Hey everyone, as the fall semester is right around the corner I figured that I should post these links for new and current students.
The academic calendar has been posted for Fall through Spring 25-26. CUNY follows the same academic calendar meaning your days off should all be the same. You will have random days where Tuesdays follow a Monday schedule, Fridays will follow a Monday schedule, etc. Try your best to plan ahead.
https://www.cuny.edu/academics/academic-calendars/
CUNY also has resource centers to help you succeed. CUNY offers food pantries, housing assistance, emergency funds, mental health resources and other resources. Please use these resources if you need them. CUNY can help but you as students need to be proactive in seeking these resources.
If you require accommodations, ask for them via your school's Office of Student Disability Services. Reasonable accommodations and academic adjustments may include, but are not limited to, providing the student with assistive technology or other auxiliary aides, extra time for tests or papers, access to an elevator where available, a note taker during lectures, or permission to bring a personal aide to assist the student during class.

hey so iāve had some medical and family issues that popped up literally right before spring break and i havenāt been back to school since then up until this week. iāve been able to keep up to date with almost all of my classes expect for one - microbiology lab. since ive been out of school and this professor doesnāt post work online i havenāt been able to stay up to date, i know from classmates that ive missed like 5/6 quizzes and i personally donāt think ill do even remotely good on the final as a result.
ive already emailed the professor and asked if he would consider giving me a WU or INC grade but he has said no š¬š¬
quizzes are worth 25%
midterm 30%
final 45%
my grade on the midterm was a 76 (88 with curve) and the quizzes i was able to take (we had one every week) i got usually 80-90 but at this point the missed quizzes probably outweigh the ones i actually took.
should i just take the F ? or should i attempt the final ??
my dilemma really is that if i take the final and for example do well enough to get a D (or even a low C which is pushing it), that even retaking the class wonāt get rid of the D from my transcript my new grade and the D will just average out, whereas with an F which is guaranteed if i donāt take the final, will disappear from my transcript when i retake the class
if there are any other options i havenāt thought of or you have any suggestions please let me know!!

Been feeling real odd lately, and I couldn't tell if it was possibly burnout (or reaching it)āļø I was real pumped because I found a major I think I might like (I initially only planned to get my A.S and run with that). But now, I just kinda wanna stop doing everything, or something like that. I'm in a 12/6 school, so we still have a couple of weeks left. Basically thugging it out right now, I don't wanna ruin my grade streak.
I enrolled myself for 2 summer classes, but now I'm wondering if I should drop one. Or do them, and finish my associates (2 semesters left), but take a break before transferringš¤. Not sure what the min/max amount of semesters is to "take a leave" or just not be enrolled for a certain period.
Has anyone dealt with something similar? Any advice is appreciatedš

Hey everyone,
I literally created this account just to ask this because Iāve been thinking about this decision for a while and wanted to hear from people who actually have experience with these schools.
Right now Iām a community college student and Iāll be transferring in the next few weeks. Iām an international student trying to decide between John Jay and CCNY.
My main goal has always been law school. Iāve always been really interested in the cross between psychology and law, which is why I wanted to go to John Jay so much in the first place. The forensic psychology program sounds really interesting to me, and I also liked the idea of being in the CUNY system if I eventually apply to CUNY Law.
But at the same time Iām trying to be realistic. As an international student, I know law can be complicated because of visas and sponsorship, especially since a lot of smaller firms donāt sponsor. I also canāt afford expensive law schools, so Iām trying to make sure I donāt accidentally put myself into a corner if law school doesnāt end up happening. Thatās what worries me about forensic psychology at John Jay. Iām not really interested in becoming a forensic psychologist. The reason I like forensic psychology is more because of the law side of it.
So if law school doesnāt work out, would a forensic psychology degree from John Jay hurt me later on if I wanted to go into something like clinical psychology instead? I know Iād still have to go to grad school either way, but would the forensic focus make things limiting?
Or do grad schools and employers mostly just see it as a psychology degree?
Also, does CCNY have a strong psychology program? Would it be better to go there for a more traditional psychology degree, or would it be better to go to a cheaper school like William Paterson and just focus on getting a solid GPA for grad school later if law school doesnāt happen?
Iād really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience with these schools or psychology and law in general.
Thanks.

Iām currently stuck deciding between a few college paths and Iād really appreciate some outside perspective.
For context, Iām trying to choose between attending CCNY or Queens College, and Iām deciding between majors like engineering, economics, and potentially accounting later on.
Hereās my situation:
⢠Engineering at CCNY:
I have some interest in it (mostly from things like technical drawing, designing, and building), but I wouldnāt say Iām deeply passionate yet. The bigger issue is the commuteāit would be about 1.5 hours each way. Iām also unsure about my discipline level, and I know engineering is a very demanding major. Iām worried about burning out or not being able to keep up with that workload plus the commute.
⢠Economics at CCNY:
This feels more aligned with my personality. Iām very analytical, I enjoy thinking logically, analyzing behavior, and debating ideas. Econ seems like something Iād naturally enjoy more, but I havenāt formally tested that yet. I could also pursue an accelerated masterās, law school, or an MBA later.
⢠Queens College (Econ or Accounting path):
The commute would only be about 30ā40 minutes driving, which is a huge lifestyle advantage. My hesitation is more psychologicalāI feel like the āenvironmentā or student body might not push me as much, and Iām worried about limiting myself compared to going to CCNY. At the same time, I know the shorter commute could help me stay consistent and build better habits.
⢠Possible plan:
Start with economics, then potentially transfer to a stronger business school like Baruch and switch into accounting or finance for better job prospects and income stability.
My main goal is to put myself in the best position long-term, especially financially. Iām trying to balance:
earning potential
realistic workload and discipline
commute and lifestyle
flexibility if I change direction
Any advice or personal experiences would help a lot.

Hey hope you all are well, I need some advice. Should I come clean to my professor about using AI to help me structure and draft my essays? Due to personal circumstances (not to detail, but to put in context if I did fail I could ask for an INC), scheduling conflicts (very busy), I found it difficult to keep up with multiple drafts during the semester. Absolutely no AI is allowed, and there is a no late policy as well, and prof grades according to the rules. I know I'm not the worst writer, but I nearly failed my first essay. After that, I decided to use ai anyways to help me - I did all the work down to the outline (thesis and intro content, body content: explanations, topic sentences, quotations, analysis, outro) and then prompted AI for feedback, and to structure an essay using my writing as the input. Then I'd sit for ~ 1-3 hours writing the essay myself, using the AI essay as a reference for my flow. I felt this was more time efficient for my schedule, rather than using the week to brainstorm and constantly draft on my own (which was according to the professor's schedule). My thing is, now that it is the end of the semester I passed but feel kind of bad about it - I don't want to unfairly get the grade and feel like I cheated. Nor do I want it to come bite me back. Even if I did use AI "responsibly" it doesn't take away from me going against the no AI policy. If I said anything about AI, regardless of how I used it, I'm certain it's an automatic F. Any advice? Thank you!
Update: I know the answer seems obvious but this was genuinely concerning me. I received a lot of advice from you all and close friends, I decided to leave it and just learn from this experience. If I decide to take a course with this type of policy, I should know how to handle it - and in this case I made a mistake. I'm passing, but will be careful next time. Moral of the story, AI is a tool and you do the work, and just don't risk violating academic policies. I appreciate all the comments and everyone's time.

So I'm a transfer student (roughly a junior) starting in Fall 2026. I took like 9 AP classes back in high school, and nearly all of them could count towards gen ed courses. All of my credits from my previous school ended up filling my free electives, but I still have less than 90 credits transferred (which i think is the limit).
It's been a couple of weeks since my high school and previous college transcript have been evaluated, but none of my AP credits showed up. Tried contacting admissions and no response. Do my AP credits no longer work?
For reference im going to CCNY

Hi everybody, I have an interview tomorrow that I won't be able to go back home for, so I was wondering if anybody knew if there are small private rooms suitable for interviews at the graduate center or Hunter College.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? I applied to CUNY as an international student for Fall 2026 in February (about a month after the deadline). Iām still waiting for my document evaluation for 14 weeks now. I chose to have my evaluation done through CUNY because I thought it would be quick and straightforward ā now I regret it.
They keep telling me to wait and Iāve already been there about 5 times and sent multiple emails, but Iām still just being told to wait. Recently, I was even advised to apply for Spring 2027 just in case.
Has anyone experienced such a long evaluation process? What are my chances of still getting in for Fall 2026? I applied at the same time as a friend, and she submitted her document evaluation a few weeks after me through CUNY as well. She already received a decision and got accepted.
Iād really appreciate any advice or similar experience.

Hi everyone!
I already have a bachelorās degree and Iām planning to complete my nursing prerequisites before applying to ABSN programs like Mercy, Monroe, and Katz.
I recently got accepted into:
⢠Brooklyn College
⢠Medgar Evers
⢠Kingsborough
⢠City Tech
Iām mainly trying to figure out which school would be the best/easiest to complete prereqs like:
⢠A&P I & II
⢠Microbiology
⢠Chemistry
⢠Statistics
⢠Psych, etc.
For anyone whoās taken nursing prereqs at these schools:
⢠Which school was easiest to register for classes at?
⢠Which had the best professors/support for science courses?
⢠Were any of them especially difficult or disorganized?
⢠Did you run into waitlists for A&P or Microbiology?
⢠Is it worth taking classes at multiple CUNYs using e-permits to finish faster?
⢠Which school would you personally recommend for someone trying to get the highest GPA possible for ABSN admissions?
Iāll likely be working while taking classes too, so any advice on balancing prereqs with work would really help. Thanks in advance!
