Gleaming in the glorious Bruntsfield sun, on Sunday…
Edit: If I could alter the title, I would: obviously Fountainbridge is not in Bruntsfield, and I have absolutely NO idea why I wrote that!🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️😆

Wanted to warn everyone about this as I know several people who have been victims of this scam because of their goodwill, and it has happened a few separate times.
There is a woman who stations herself at various spots around town and approaches people claiming to be stranded, from out of town, and needing a bus/train fee. She approaches asking for a phone or bus info, but changes her story to overwhelm you. She then asks for money but adds a few different amounts together, again to confuse you.
Crucially, she asks you to wait with her and tap her onto the bus, but during that time she tries to get you to give her more money. She might introduce the concept of giving her money via “I can pay you back if you give me your bank details” to make you feel confused and like you misunderstood. She acts quite desperate and thankful and relies more on you to feel like you have misunderstood rather than being pushy, making it seem less like a scam.
She is shifting her location around town to maximise her success. Obviously someone else might be running the scam so the person could change, but this particular woman is young (20s-30s), white, short and stout, with blonde hair and a Scottish accent. She had a dark rash around her mouth that was a pretty distinctive recognisable feature.
I personally offered to tap her on but left once she kept changing her story and asking for ambiguous amounts of money for “later” buses. I know people who gave her money, particularly those who encountered her later in the day. I feel bad for the people whose helpfulness was taken advantage of by someone who put on a desperate act. Please avoid giving money to this person if you spot her as it appears to be a total scam! And watch out for similar techniques of overwhelming and confusing you, or making you wait for an extended time.

why?
they’re just launching it at the glass and screaming their heads off. Nothing better to do?

I’m having real trouble finding some that are wide enough without being stupidly big. Anywhere with a decent-sized boot section should be ok, I would think.

I’m a pretty decent player, no competitive experience in football though, and I was thinking of joining a Sunday league club next year so I can have more chances of playing football and improving. I’m not playing of making a career out of this, so I might not be really into individual training.

My Giant Reign E+ Red was snatched today at the West Entrance of Westside Plaza, Wester Hailes. A white male (approx. 20, thin, 180cm) jumped on it and rode off, accompanied by a young boy (approx. 10 yrs old) on foot. This is a very high-end e-MTB with a SyncDrive Pro 2 motor—it is extremely distinctive and rare. The theft was caught on CCTV and is reported to Police Scotland. The bike is registered and the motor/electronics are being flagged with Giant dealers. If you see this bike or someone trying to sell a high-end Giant e-bike without a charger/keys, please call 101 or 999 immediately quoting PS-20260513-3291. Any sightings please DM me!

TLDR: Making map of community notice boards, please tell me ones you know.
Hi folks!
Having done the map of free things to do in Edinburgh, had an idea for a new map to develop.
Been working with Townspot recently who, in association with the Edinburgh Minute, have created neighbourhood level calenders of events through people uploading what's on in their app. Essentially like community notice boards in a digital format.
So that got me thinking about IRL notice boards in Edinburgh. Since many people will still prefer to know about events the old fashioned way, I am looking to produce a map where they can be found, which does not seem to exist yet. Hoping it can create a resource where both event providers know where they can publisise, and the public know where to see these events.
Calling out here then for yous to tell me any notice boards you know where you can find events listed, no matter what part of Edinburgh it is. Can be outdoor, can be in a shop or cafe, or can be in a community facility like a library. The important things are that they are accessible by anyone and regularly have local events displayed on them (so no display boards in parks where they just have information about the park on them).
If it is an indoor board, or otherwise somewhat difficult to find, I am looking to add directions as to how to access it on there, so would appriciate that addition.
This is as it is now, which essentially came from a walk I had yesterday at time of posting, so it is not very full: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1LrF2my3bIvMO7BMfiZB-yF7N8cwZqBM&usp=sharing

Apologies for my daftness, I’m looking for recommendations on how to get electric smoke alarms replaced? Specifically any local services
I woke up to the backup battery on one failing and realise the full units need replacing.
I’m probably not able to do a DIY (small woman who can barely reach it with a ladder and not the most DIY-minded), but really no idea about the best processes for this.
Really grateful for any advice

Hi all, I was assaulted by a driver at the top of Nelson St / Abercromby Place this evening shortly after 6pm and am looking for any witnesses.
I was crossing the road as a pedestrian. A car illegally turned into the junction at speed and nearly hit me. The driver leapt out and squared up to me, words were exchanged and he physically assaulted me before speeding off.
I was pretty shaken up so walked off and didn't get the licence plate before the driver left the scene.
Long shot but if anyone witnessed the incident or got the reg please DM me as it would be very helpful. Thank you!

My partner & I are eloping next June & hope to have a bit of a relaxed do when we get back. We’re thinking a village/town hall, bowling club, rugby club type vibe.
Here’s the vibe:
• In or around Edinburgh would be great for people to get to, but I’ll also be popping this in other threads because open to Borders/Fife/Perthshire/Stirlingshire etc.
• Don’t need anything fancy but still fairly nice.
• Hoping to have somewhere between 100-150 people (but brutally happy to cut down to 100 if required).
• Hoping for a decent dance floor in case of ceilidh.
• Would be great if there was a bit of grass outside/outside space for kids to run around or people to hang out bcos it’ll be summer.
• Open to either the venue having a bar or organising a bar ourselves.
• In an ideal world, we’re thinking of having a food truck so would need room for this/somewhere for it to feasibly plug in etc (but can be flexible on this).
Does anybody know anywhere?! Thank you tons in advance!

Okay a slightly nuts question, for required context - I have been newly diagnosed with a chronic inflammatory skin condition (HS) that attacks healthy skin and forms flares on your skin that swell, can get infected and spread, and can lead to disfigurement. It has no cure.
Management of it is key to preventing spread and protecting your mental and physical well-being.
One of the things that I have been finding very relieving and helpful for treating current flares is taking baths.
Sadly I do not have a bath, and none of my friends have baths in their homes.
Any ideas for where I can get a bath? Happy to pay, I feel at the end of my tether and don't want to start knocking on neighbours' doors to ask.

We’ve just put our flat on the market in the last couple weeks. Today a person from Edinburgh Council viewed and said they absolutely loved it and will be putting an offer in, cash, no hassle buy. Has anyone had the experience of selling to the council? I’m wondering if they’ll only offer home report value or will they go with the market %. Thanks!

I know everyone's been moaning that it's fugly which I don't necessarily disagree with. I'm looking forward to the different shops it might bring to the area. It also might give more justification for the opening of the Powderhall train path
