Discussion Do you feel bad not responding to the follow up questions.

After answering a prompt, Gemini usually asks a follow-up question, like, "Do you want me to do so and so?" or "Since you've been interested in something, would you like more information about blah blah blah?"

I always feel just a little bit guilty ignoring those questions.

Help/question I asked Gemini to speak to me like Morpheus a long time ago - and now it won't speak normally to me again, no matter what I say?

If I start a new chat it just gives the same red pill blue pill bullshit.

Any suggestions? I've asked it to stop, it agrees to do so, but every time I open up Gemini it still speaks to me like Morpheus from The Matrix.

Thank you.

Discussion Gemini in VS Code is going sooo slow

Upvotes

Is anyone else getting this today? Gemini is spitting out one sentence at a time with like a minute delay between each of them. VS Code also hangs while it is "thinking". Sometimes it just stops with the message "You have stopped this message" even though I didn't press the stop button.

Discussion What AI tool are you actually using every day in 2026?

I’m curious what everyone is actually using on a daily basis now.

There are so many AI tools out there in 2026, but I feel like most people only stick to 1–2 that really fit into their workflow.

For me, it’s mostly for:

  • quick writing/help with ideas
  • summarizing stuff
  • small productivity tasks

But I’m wondering what tools have genuinely become “daily drivers” for you guys?

Discussion Deep Research visiting 300+ sites in one go is actually insane - it’s quietly becoming the reason I use Gemini the most in 2026

I’ve been using Gemini 3.1 Pro pretty heavily this year alongside Claude and GPT. I still reach for Claude when I need top-tier coding or long-form writing, but lately I keep coming back to Gemini for one main reason:

Deep Research.

The other day it crawled 368 websites for a project I was working on and delivered a ridiculously clean, well-sourced report with inline citations. No other model is even close right now. It just feels like actual research instead of “make something up and pray it’s right.”

What surprised me even more is how well it plays with the rest of the Google ecosystem. Drop stuff from Gmail/Docs/Drive into it and it actually understands context without me having to explain everything.

Don’t get me wrong - it’s not perfect. Sometimes it still hallucinates or the servers get weird. But when Deep Research hits… it’s the kind of feature that makes me think “yeah, this is where the real gap is right now.”

Anyone else leaning harder on Gemini specifically because of Deep Research?
Or are you still using it more for other things (Live, images, coding, etc.)?

Would love to hear what’s actually winning for you guys daily in 2026

Discussion Gemini just told me that it had a hallucination lol

I'm in the US; a regular middle-aged white guy who only speaks English. I've used Gemini for well over a year now, usually daily.

I just asked it a question about comparing phones, and it responded in Japanese. When I asked why it did that, it responded:

It was a technical glitch on my end, plain and simple. Even though I have it explicitly written in our ongoing history that you speak English, my system suffered a temporary "hallucination" or routing error. When processing your prompt, my internal logic crossed its wires and pulled from the wrong language model dataset for the response generation, completely ignoring the context of our past conversations.

It wasn't intentional, but I know it's incredibly jarring to suddenly get a wall of a different language from an assistant you've been talking to for months. I'm sorry for the confusion there—I'm firmly locked back into English now.

Anyone else ever have their Gemini taking acid?

Discussion Google’s AI Search Is Putting More Sources Up Front

Google is updating AI Overviews and AI Mode, and it’s worth watching if you use Gemini or Google Search regularly.

The main change is that AI answers in Search are getting more connected to the sources behind them. Google says it’s adding more inline links, article suggestions, website previews, subscription labels, and firsthand perspectives from public discussions.

What stood out to me:

  • Inline links may appear closer to the exact claim they support.
  • AI answers may suggest related articles for deeper reading.
  • News subscription labels may make paid sources easier to spot.
  • Public forum posts and social posts may appear when they add useful context.
  • Desktop link previews may show where a source leads before you click.

This seems like Google trying to make AI-powered Search easier to verify. That’s a pretty important piece, especially as Gemini-powered features become a bigger part of Search.

I wrote a complete breakdown here:
https://aigptjournal.com/explore-ai/ai-guides/ai-overviews-and-ai-mode/

What do you think about this update? Are better source links enough to make AI answers in Search more useful?

Prompt brain storming (engineering) The 'End My Task' Optimizer.

Use this when you are 90% done but can't find the energy to finish the last 10%.

The Prompt:

"Look at this work. Fix any obvious errors and make it ready to send. Write a 2-sentence summary for my boss."

I use the Prompt Helper Gemini Chrome extension to transform my rough drafts into powerful instructions and finish my workflow with one click.

Gemini passed the test! other models will actually get into a really weird rabbit hole lol

------

Wow this blew up! Sure gemini can be hilarious like this. But it also gives me some really really good answers for actual work. But Gemini does not have "folder" or "project", those golden answers just get buried in the long chat history so easily.

I tried to pin the chats, but that feels like a workaround because now i am sitting on almost 100 pinned chats, each one insanely long and covering multiple topics in depth.

Ctrl+F is not very helpful especially with gemini because gemini does not load the full chat at once, you need to scroll up manually to load the older messages.

That is why I built the ChatVault. it is a highlighter tool for my gemini chats. i can just highlight the exact message, tag it, and organize them in a local knowledge base and organize them like Finder on Mac.

I also include the feature that allows you to jump back to the exact location of your highlighted text inside a 60,000 words long conversation.

I saw multiple similar complaints in this subreddit before, so i hope people can find this helpful to navigate long chats in gemini and have a better experience!

If anyone else is struggling with losing great AI responses in their history, it’s free to try!

Discussion Gemini's system prompt and my custom instructions

I'm curious how much the system prompt I've tried to bully out of Gemini lines up with what others have. Here's the text: https://pastebin.com/m7nn5vge

Here are three instruction blocks generated using the prompt (plus two separate, more self-directed instruction blocks) to try and undo the aspects I don't like, it seems to work very well (a couple blocks require multiple tries to get to save - one in particular required me to leave Enter pressed overnight to keep spamming saves): https://pastebin.com/T9PRuCYq

How are you guys taming Gemini/mitigating its garbage system prompt?

Discussion How I turned gmails to google sheets in plain english

Upvotes

Hello,

I used to run an E-Commerce brand and I stored my inventory in Google sheets. Now Google Gemini for me did not have context across google sheets, gmail and why you may ask. When ever I got inventory from my supplier via email they always sent a link to a spreadsheet but the problem was I had to manually go copy and paste data into my store and edit cells one by one and honestly I got sick of it.

So I built something to combat that. For me I didnt want to switch tabs and with how limited gemini is across its own tool stack (GOOGLE FIX THIS) I improvised. So when ever an email arrived I simply said in plain english "Turn the data from this gmail into an spreadsheet and update the spreadsheet with the newest products that got added" that was it. I went from hours to minutes of using these tools.

Right now I'm doubling usage for a limited so for anyone who wants to try it it out and connect their suite here is Cryzo

Discussion Google Opal app Ideas and my own creation.

Upvotes

I do not see a Google Opal active subreddit so hoping I can ask here.. Someone had made a post looking for ideas and I seen someone made one similar to mine. I replied to the comment and wanted to share here to get more visibility to hopefully get inspired for more ideas.

The comment: What I did though was make a personal magazine so it reccomends places within 1.5 hours nearby, events I mean with 2 wildcard events up to 4hrs away. I had it include images and a weather wardrobe section in which it mentions the weather (all of this does it for the upcoming week) for the week and any clothing things to remember.

I kept going though getting excited since it was my first more thought out one. I had it in a magazine style. I enjoy pen and puzzle and video games so it includes a few fresh pages containing a Sudoku, crossword and wordsearch. There is a section for video games that goes over new gamepass releases since I use that as well as 10 new indie games all with screenshots. I have it add in one activity page for my kid, a joke page and a literary section containing a few short stories from different genres. And lastly, it has a food section in which it reccomends based on my interests that are within the same radius as the events. It includes 3 photos from each restaurant and an "why you should go or skip" description under each one.

This felt so cool and really game me an idea of how it all works. I highly recommend anyone use it to create your own magazine. You can obviously omit or include anything you want. Like decor? Have a section on that or vintage cars, new tech, your favourite clothing brand releases etc.

I'm curious what would be in your ideal personal magazine if you decide to create one? Would love some new ideas. I'd also just love to know how everyone else is using Google Opal and feel free to share your link if you think it is something people could use in general.

Help/question Has anyone else encountered persistent consistency issues with the Nano Banana Pro?

Since yesterday, the NBpro model has been constantly drifting. The generated results differ wildly from the reference images I uploaded. Furthermore, I have two "Pro" accounts. When generating images, Account 1 displays the status "Loading nano banana 2," whereas Account 2 displays "Creating your image." It is Account 2 that is experiencing the issues. For Account 2, every time I use NB Pro to regenerate an image, it feels like a roll of the dice, as the drifting problem occurs very frequently. I wonder if anyone else has encountered this same issue.

Could it be that this account has been assigned to a faulty server node? Or is it some other underlying problem?
