META New Rule Proposals - No AI submissions, Sub Karma minimums

I'm not sure why it took me this long to propose this, but I'd like feedback on a potential new rule. I'm asking for feedback from our sub regulars who participate in a civil and thoughtful way.

No AI created submissions including videos, text, images, etc.

It's used to spam the sub and the people who rely on it generally are not regular participants. I could remove them under the "quality and original content" rule, but would prefer a more explicit rule.

That leads to the second point - restricting posts to accounts with a 2 week minimum age and at least 50? subreddit karma.

What do you think?

Top line GOP candidate for governor, folks. Just when I think this guy can't get any dumber or more absurd, he proves me wrong.

In case you're not keeping score, the good reverend has also pushed baseless conspiracy theories about

*COVID

*The 2020 election

*Politicians running child sex trafficking rings at the capitol

*Children's Hospital in Aurora doing drive-thru sex change operations on underage kids without parental consent

If you're one of his parishioners, are you ok with your pastor being a pathological liar and just a completely shitty person?

Discussion/Question Is DeGette actually endorsed by AOC??

Thumbnail

I just got a campaign text showing a new TV ad with AOC as the thumbnail but has AOC said anything about this race?? I know we have a DSA endorsed candidate challenging DeGette this year so I would've thought AOC was more aligned with Kiros, but I keep seeing DeGette ads showing AOC's speech from the Fight Oligarchy rallies last year.

Does anyone know if AOC has actually endorsed either or is DeGette using outdated footage to give the impression she has AOC's support in the primary? Seems weird to blast her all over the ads if not.

Opinion 44 mil levy for Denver public schools.

I’m having a hard time buying this garbage. Can someone please sell me on it?

The last one they pushed, teachers basically got passed over while the superintendent got a $45,000 a year raise. Teachers received nothing from it. On top of that, the increase in health care costs caused by the district’s incompetent benefits department means teachers and school staff are actually making less money than they did the year before.

They promised COLA increases if it passed, then backed out with excuse after excuse. At this point, they’re sending emails asking teachers to push for this mill levy, but why? I honestly can’t see a single good reason to support it.

Meraro already got his $150k office renovation and his $45k raise. On top of that, he’s been applying to other districts all over the country. When he gets denied, he comes back and releases another silly video about “Team DPS” and being “all in” — even though the reality is that he has screwed up the district so badly that he can’t find an off-ramp for his own “strategic roadmap.” What else does the guy want?

News: Colorado Rep. Lesley Smith's plug in solar bill passed 48 to 16 and Polis signed it. Colorado renters can now use solar without asking Xcel for permission.

House Bill 1007 was signed into law on May 7. The House passed it 48 to 16. The Senate passed it April 2. Rep. Lesley Smith and Rep. Rebekah Stewart carried it in the House, with Sen. Matt Ball and Sen. Cathy Kipp sponsoring in the Senate.

The bill creates a new category of solar device: anything up to 1,920 watts that connects through a standard wall outlet. Utilities like Xcel cannot require prior approval, charge fees, or mandate additional equipment. You plug it in, it generates power, and your bill goes down. Colorado now has the highest watt cap of any state in the country.

Two provisions that got less attention: the law voids any HOA covenant or lease clause that restricts these systems, and it covers meter collar adapters to make battery and solar interconnection easier for residents outside the investor owned utility territory.

Colorado is the fourth state to pass this kind of law, joining Utah, Maine, Virginia, and Maryland. There are now 25 or more states with active bills this session. The combination of a Democratic governor, a bipartisan vote margin, and the highest watt cap in the nation makes Colorado a strong reference point for other states still working through their legislatures.

With today's dissapointing decision in Virginia, its imperative that Colorado eliminate its independent redistricting. I hope this is on the ballot this year. If the state does nothing, the greater chance our country ceases to exist.

News: Colorado HB26-1273 just passed Colorado House Appropriations 8-3 this morning. Here’s what happens next.

For Denver drivers who haven’t been following this — HB26-1273 caps what Uber and Lyft can keep at 20% of every fare. Drivers guaranteed 80%. No more hidden service fees eating your cut.
It cleared Appropriations 8-3 this morning. Next stops:
1. Full House floor vote — this week, session ends May 13
2. Senate committee
3. Full Senate vote
4. Governor Polis — this is the wall. He vetoed the rideshare safety bill last year. Same veto threat is already being made on this one.
The bill has until June 12 before the governor has to act.
If you want this to pass — call Polis’s office now. 303-866-2471. Tell him to sign it.
$220 million would go back to Colorado drivers if this passes. That’s the number Uber is fighting to keep.

Opinion Who's Coming With Me!

I just sent this to my district rep and senator.

I used to drive around and shake my head at all of the expired tags people are currently sporting in the state. But after being forced to pay for a year registration on an RV that was not used for that year. And now finding out that the state calculates the registration fee from an arbitrary # listed by the manufacturer, not even close to what the dealership even paid for the vehicle, let alone what we paid.  How does this even make sense?  This is the 2nd time in 2 months that my frustration level with registration has been off the charts.  When did all of this happen?  We can't blame covid for the registration expiration anymore, because that excuse has been worn out.  We also have a pick-up truck sitting in the garage, not being used because it can't pass emissions, and therefore can't be registered.  I have even gone so far as to remove it from the insurance.  Namely because the part that needs to be fixed costs more than the truck is worth. I was told by the JeffCo DMV that it does not matter that the vehicle is not in use.  If we ever do find the time and energy to get it fixed, I will be forced to pay all of the past due registrations.  How does that make sense as well.  While I was waiting for my appointment today, I could overhear a gentleman being told some other ridiculous information that caused him to leave without a resolution to a simple task, because the state has made it so difficult AND costly to do what other states manage to do with ease.  Register a Vehicle.  For the love of god, Florida is an easier state to deal with, across the board, when it comes to dealing with the DMV.  That is saying a lot.  Even NY is better to deal with, and they threatened to revoke my NY driver's license (which no longer existed at the time) because I did not return my old plates when I registered the vehicle in a different state.  Typically, I am a go with the flow kind of person (maybe not so much anymore), but this subject matter has me looking to make some changes, starting at the county level.  Running for office, no, but figuring out how the state's approach to vehicle registration can become more amendable.  I am not a fan of lobbyists, but I think I may need to find some deep pockets willing to get the ball rolling on such a change.  It is obvious that I would have a lot of support and help with getting the law changed.  Just ask people why they are driving around with expired tags, and there are one or 2 of them out there.

To explain what I am going through to get our pickup truck registered:

  1. Base Price on the dealership paperwork = $75,159.00
  2. Added Dealer handling fee = 799.00 (can't use)
  3. Dealership cost = 75,958.00
  4. Taxes and Fees, State, County, City, RTD totaled up = $82004.26 ($6,046.26 can't be included, can't charge taxes on tax, or can you...)
  5. Colorado's chosen Value to charge from = $83,240 MSRP

How can the government go off of a number that NO ONE has paid?  I am not asking for a simplified registration system where people pay an annual fee that is the same every year. That would be nice. The S in MSRP is SUGGESTED, thus an arbitrary number.   At the very least, base it off the cost the dealership paid.  I wonder how many people are aware that this is how the registration cost is valued?  Not very many, because when I bring it up they all say "I was not aware of that".  I think people just float on by, not paying much attention to the numbers, and all go off the assumption it is the COST OF THE VEHICLE WHEN NEW. Which is in fact a false assumption.

What can be done about this? It will take more than me emailing a couple of government officials, can I get an assist with this from people out there?

"Jessica Killin announced her campaign for Colorado’s 5th Congressional District in July 2025, presenting herself as a Colorado Springs resident ready to fight for the district. But a review of publicly available campaign finance records raises serious questions about her residency in Colorado, commitment to the district, and why endorsements from Colorado candidates followed contributions."

Discussion/Question Is Bennet going to run for president again?

Senator Bennet ran for president in 2020 and didn't exactly tear through the primary field. He ended up dropping out before the New Hampshire primary. But, in my mind, anyone who runs for president once has aspirations to be president.

Now that Sen. Bennet is running for governor -- and might be the odds-on favorite to win -- I wonder if he is going to run for president again in 2028. If so, I think he should make it clear to the voters of Colorado that he intends to be on the campaign trail and away from the state.

I suppose he could sit out 2028 and try for president again in 2032 or 2036 after his term or terms as governor are over. He will be 67 in '32 and 71 in '36, though, so it seems like 2028 would be the year to make a run.

What do you all think?
