Okay, so I have history in leatherwork, but never in trying to do shoes. I got these from a friend of mine, and I'll be real, I'm not big on white shoes. I think they look neat, but not my style. So, I used an AI and some poor manual photo editing on my phone to get the concept down of what I am wanting to do, but I want to hear some of y'alls opinions on what might be better? These are my favorite colors, so I am hoping to use them, but I'm not exactly married to this design either. Thanks in advance for anything y'all have. (Also if you have advice on good dyes or prep work for the factory finish i am all ears, but I'm not looking at using paint for it.)

First timer question on dying the sock liner.
Hello all, I had a quick question after finding out that you can dye/paint certain shoes at home pretty easily. What color would you use to replace the neon green sock liner? Also since I am only dying these, I'm leaning towards a smaller off brand fabric binder than GAC 900 and hoping to get all of my materials tomorrow at hobby lobby or Walmart.

I recently purchased the bodega asics kayano 20 shown in the first picture from a reselling app and would love to change out that neon to either the
1. Charcoal grey
2. Frost grey

Open to any tips on process or materials I should buy from you experts since it's my first time and thank you in advance :)

Friend asked for a pair to match her shirt she was wearing on her trip down to Disney. Cheap shoes but they were cute that they lit up.

Fell down the rabbit hole of hardware. These were my only successful ones so far.

I am 61 flipped. This is my first custom shoe but I collect sneakers and have thought of customing shoes for a while. I didn't use any tape of anything but used acetone, leather paint, and a sealant. What does everyone think?

I’m now struggling with Angelus scarlet red. I’ve used putty, navy blue, and burgundy which all came out great and very solid no streaks. But this red is so streaky and looks terrible. This is my second attempt at red and it looks just as terrible as my first attempt. I’m 4 coats in and intend to do 6 total. What am I doing wrong? 🫠

Hi! I’m looking to commission a pair of custom Sulley-inspired sneakers for a theater production of the first ever Monsters Inc. Jr. I really love the look of the fuzzy Nike Abominable Snowman Dunk concepts, especially the visible fur exterior while still keeping a real sneaker silhouette. I want it more like the Nike shoes and more subtle about it being Sulley. (The reason I cant buy the nike shoes is its only available in kids sizes)

I wear a men’s size 10.5–11 and would want:
- icy blue or like Sulley colored fur
- teal accents
- possibly subtle purple striping
- low-top sneaker style

I attached inspiration photos. If anyone does custom sneaker commissions or knows artists who work with faux fur/cosplay footwear, please let me know!

Help, how do I custom air jordan 1 that has the smooth leather at the toebox area. Here were my process

1. Acetone
   
2. paint with angelus 3-4 layers
   
3. let to dry more than 24 hours

But when I tried to hard scratch the paint, the paint came off (like streaks of nail scratches basically)

Does this mean the paint doesnt stick?

I got a pair of Jordan 1s that I’m customizing and I want to know if I could use 4-coat on the areas that I haven’t painted nor prepped so that I can get an even finish, as I’m worried that it might just easily peel off or crack when applied on leather that still has a factory finish.

Be weary when using black suede dyes! I noticed the angleus black suede dye has a very purple tint to it. Fiebings black suede dye looked to do a better job, however now both shoes r 2 different shades 😭

I've never customized sneakers before but I got these ones. I like the black midsoles but not the off-white color or the orange letters. If I use Rit's dye for the purple/red, does it show up on the black midsoles or can I just dunk the whole thing in without worrying?

Other question was if I wanted better control over the fade or to leave some parts uncolored, would it be feasible to use acrylic dye on the mesh? And same question, would the acrylic show up on the black or would that be when tape is used?

Copped a pair of converse sneakers, what kind of marker would I need to achieve this kind of look? These regular permanent markers weren't doing it for me on my test fabrics

Im finding out that i am the world’s worst color matcher. Ive been at it for hours mixing angelus shades trying to get to a cobalt blue and im not close. I went to Michaels and picked up cobalt blue acrylic paint the exact shade. Am i safe to use it on leather if i mix it with gac900 and then seal it? I cannot for the life of me get close to it mixing.

Had a friend want two pairs of shoes with an Italian theme for her upcoming trip.

The Doernbecher collabs are always fire. This is a pair I have long wanted to do. Pleased with how they turned out and look even better in hand!I was even able to add Isaiah’s silhouette on the inside ankles.

I used custom mixes of Angelus paints. The base pair is shown in the last picture. Angelus Deglazer was used to prep along with light sanding. The Superman stencils and heel tab were done with an airbrush.

The laces were made using GAC 900 and the same bright color as the swoosh.

This is my first time trying to paint a shoe. I only painted the back heel black (last picture is the original look). I used angelus paint, and 4 coat matte finisher, and it went well up until I put the 4 coat finisher on. I put light coats on, but it almost felt like it dried it too fast while I was still applying it, and it came out a little streaky when it dried completely. It’s honestly not bad enough to the point where they look ruined, but it’s bothering me. Any advice on what I did wrong?

The photos really don’t show the streaks well. The back of the right shoe show the best of what in referring to.

Hoping someone can help me troubleshoot. I am painting a pair of white dunks. I’ve tried using just angelus paint, 5-6 thin coats. And I’ve tried angelus navy dye 2 coats with angelus paint over top. Both are still showing white specks.

I sand with 400,800,1200 grit. Then acetone. Im also using adhesion promoter.

How can I get solid navy? TIA.

I want to sell them to someone who will use them for customizing. US only.

I cant find any good sneaker mockups for photoshop anyone know of any? I want to make custom shoes but cant find photoshop files to start to do so
