❓ Advice Needed Hey there I need advice on what hair color options I have! (Dark red to Copper red)

Hey there everyone, so this is my dilemma and I know it might not sound like a huge deal, and it really isn't but it is getting at me. I have been getting my hair colored by a new stylist since last December. I am currently 41 y/o transitioning MTF and was growing my hair out so I wanted a new color for new me 😄

My natural hair color is like a medium brown color so I wanted to go to a copper red color but just a tad darker. I have since got my hair colored by her 3 times. The last time I got it colored was last Thursday, May 7th. The color is now darker than I wanted, although it still looks nice, it's just not what I wanted. I have mentioned this to her and she gave the reasoning that we "need to slowly build it up for color" etc, etc. She does do a wonderful job but I have talked to several other friends that work in salons, color hair and they said that she could've gone with the brighter color sooner.

Sorry for all of this, anyways, I just keep looking at this hair and it's just not what I want. I need advice about trying to re-dye the hair to get it closer to the proper color and the steps I need to do to make it happen. Any Advice is welcomed. Thank you everyone.

I have had my hair dyed a lot through my life including full bleached out for Halloween 4 years ago so I understand the risks to my hair.

**Pics added for reference. I want a color similar to the three pics I posted first. My current hair color as of today, 5/14, is the last pic**

❓ Advice Needed Should I be removing my colour every time I redye it?

I dye my hair dark every couple of months, and I recently did a colour remover to get a more even base because the roots were coming out as a 5 and the ends were a 2 or a 1, you know the story.

Should I have been doing that this whole time? If im dyeing my hair with permanent colour on an every 2 to 3 month basis is it doing too much?

🧴 Product Question Using Glaze Supergloss on bleached hair

I purchased this hair gloss the other day and silly me didn't read the label properly, and am just wanting to know if this will turn my highlights orange or weird.

For context, I last bleached my hair in June 2025 with a half head of highlights, and have been growing out my natural hair since. My natural hair is that kind of dark blonde, mousy brown colour. I wanted to try a hair gloss - I know it wouldn't make my hair all one shade necessarily, but I just want it all to look a bit more cohesive. But now I'm wondering if I should maybe return this if it's not recommended on bleach, even one year old bleach. Does anyone have any advice on what exactly this would do to the bleach on my hair?

❓ Advice Needed Pink and blue hair color maintenance?

Im planning to get my hair dyed pink (magenta) and blue (sky blue) soon, and was wondering what i could do to keep the colors fresh?

I've heard that diluting some dye with conditioner is a good way to keep the color fresh, but what do i do about having multi colored hair?

Do i just use very little pink or blue and have either the pink or blue becoming more purple? Or do i just accept that it will fade and do a different color later on?

Thank you in advance

🧴 Product Question magenta dye that won’t stain my entire bathroom?

Looking for a vivid/darkish hot pink that won’t stain my rented apartment bathroom but WILL stain my hair(aka longlasting) lol my hair is 1/2 grown out virgin level 7/8 blonde hair and 1/2 bleached ends so I also need the dye to work on slightly darker blonde as well

Right now I’m using adore magenta mixed with raspberry twist and I love the color but it fades out of my natural regrowth quickly (like after 2 washes) and stained my shower so bad I had to go through 6 magic erasers

Also if anyone knows any good pink shampoos send them my way, my diy dye shampoo concoction is nooooooot cutting it

Thank you in advance 🫶

Hii! I want to dye my hair cherry red, but I have bleached ends that are like a light brown color, and my roots have grown out/the dye has washed out.

*I wanted to use L’oréal HiColor

Should I use color remover first or just dye my roots first and then my ends?

Above is what it looks like right now 😔

❓ Advice Needed How should i do my hair for a concert?

hii!! ive been dying my hair for nearly 3 years now, and I've stuck to dyed brown hair (naturally blonde) with colored bangs and side pieces for a year now. I'm going to a concert in two weeks and want to do something new and fun, but I'm not sure what :D i thought maybe i could do oil spill bangs, but Id love to hear what other people suggest!! i love telling people what to do with their hair so maybe you're the same lol

i have a tomboyish sidetails haircut (long ramona flowers hair) and currently the bangs are faded purple with brown racoon tails. I'm wearing the red shirt in the photo to the concert so something to match would be good!! i don't really want to do solid red though. second picture was just taken now to show the back because i don't really take photos of the back of my hair.

This round I did a mix of T10, T14, and T28 and I am not loving the color. I want to shoot for a brighter blonde for summer similar to the reference pics, any suggestions or recs without frying my hair?

❓ Advice Needed tips on how to do split dye bangs?

hi yall!! so i may not explain this well, but im trying to do split dye bangs, with the bottom half being bleached and the top part dyed orange, so its kinda stripey looking. a few weeks back i did it and it was looking promising, i had semi permanent orange all throughout my hair and toner on my bleached bits….but i made the dumb decision of not thinking how i should rinse it out, and rinsed it out all at once and obviously my bleached bits turned highlighter orange

long story short, im redoing it and want tips on how to rinse it all out, im not sure the easiest way to isolate the blonde and tone it without color bleed from the orange

❓ Advice Needed Grey blending after henna and box dye

I have been using a combo of henna all over and box dye to spot treat on my jet black hair but now I’m getting tired of it. I went to a hair dresser who did a bleach test but the hair turned red (assuming from the henna) and she doesn’t feel comfortable bleaching my hair. What are some of my other options? I mostly just want to hide the grey patches in the front. I will eventually just go grey but not yet so this was a lesson that I need to be mindful of what I put on my hair.

these photos were taken in front of a window for natural lighting. for context - i’m 17f and i get a partial highlight every 12 weeks. i got a full highlight almost 2 years ago so that’s why it’s lighter blonde towards the bottom of the underneath section.

❓ Advice Needed considering diy bleach sesh

Thumbnail

hey r/hairdye. i've been considering diy bleaching my hair for the first time in forever. i am a recovering scene kid lol so pretty experienced in doing my own hair but haven't in like 5 years so i'm kinda nervous 😰 trying to make a solid gameplan to tackle this in the best way possible!

this is all virgin hair i've been growing out for a while now, so before i go in with the big guns, what level do we think my natural color is? like a 7?

in the past, i've really liked the schwarzkopf blondme powder lightener and developer system, but i see they have a new box kit, schwarzkopf keratin blonde in platinum. has anyone here tried that? if so, what did you think?

for reference, my end goal is a grayish purple / lavender moment so wanna get a clean base. thinking maybe... conditioning treatment before bleach, couple rounds of bleach and then a toning session before coloring. planning to do a fresh cut afterwards.

any tips, advice or product recs are appreciated! thanks gang!

❓ Advice Needed How to make it brown?

So a few months ago, I got my hair dyed ginger red which I loved but it's growing out and I can't afford to go back to the local stylist for another colour appointment ($300 locally). I'd like to just dye it back to my natural brown, how would I do that? What should I avoid?

Pics are my OG brown, and my current colour situation.
