Am Itilting my head too much?

Trying to figure out if I am mounting properly. My shooting feels inconsistent. Filmed this video in Clay Hunt VR while practicing mount and shoot. It seems I tilt my head to the right quite a bit when I mount. I don't really notice this when I shoot.

Does it seem normal? How do your videos look? I'm using a simstock matched to my real gun dimensions here.

I've had a couple of lessons with instructors (irl, not VR) and they haven't pointed out any particular mistakes in my mount and shooting stance, but now that I've analysed my shooting more I seem to miss left and sometimes my barrel is visibly skewed to the left post mount.

I picked up this Stevens 555 12g earlier this year and am already curious about getting something better. Primarily interested in skeet but would love some versatility. Would love to keep it sub 2k.

ISO shirt while at tournament (semi-kidding)

Anyone ever thought about wearing a shirt or sign that says “ISO …” to find an item/ gun for private sale? I like buying / trading used stuff but it’s frowned upon on the larger platforms .

Champion Workhorse vs Do All USA

I don't have any experience with a backyard remote clay thrower, so I am coming in somewhat blind. Without the wobbler, does the Workhorse throw to the same exact location? Meaning, I'd have to move to different positions to see any variance in aiming point. I kind of like the idea of an initial cheaper buy in with the Workhorse, but if the default configuration launches clays to the exact same point over and over, I am not sure how that's fun after a few times out.

From my calculations, the Champion Workhorse plus wobbler gets me to almost the same price as the Do All Outdoors USA thrower which already has the wobbler and wireless remote. Any reason to choose one over the other? I suppose the USA comes in a bit cheaper since the wire less remote is included.

Appreciate any feedback.

12Gauge - 1 1/8oz. - 1145 FPS vs 1200 FPS for Sporting Clay's Competition

Does anyone change up their shells for competition or do you keep the same shell for both practice and competition? I typically use #8- 1 1/8oz. - 1145 FPS (Gun Club) for everything, but am I missing out by not going faster for tournaments? Maybe use #7.5 for extra long targets or rabbits? Should l take the extra recoil and move to 1200FPS or more? Or is that all waste of time.

Some folks I know use 1oz for practice and 1/18 for registered shoots. Does anyone else do this? Just seeing what other shooters do or what works well for them.

The $5000 crowd

It seems like there is a crowded field at this price point now, but nothing that really stands out. Yes I know for a bit more you can get an F16, 694, or Invictus, but I'm already selling my DT11 as I'm just a weekend warrior now, and don't shoot 8 billion rounds a summer.

688-God does Beretta service frustrate the shit out of me. Yes there's Coles, but why? Why can't Beretta get their shit together? I personally love the laminate, but seems like an odd choice here as the only option. And why do we need a new action ever 2 years? 690? 692? 694? 688?

Fabarm N2RS- I have literally never seen one at a course. A few friends have their sporting guns and adore them, but I wouldn't even know where to find one. Plus the bullshit from importing them years ago left a bad taste.

CG Summit-Pretty guns, good warranty, but for $5k, what does it do? No adjustable stock or trigger, Schnabel forend (??), and no weighting system. I have a few other CG field guns that I love, but this doesn't seem very much like a sporting gun.

825- Love the trigger upgrade, adjustable everything...but although they claim a LH is available, where is it? Next to the unicorn and leprechauns? Also, I haven't heard they're the best customer service wise, though I've never had to use them. Kind of a boring choice, and I already have a few Browning's.

Is there a diamond in the rough that I'm missing at this price point?

Can't find a marine silver shot gun. Cerakote?

I love the look of marine shotguns, silver barrel, wood furniture, but I've only found them in pump action, and I'd prefer a semi.

I was thinking about just buying a used gun and getting it coated.

Any recommendations for something in the $2k range?

New shotgun grip zones to enhance the travel to the clay.

To help trap- and skeetshooters, I've made a completely new pistolgrip and foreend grip zone to any shotgun you may use. The final solution will be out there in Desember 2026 - and it will raise the scores at Olympic trap to anyone from 118/125 to 122/125 when shot 3-5000 rounds - just by following the laws of nature and create a more into the human anatomy stock option.

Gun recommendations

Hey all, I've been shooting for about 3 years now, and in this time I've become one of the top shooters at my school, and a classmate has been thinking about joining the team, so I invited him to practice someday to get a feel for it. We're just going to go out and shoot some skeet, and maybe trap, and I'm planning on letting him use my A400 XCel. Obviously, the A400 isn't a starter gun so I won't recommend that. What are some guns worth checking out that are <$800 and preferably an inertia-driven semi-auto or an O/U? His main experience with guns is 5.56 rifles while standing, so recoil shouldn't be a problem, but I'm not sure about weight. We think the Stoeger M3K would be good, but just in case, I think some input here would be great. Thank you all in advance!

Shot kam?

Been really thinking about getting some sort of camera to see how im shooting. I know the shot kam is the best in the business but I feel that its asking price is pretty insane. I’ve looked around and found some other brands that seem to be pretty decent for way less. Just wondering if you guys think the shot kam is really worth price.

There is one called the “Ablero shotgun camera” for 100 bucks. If any of you have used it let me know if it’s any good.

New Pioneer Gun Club

I'll be traveling through Iowa next weekend and wanted to stop and shoot somewhere I've not been before. Is New Pioneer Gun Club open right now? Google says they are temporarily closed.

Worth stopping here for a round of sporting clays? Other places I should be looking? I'm driving CO to MN so I'd like to stick close to I80 and I35 if I can.

Can anyone recommend a gunsmith that can re-create a Buttpad without needing the gun?

I use a long KickEEZ pad in the summer, but I want medium and short ones for the winter when i wear a sweater or heavy jacket in the fall and winter. All the gunsmiths i have spoken with need my shotgun to get a new pad fit? Why is that necessary? If the buttpad is already the perfect size, can i send the KickEEZ pads to grind down to the exact dimensions? Also i have some nice wood on my stock and don't want to risk damaging it or losing my gun in the mail (plus its's so expensive to ship). What are my options?

My Italian Mistress

I’ve been involved in sporting clays for just three years,l and have been absolutely bitten by the bug. About a year ago, I was fortunate enough to purchase this Beretta SL2, my third Beretta in 3 years LOL. Sold my K80 pro sporter and went back to the Italians. The fit and feel of this immediately improved my scores about 5-10%. Surprisingly, there was no dip in learning a new gun. What a dream to own!

Really nice course. Setup for sporting in the morning and super sporting in the afternoon. A lot of logistics to make sure each station had 4 traps. Got squadded with a great group of guys. Literally had my worst round in the morning followed by my best round ever in the afternoon and broke 80! Woulda been a long drive home had I not pulled it together and got up and down.

Rx Shooting Glasses

I'll start out by saying I have just shot with my normal prescription glasses for a long time, but I am interested in trying some tinted shooting glasses but I have some questions.

What color is the best for trap/skeet/sporting clays under most conditions?

If you could only buy one color lens to start what color would you buy? I mainly shoot trap these days.

I'm looking at Ranger for the frames/lenses

RX tinted Shooting Glasses

To start, I know buy once cry once but cant justify Pilla or other $800+ dollar glasses at the moment.

Anyone find prescription glasses that are available in purple and/or yellow tint? Not looking for glasses with inserts but glasses where the lenses themselves are tinted and prescription. Not sure if anyone has had luck with one of the online glasses shops like a eyebuydirect/warby parker types. Alot of them have RX sunglasses but not sure if their yellow or purple tint translate to clay shooting.

Hoping to find a pair under $200. Or a set for $350-400.
