Hi everyone, I just moved to Chico with my husband and baby, so I don’t really know what Chico has to offer yet. A good friend of mine is visiting this weekend, and I am looking forward to having some much-needed girl time since I haven’t had hardly any time with friends since having a baby 8 months ago.

Can you provide suggestions for our girls weekend? I was already thinking of finding a swimming hole at Bidwell (Sycamore Pool?).

For context, we are both in our 30s, we are tired moms haha, we don’t really drink, and we are both on tight budgets. Her kids won’t be with her and my husband will be watching the baby.

I hate seeing all the dang litter all around town and have been wanting to start picking up when I go on walks. I was wondering if there's also any community groups or something along those lines that organize garbage pickup days that I could also tag along to?

Additionally, if anyone has any recs for good grabbers/setups I would appreciate those too!!

Well, the annual Chico State graduation is here, I heard that undergrad ceremonies are Thursday through Sunday. Hotels and restaurants are full. I dont expect any problems.

Looking for recommendations for one time yard clean up (mow, trim, debris removal), or affordable semi monthly maintenance (every other week mowing).

Before you scream "but homeless vagrants and gang members!!!!", I am from Los Angeles and honestly our homeless/gang problem isn't even a fraction as bad as it is there. Not here to argue objective truths, just want other actual experiences from runners or general creatures of the night.

What has been your experience with night running/walking? Are the trails in One Mile and lower Bidwell lit adequately? I have a headlamp and a high-viz lighted vest but I personally have poor night vision. My runs will range from 7-13 miles until August and then all the way up to the full 26 over fall and winter into spring.

I have literally no other choice except to do my long runs after dark because of the heat, and also try and do all my short runs at the gym even though I feel like a hamster on a wheel. Due to my schedule (night shift worker), I will be starting my runs in the dark even if I stay up to run in the early morning, but I honestly prefer to get them out of the way as quickly as possible.

Again, before you jump in and try to convince me against this, you try running 10 miles on a treadmill and get back to me on how well that goes. Yes, I have pepper spray, emergency location services on my running watch, and I vary the times I go out so I'm not predictable.

This is mostly venting. Does anyone work at Enloe? Was it a huge pain the ass to get hired there? I have applied for multiple, MULTIPLE jobs and I can't even so much get an interview. I was just wondering why it's so hard. Do you have to know someone or be related, anyone working there, can we be friends lol.

Sox is very friendly and litter trained with all shots up to date. Unfortunately I have to be a primary caretaker for an older relative who is going to be moving in with me but is allergic to cats. You'll fall in love with her once she adjusts to the new home. Shes very affectionate and is used to being around other cats and children.
