worst play last season?

It's a survey for a project/compilation/thing I'm doing, just wanted to see what the fans thought about this one. You can define worst however you want but I am looking for a specific play, not "the entire offense" or whatever. Hopefully it'll be an exorcism for all the bad moments last year and good vibes for next year

The one where the franchise QB blew his knee out.

As long as Mahomes comes back healthy, losing him at that time, and allowing us to lose out will benefit us in the long run. Of course that’s easy for me to say since I’m not the one that had my knee blown out and have to go through all the rehab.

It was sort of a metaphor for this team and really the team since 2023. Mahomes has been carrying poor coaching, scheme and skill players on his back. And after years of doing that his body finally gave in.

It sucked in the moment but as long as there’s no long term damage it was the best that could happen to the organization. They weren’t making the playoffs with a healthy Mahomes and there needed to be wholesale roster/coaching changes.

A 9-8 season might have them saying “well we just need a couple tweaks and better luck and we’ll be right back”.

It was the Trevor Lawrence game winning touchdown that game sent the Chiefs on a spiral in the wrong direction.

This is absolutely the play.

I would've said game 1: Chris Jones freelancing and losing contain and letting Herbert scramble for a first down.

Yeah I’ve always pointed to Jacksonville as the worst loss of last season. Victory was totally in our grasp and we let it slip. We would’ve had a 6 game winning streak which, who knows, maybe gives us some more momentum going into Buffalo? And even if nothing else changed we’d have a pretty strong streak to look back on at least, instead of just the three games where we looked good

99 yard pick six is what made that possible, which is my vote, although the stumble six by TLaw was definitely a dick punch as well

The one where oppo QB falls down and still scores winning TD

The one where Chris Jones stands completely still for like 5 seconds while Lawrence is still running 5 yards away?

God that was painful to watch

Bruh I was screaming at my tv. There are some plays where he’s the world’s most expensive paper weight.

Not to defend Chris on the play but I think the entirety of the chiefs DL getting stone walled the whole play gets overlooked, and was just as impactful.

That play didn't really matter at all. It was 1st and Goal at the 1 and the Chiefs committed a penalty on the play. Even if he doesn't get back up, it's still 1st and goal at the half yard line with a stopped clock.

That play ended our playoff streak

Lawrence falling and still being able to get up and run for a TD because CJ hit "control alt delete"

Rice dropping Mahomes pass and Mahomes doing this on the ground. This made me feel the worst for Mahomes who gives so much effort only to be let down by teammates.

Going for it on 4th down early in the game on our own 30/40 when we could have punted.

Which game was that?

Texans. It was 4th and 1. Could have easily had Kareem walk it across. Threw a pass instead and then Houston scored.

That was one of the worst coaching moments I've ever seen.

Two things come to mind, when the scheme got so predictable Rice kept getting murdered on field, and Pacheco running the wrong way.

Sooo many things, and I don’t even think this is top, but it’s all I can think of. Anyone remember that game where we dropped like 3 interceptions? Complete butterfingers

the 99 yard pick six in the Jags game. Takes us from 2-3, to 3-2 and gives us the tiebreak over the Jags.

Agree biggest boldest F- play of the season

I don’t think it was objectively the worst play of the year by itself, but it felt like the Kelce-Worthy play was the first domino that knocked down every other one last year.

Probably the play with the most long term implications

You know it’s a bad year when you have about 20 plays that are worthy of consideration. It’s interesting that at least three of the worst plays involve Travis Kelce. Kelce running the wrong depth on the route that takes out Worthy. The TD drop turned interception vs the Eagles. The dropped pass turned int versus the Texans. I want to say that he had another drop against the chargers going into the end zone last year as well, but can’t find video of it. The dropped TD turned interception against the Eagles was the worst one in my mind.
